When i log on, and get into my character, about 15 seconds later the game just exits out. (Crashes) This just started happening and it was working yesterday. I restarted my Mac and the same thing happened over and over again. Do i have to re-download?

I've run across the same thing. The only fix I know of is to remove the Eve Preferences folder from ~/Library/Preferences, actually reboot and launch the client again.

I have the same problem. The only fix I know is to reboot.
anytime it crashes (lots) a reboot is required or it will crash again seconds after logging in. Also, after playing the game, all my other programs crash. Firefox, Safari, Ichat, Skype, CS3, Entourage. Everything. So anytime I play eve, I just reboot my system before working anything else.
I guess it is what we have to live with til they can get some fix for it. The client is only 3 months old so..

I have this problem on occasion. It's incredibly difficult for me to get a handle on what is wrong because whenever I try to start bash (via iTerm or the terminal app that comes with 10.5), it hangs hard and I have to kill the terminal using the GUI tool. Logging out / logging back in usually fixes it. Last night, the logout process hung too, though.
I am able to open the process list tool in utilities. I don't see any errant Cider, EVE, or WINE processes, nor is anything using excessive amounts of CPU/RAM. Maybe a syscall is hanging mid-way and blocking something important? =/ --- SVP OwlManAtt, Yasashii Syndicate |

My client began crashing this evening on a regular basis (typically it crashes 3 - 4 times a night) -- nearly very minute or so. I've currently had nearly 20 crashes tonight. I tried rebooting, to no avail. I'm loathe to remove my eve preferences yet again -- how many times have I had to reorganize my book marks, recreate my saved overview settings, and for gods sake, turn off auto target default?
Has there been something done recently to decrease the stability of the mac client? I love having it and it plays like a dream on my MBP, but constant crashing isn't acceptable either! Albeit absurdly slow, at least the CrossOver ran Eve didn't crash as often as this!
Please, I hope CCP has people monitoring mac bugs. You guys should get a crash feedback client integrated, as well.

This is exactly what is happening to me. Reboot usually fixes it then I can play for a couple of hours before it will crash again and continue crashing until I reboot. Also other apps start becoming less responsive.
Here is the error message from the console: 15/02/08 2:07:23 AM [0x0-0x49049].com.transgaming.EVEOnline 2008-02-15 02:07:23.391 cider[313:550b] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Error (1000) creating CGSWindow'

I didn't experience the "other programs crashing" thing, but the reboot worked for me.
I wish I'd rebooted sooner, I'd done some computer repairs earlier in the week and was terrified that I'd botched something and was trying all sorts of things (that weren't rebooting). Probably lost a mil or two of salvage :( -------------------------------------------------- <3 my Drones |

Personally I don't need to touch my preferences, but a reboot seems to be the only solution.
This appears to be a commonality amongst other users. Could someone from CCP please tell us specifically what is causing this?
Is it an errant process that is still running? If so, what's the name of it so we can "kill -9" it?
Is it a file/locking file that hasn't been removed? If so, which file is it so we can delete it?
Is it a certain file with the wrong permissions? If so, which file is it so we can adjust the permissions?
Just asking for some information, because expecting everyone to reboot their computer is NOT a reasonable solution.

Perhaps you can see some of the program-poo in the activity monitor. I run on 10.4.11 MBP, and i didnt run yet in such problems. Only after longer periods of playing (doesnt happen lately, thx for the Server T-Com/lvl3) the system gets after closing eve a moment slow to unresponsive and then back to normal

After playing EVE, I get those "CGSResolveShmemReferece : reference offset (xxx) exceeds bounds" messages for the Dock, Finder, etc. I also find that specal textures are missing - open up the System Preferences and there's no search box in the top right corner - only a blinking cursor. Dialog boxes will be missing the blue halo around the button with keyboard focus, and the throbbing button (glowing blue button that indicates which action "Enter" will invoke) is invisible.
If I persist with trying to get EVE running again after a crash, my system will often end up hard-locked. Logging out and back in again solves the issue, and sometimes I can SSH into the computer once it's hard-locked, but I have no idea what process to kill in order to reset the graphics and load up the login window again.

sudo killall -HUP WindowServer
If your os x user is not in the sudo'ers list you will need to login as root and edit the sudo'ers list in terminal with visudo and add your user's name. I would disable root user after you used visudo. To enable root user.
If the computer is overheating there may be other issues that restarting the graphics won't help.

I lost my first ship to a crash a few days ago, a Myrmidon, the Gallente BC. Lost a bunch of cool modules too. One feels cheated when dying for a client freeze. I died aplenty and it was always caused by my playing - but to have a client freeze when you're in a Level 4 mission is a blow.
I crashed a lot playing this game, although it's much better now than it was way back, however it's the first time I lost a significant ship to a crash. ------------------ Veldspar fears me.

After a period of "more stability" (better said, less instability) the crashes have come back again. Unfortunately they have been mid mission and have caused me to lose 2 ships (2 well stocked and rigged Megathrons, sniff, sniff). CCP response has been unsatisfactory to say the least. Essentially saying "its not our problem".
All along the "get info" crashes have persisted and this game makes my whole system whacky. After playing EVE my Finder locks up, other app's crash. I have never used any app on my Mac's ( about 14 years now) that have caused such widespread turmoil. While it is a fun game, I certainly would not have lasted this long without an upside, the agony is far out weighing the pleasures. The writing seems on the wall, without true support for the Mac client I'll spend my time and precious (kids college) money elsewhere. It does say something when in soliciting for Mac bug hunters the requirements for which include more experience than any Mac user could even have on the game. When I talked with the EVE folks at Mac World SF 2008 they seemed genuinely concerned about the stability issues, but not at all clear about how they would or could solve them. Perhaps they are a bit in over their head on this one. Perhaps they dont have or just will not, or cannot allocate enough resources to deal with the problem. In the mean time we dont have a stable game playing experience, we have essentially a crippled version of the game - all at full cost. Yes it is all our choices whether to hang in there or not. I did for a few months. It's just that now the stakes are larger when my ships vaporize due to a crash, so my head is telling me its time to move on.

That is the same error message that I'm getting. I had to reinstall Eve to get around it the first time and now it's happening again. No combination of deleting caches/preferences or restarting seemed to have helped.

I just posted this on another thread, but it's perhaps appropriate here too...
When my client starts crashing, rather than rebooting (ugh), I simply log off the mac then log back in - cleans everything up, and it's the same as a rebootie. Faster too, and I don't have that little part of me dying from restarting OSX :D
One thing I noticed: In the config file located at \Users\(InsertYourLoginHere)\Library\Preferences\EVE Online Preferences\config in the catagory [x11drv] there is an entry "VideoRam" = "256" However, my vid card has 128mb ram When I changed it to 128, things became more stable...
Hope that helps!

I just got a macbook yesterday, and EVE crashes every 15secs. I've had issues with a 24" imac before, but every 15seconds? this is ridiculous. I've tried rebooting, deleting the preference file, re-installed EVE 3 times with no results. They must find a way to fix this. I literally cannot log on long enough to play before it crashes. ARE THERE NO FIXES TO THIS, except to ask for a refund? My info is as follows;
Model Name:MacBook Model Identifier:MacBook4,1 Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed:2.4 GHz Number Of Processors:1 Total Number Of Cores:2 L2 Cache:3 MB Memory:2 GB Bus Speed:800 MHz Boot ROM Version:MB41.00C1.B00 SMC Version:1.31f0 Serial Number:W88083UE0P2 Sudden Motion Sensor: State:Enabled

I wouldn't recommend this for the less experienced users. Anytime you allow admin rights to a regular user account they are added to the sudo list. Enabling root can be dangerous if you don't disable it when your finished, not to mention that monkeying around when logged in as root you can seriously damage your system if you don't know what your doing. This tip should only be for those well versed in *nix and not for dabblers.

I suggest you are using at least OS X 10.4.11. I've seen problems with 10.5.x. Also, you might try cleaning the caches with Onyx. You can download this http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/english.html. I have run this and it alleviates the odd crash for a couple of weeks at a time or seems to.

I'm running on a new 24" iMac. Have experienced random shut downs as well. Don't seem to have the problem if I make sure nothing is running (especially the voice recognition stuff) before launching EVE. I suspect my mail might have caused it too, it's set to automatically check for new mail every 15 mins. Shut everything down and run EVE and only EVE!

I've had that same problem, with the same effects you describe. I hope they fix this instability issue, it makes it very easy to lose a ship because of a crash. The crashes are seemingly random.
Strange that an EVE crash can cause OS X to completely lose it. It's like when a game crashed in OS 9!
