PAK Corp. today announces its withdrawal from the Aridia region. Many reasons are attributed to this, the primary being stagnation.
When we first arrived in the region many months ago, it was a dry, desolate territory. The markets were bare of both minerals and equipment, and many of the asteroid fields had never felt the warm glow of a mining laser. But we had a purpose--there were victims to be had. Mostly small corps out on the frontier, mining for their own minute goals. They were nothing but unsuspecting sheep, and we were the wolves. They had never before tasted combat, and we were intent on livening their days, being the only major pirate threat in the area. We tried to command a region.
Such went on for several weeks as we improved and expanded, gaining enemies in every which direction. But all good things come to an end. Everyone grew accustomed to our presence; local channels kept watch on every activity, and we were followed at all times. We had many good fights, but it was interfeering in our business. Wars were engaged, totaling over 30 in the past several months with over a thousand pilots between them against our 10. We came to the point that there were no longer any neutrals in the region, but rather an assortment of orange brackets. Our main struggle was against several Fountain Alliance corps, but we held our own--easily destroying ten or twenty ships to each one loss of ours.
But now it is time to move on. We are not, nor have we been, on the losing end of our wars; we've done quite well considering the odds. Still today many of the wars are being withdrawn as they are unable to cope with the losses we deal them. But none of this is what we came to Aridia for. We've been stuck these past several months in a pattern of non-profit wars, and had forsaken our pirating ways. Piracy has actually become quite useless out in these parts. Not only are there few targets, but they are all corps who have a no-ransom policy which states they will not pay tolls or ransoms to pirates. Their mining lasers are not worth the cost of my missiles.
So what does the future bring for PAK? We begin again fresh and with purpose--the roster has been cleansed of dead weight, stale bases abandoned, ships equipped and ready. We'll be back to the nomad style of piracy, so lock up your children and prepare a clean set of pants. We come from anywhere and everywhere, and you will not stop us.
Our demands are simple. Cooperate, and you will live. Anger us, and we shall strip you of everything you hold dear. Your wallet? Ours. Your cargo? Ours. The Scourge Alliance will pour over you, and you will submit to our command. For you will all be mine in the end... and none shall ever dispute my rule... again. ______________

You sure its not because most of your fighters have left the corporation, and over 90% have lost a ship or two within the past weeks? Please Sara, stop feeding people a big load of s**t and give the true story. Kakalot left and is now openly at war with your CEO aswell as multiple other members leaving due to the loss's that you took and that the corporation couldnt sustain... PAK is dead Nuff said.

Some left from boredom--fighting the same corps each day gets dull, and we were getting no profit from it. Others left because they did not want to pursue the nomad pirating style, or just wanted to try out different things. Still more were kicked for inactivity. Members leaving has nothing to do with losses--we've always been able to resupply. Simply put, the way things were, people were not having fun. And that's why things are now changing. We may be few, but those we have are loyal to the cause. ______________

Edited by: Sara Kerrigan on 27/03/2004 20:27:56 Downfall perhaps, but not defeat. Yes we had to give up several good pilots for the sake of change, but we will be back stronger with time. I don't care about all the Aridia propaganda; we could have stayed in Aridia and kept fighting, but there was no further point to doing it. We have missed pirating, and are intent on doing it again. ______________

I had to laugh, ive never heard such a outrageous quote, but maybe if you included alts in newb ships used to scout your positions then yes thats the kill ratio. But truth is its got too hard for you around aridia, you cant deal with the FA.
But that aside I do respect you as a pirate corp but just keep the rather silly kill ratios to yourselves :P.

Well, most of what sara stated is pretty accurate. There are a few points off of course but it's just a matter of wording so folks please relax.
Good luck to PAK and have fun guys.

Nothing changed between us and the FA that could inspire anyone to leave a region. Just because every member of your rather huge membership doesnt tell every other member about every ship they lose does not mean it didnt happen.
There is nothing left for us in aridia. No one is left to rob, having some good corp wars with many of the areas residents is fun but does not make me any money.
It did not get to hard for us. As far as hardness goes there has been zero change at all so this certainly wasnt a stimulus.
To those fountain individuals and aridians that ive fought and had grown a relationship with I will say so long, alot of you turned out to be really good ppl and it was great fun fighting you.
See you out there.

You need to kill more, kill everything, everywhere. Use krestels to gank industrials in Yulai and take their tech level 2 blueprints. Use 8 battleships to mass gank. Otherwise, you're not true scum.
Keep on flaming, lamers.

Who said they were scum? They're pirates, they need not stoop to the level of them clowns as to fullfill some wet dream of massmurder to get recognized for what they are.

Objective note:
The people who live in a region can reasonable claim "victory" over the pirates, if the pirates decide it's not profitable to stay there and wander off to somewhere else. After all ... I don't care whether or not I *kill* the guys interfering with my home and livelihood ... I just want to make them go away.
Pirates, OTOH, can't really claim "victory" under any circumstances, because they don't have a fixed goal. But then, they never have to admit defeat either; unless they're permanently destroyed, which PAK clearly have not been.
The natives are fighting a war against the pirates, which can be won or lost; but the pirates are not fighting a war, they're just doing their thing. So victory and defeat don't apply to them.
In actual fact, the best way to "win" a war against the pirates, is just to make it unprofitable for them to kill you .. it's easier to do that, than to try and kill *them*. This is the key distinction between genuine piratical pirates, and groups like the CA, who aren't in it for money and can't be beaten in this manner.
