Sumarizing my epic try to get 2 accounts on a ubuntu.
Install a single user copy of EVE. Then start this guide to get 2 accounts runing.
This is my system: http://pastebin.com/m16cacece
1. Drivers: ENVY -http://www.albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html 2. Get this great guide done: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=636176 3. Copy your .cedega directory 'cp -R .cedega .cedega2 4. creat a shell: Launch a text editor like emacs or gedit. Paste the following in:
#/usr/bin/bash export CEDEGA_PATH=/home/Username/.cedega2 && $CEDEGA_PATH/.updater/cedegaUpdateChecker -GAME EveOnline-linux
Reeplace 'Username' with your username in my case smn, as this:
#/usr/bin/bash export CEDEGA_PATH=/home/smn/.cedega2 && $CEDEGA_PATH/.updater/cedegaUpdateChecker -GAME EveOnline-linux
save the file as "launch.sh" in your home directory (the .sh extension indicates it's a shell script). Now in the terminal window type
"chmod +x ~/launch.sh" (without quotes), this sets execute permissions on the script, to run the script either double click it, or type "./launch.sh"
If any problems with permitions:
"chmod -R 755 ~/.cedega2/.cedegarc" and try launching again. "./launch.sh"
Im getting this far now. But i get a new error. again with permitions.New error I tried the 777 to give all users permitions to the Cedega2 directory. But get same error as above
My system does not contain any .ui directory under .cedega2 Look here

Edited by: Lira Reib on 09/02/2008 15:25:34 Well, as we can see by reading the error message, the problem is that the folder ~/.cedega/.ui doesn't exist. This probably means that it is missing.
For reference, ls -a on my ~/.cedega directory returns the following:
. .. EVE Online .transgaming_global .EveOnline-linux .ui .cedegarc .gddb .updater .cedegarc.BAK.20071307011342 .global.delta .winex_ver configuration_profiles .gui .default_configuration_profiles .languages
We can troubleshoot as follows:
If you are missing many of the directories, they may be somewhere else. If you have all the directories, something else may be wrong.
If your first install runs, that one is probably okay. In this case you should run 'rm -rf ~/.cedega2; cp -R ~/.cedega ~/.cedega2' and try running again.
If your first install does not work, you might consider fixing or reinstalling it, getting it working, and then running that command.

I tried your code but it did not copy anything. but i manually copied the missing directories into the cedega2 directory. Then i did './launch.sh' Giving me this ERROR. Almost there!

ok not to derail the focus on your problem, I'd like to ask if there is any way to run 2 clients from same dir? like in windows...
I am tight in space for my linux partition, and dont want to spend another 1.4gb for a copy...

No idea. But i guess not, as that would be a far easier solution then doing all the stuff im doing to be able to play 2 accounts on 1 machine. I recommend you making a new thread and ask.

That seems to be your problem. Compare the two .cedega folders and see what is missing. I think the file is called 'Play EVE.delta'. That is what is in my .cedega folder:
user@system:~/.cedega2/EVE Online$ ls -al Play EVE.delta -rw-r--r-- 1 user user 229 2008-02-10 13:54 Play EVE.delta

Solved!
What i did:
#/usr/bin/bash export CEDEGA_PATH=/home/Username/.cedega2 && $CEDEGA_PATH/.updater/cedegaUpdateChecker -GAME EveOnline-linux
Reeplace 'Username' with your username in my case smn, as this:
#/usr/bin/bash export CEDEGA_PATH=/home/smn/.cedega2 && $CEDEGA_PATH/.updater/cedegaUpdateChecker -GAME EveOnline-linux
save the file as "launch.sh" in your home directory (the .sh extension indicates it's a shell script).
After new errors i Manually copied all the files from -cedega to .cedega2 and did './launch.sh' from desktop 1 from descktop 2 i launched game from applications-games-eve.
WORKS! :D
Thanks too all involved
