Mac Pro, no problems after update.
Check you console.log to see if it says something.
The account I use under OS X is also non-admin as a side note. That way I know if any program tries to muck with something they shouldn't be. I think it is good idea to have it setup that way.

iMac here, ATi HD 2600. Increased FPS noticed, about 2 to 5 frames per second I would guess. Also some graphical bugs when playing in windowed mode have been fixed.

Edited by: Cactus Ed on 12/02/2008 00:25:41 Edited by: Cactus Ed on 12/02/2008 00:24:23 Just installed 10.5.2 + graphics update on an intel mini (1.66 core duo, 2GB RAM, 10.5 fresh install, GMA 950) at work . . . EVE definitely runs smoother than before the updates. Don't play much on this machine, so can't give a comprehensive eval, but I can move from station to station just fine.

Shot in the dark, but try giving the updater execute perms?
1. Run this in terminal:
Quote:
chmod +x /Applications/EVE Online.app/Contents/MacOS/tgUpdate
2. ??? 3. EVE!!! --- SVP OwlManAtt, Yasashii Syndicate |

Oh My bad... YES THIS DOES fix the issue. Though for the slightly less technically inclined to make it work here is the line you must use in terminal.
chmod +x /Applications/"EVE Online.app"/Contents/MacOS/tgUpdate
The quotation marks allow for the space in between EVE and Online.

I wonder why some are getting this and others not? Is everyone that has this problem logging into OS X with a user account that has admin privs?
Although that is the default for OS X you should create a separate admin account. Your regular account you use every day on OS X should be non-admin. This is much safer practice. Whenever you copy an application to the systems Application folder then for instance you will be prompted for an admin user name and password. You also won't have to worry about accidentally deleting files that you probably don't want to delete or modifying something you shouldn't be.

Doesn't seem to have happened to me, but I have noticed a small but visible bump in FPS. Though the map browser remains a big staticky pile of fail, thought everybody should know.

I had the same problem. I only have the one account enabled so it's an admin account. The terminal script fixed the problem. EVE once again launches as it should. Thanks!

Thanks, this worked for me too.
Now please dont expect us to run with accounts that have admin rigths. (A bit unsure if the people without this error do that)
And why oh why does a system update manage to modify permissions on my EVE directory? Its an system upgrade, touching files in /applications folder just seems silly. Guess that was apple and not CCP
Fingers in pies...other peoples pies even!
Anyway, hoping for a bit more stable client now. Fingers crossed etc...

Hey, after doing the graphics updater, I can now use the ship fitting window at last, without all the scrambled graphics. Nice. Presumably the update included some nVidia driver updates.

I have the exact issue with a new non-pro macbook. I know it doesn't fit the minimum graphic requirements but it was certainly working before the recent Eve update. I get a totally black screen with the mouse icon still appearing. |

It's likely that the broken component was the launchd process which was unable to read permissions correctly on CCPs application, rather than some sort of modification on the Applications folder by any Apple Software Update. Still probably Apple's fault, but Apple would not be modifying files or folders that aren't going to exist on 99% of customer's machines, they wouldn't be modifying any files in /Applications unless it was an application update for a specific app that they created.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but would not Repair Permissions in Disk Utility do the exact same thing? Might be longer than the Terminal Command, but wondering if anyone fixed it that way...

In fact It has worked for me ;-) That's so bad EvE community guys don't speak about this. We mac user have to manage this kind of thing without any support. Buy the way The EvE patching team show how they're bad in their knowledge of the Mac plateform. It is not so hard to think of permissions and just to include a script to manage this in the patching process. How bad this guys are...
