I have been running misisons for the Caldari Navy. I go to an agent in a .6 system. I tried one in Nonni for a while. This first agent was only 1 hop away from alot of .4 systems. I ran those missions anyways, and ended up loosing my Ship to Fugazil in pvp. So, I say screw it, I wont use that agent anymore cause he is so close to .4 space it keeps sending me there.
I pick a new agent, even better quality.. that is at least 4 hops from .4 space. This agent is now sending me on 5-6 hop missions every time ( the WORSE quality agent only sent me on 1 hop most of the tyime )
The questions is. Why do they INSIST on sending me to .4 space for missions? No matter what agent I pick, or where he is located.
IS it taking into account my skills and ship? OR is it saying "this guy has 2 million skill points, he needs to take risks" Cause almost all my skill points are in industry. NOT gunnery and engeinering.
Anyways, I am tired of going to .4 space and loosing my ships. Lost 2 MOA's and a Thorax now. All I want is a high lvl agent who DOESNT send me to .4 space. I am not a PvP'er. Is this possible?

I'm not sure how you managed to lose a ship to player pirates on agent missions; I'm assuming you only do courier missions, which don't really take you into asteroid belts or away from sentry guns. But yes, if you want to, just pick a high level agent somewhere near the core systems and chances are you won't get sent to very many low security systems.

It is because I get those stupid "find the missing documents" or " get the hostyage" missions. and it send you to some "Flotsam" in .4 space to do the combat. These are combat missions. Not courier missions. Courier missions were so boring it made me bleed out of my eyeballs.
And the pirates were camping the flotsam points looking for people running missions.
I have tried differant agents. The only dif is the further into secure space I go, the more hops the missions are cause they just send me back to .4 space to do the mission. My original agent was only 1 hop from .4 space. All my miossions were usually 1 hop.
My current agent is 4 hops from .4 space. Now all my missions are 4 hops.
And the new agent im using is a much higher quality than the previous one.

I seem to recall someone saying that agents don't send you to system with drastically different security ratings from the one they are in. Try an agent in more secure space, not just further away from unsafe ones?

Ya, I got out of Noni. :) But I dont think the corp i am running for has any agents lvl 2, that are in like, .9 systems or anything.

i don't remember which thread i read it in, but there is some connection between the system status of the agents home system and how low systems he might send u too. as far as i remember it's right that 0.6 system agents sends you to 0.4 systems from time to time. to avoid 0.4 during missions i think you have to get an agent in a 0.7 system or higher.

That is misleading. I work in Reset, a 0.7 system, for Minmatar Mining Corporation. With my Level 3 agent, I am often asked for Kernite, which is found nowhere I've found in anything better than 0.4, and the closest is 4 jumps, in a 0.3.
Now, granted, I have buy orders set up just in case someone wants to sell to me, so theoretically I don't have to go that far, but no one ever sells to me. __________________________________________________

Another thing that is misleading is that the restriction on where an agent will send you only applies to the destination, not the route to get there.
For example I have an agent in a 0.8, this agent will no longer send me to a destination lower than 0.5, however I often get sent to a 0.5 which is only realistically reached by travelling through some 0.4s. This isn't so much of a problem with the sentry gun changes however.

Im refering to the destination. It often sends me to kill an NPC pirate in .4 space. like... almost every time.

Edited by: Thomas Covenant on 01/04/2004 07:15:07 Dude - if you are not a fighter, why are you working for the NAVY??? you are liable to get 95% mission to kill something.... by Level 3 there will be some fine looking cruisers... try a mining corp or soemthing.

Agents will send you to systems up to .25 below the standing of the system they're in...

I work ALOT of level 2 missions in that area. There is a pretty short list of where level 2 agents will send you for combat. it varies by agent/system. Once you do about 20 missions from an agent youll know his entire list of .4 or lowers systems that he will send you too.
Every agent seems to have atleast 1 and ive trolled alot of agents. So theres not one that is the easy farm. However if that 1 that comes up sees alot campers pick a new agent =).
Couple of things that can keep me alive in that area. (these spawn campers have never got me though ive made my entire living off these agents in that area =)
1) campers are a prime time problem in my experience. If a check of the map shows enough activity in the area you might want to just play nervous and not take it. Alot of time though if you have invested in finding a good agent he sends you to deserted systems =) 2) Always stop before the final jump in .4 space and load a new autopilot destination. 3) note who is in space when you get to .4. Also dont waste time. Keep moving. Campers might be sleeping. 4) (this is the one that actually saved my bacon a couple times). when you warp to your final mission waypoint use this check list a) warp in at 60k. No closer. b) set your buttons so MWD is on the screen. c) If when you get a fresh autoradar screen you see ANYONE on the auto list IMMEDIATELY hit autopilot + MWD. DO NOT (and this is the part that I think keeps me from getting hit by these guys) do not stop to analyze why there are people at the mission way point. You have to remember these guys dont know the exact second your coming out of warp. So anyway ive made all my money off missions in that area and they have never nabbed me. The 60k and no pause is just a bit much.
And finally keep this in mind: If you get going good on a good level 2 agent your pulling about 100k a mission. The total risk if your in a fully loaded rifter is about 250k +80k in insurance worth of stuff if you shopped frugally ahead of time and you get 250k on death. So total loss for dieing is less then you earn in a single average mission.
So /shrug. The earnings next to the equipment to do them as a ratio is huge. Youll die so rarely to PKs warping in at 60k and instant MWB if anyone is near that its nothing. (Everyone has to remember people camping level 2 agent spawns to get PHAT loots arnt exactly the creme of the crop for PKn. Its typically a cruiser and frigates and the cruiser never seems to be loaded for instant lock + web.)

I am in the process of jacking up my fighting skills. i handle lvl 2 agent missions with ease.

I also recall papa smurf saying agents wont send you to a destination more than 0.25 below there system these days .. so to have 0.5 be the lowest you'd need 0.75 .. since we cant see the decimal (or can we now?) you'd need 0.8 . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Ahhh i remember being sent from egbinger to 6wt-be on my first level 3 agent, what amazing fun that was. Pity the pirate that was camping that particular gate was a complete noob and couldnt kill my stabber with him in a scorp ..:: Electro-shock therapy ::..

I could have swore my agent in urlen sent me to .4 space when i was working him.
But other then that I suppose the pattern holds. Mostly though cause almost all my agents have been in .7 space lol.
