Have you ever seen a PvP battle in EvE where one side was winning and an event happened that caused the loosing side to shift the balance and win the engagement?
I am not really talking about calling for reinforcements, but I guess those stories would be cool to hear as well.

Does it count as a comeback if the enemy didn't know about it? :P
I was happily cruising around in my Drake, when I was engaged by a Harpy and an Enyo. I was kinda thrilled because it was long since my last fight, and in the inital confusion I forgot to activate my shield hardeners So, down go half my shields before I notice my error, and even if I managed to save before going below peak regen, I was going down, and I noticed that my damage would not be enough to down the Harpy before the doom...
Having a fairly expensive setup and rigs on it (This was around the time rigs got introduced), I wanted to see if I could save my poor ship, and politely asked in loacal: "Would a ransom be possible?" Obviously I thought my adversaries would have noticed their impending victory as well, but maybe they would want some hard cash instead of the glory?
Then suddenly, the Enyo warps away, leaving his Harpy mate all alone. WTF? Apparently, the Enyo thought they were losing, and in fear of his hide, he ran. Now the Harpy was all alone, and I could happily see my shields overpowering his dps. A few moments later, the Harpypilot answered my message, thinking I offered him a chance to pay for his own hide, and I was 15m richer

Edited by: Jonny MoJo on 14/02/2008 15:10:36 I saw a comback once. It was a abaddon vs a mael and the mael was going down. After a minute, the mail was able to tank the damage output of the abaddon and kill it easaly. It could have been a good battle but i dont know why the abaddon pilot just stop his reps and guns after a minute of firing lasers though.

I seem to remember that in the tourney in one of the fights, of the sides managed to kill a T1 frigate right off the bat, thus giving them points. The other team managed to hold and neither side was gaining on the other (thanks to logistics ships). The fight was about to time out when the losing side starting mixing up their targets to confuse the logistics ship. It worked and they managed to pop a couple support which led to them winning.

Yeah, I've had someone come back on me. I was in lowsec giving a Rokh fit for ganking a whirl. I actually had a NOS Dominix beaten bad enough he was trying to retreat. I hit the warp scrambler to stop him, and that extra load on my cap was enough to tip the balance in his favor. His NOS overwhelmed mine, and it was a slow slog down to nothing for me.

True Story:
My first solo kill came when I took my T1 fitted hurricane against a PA Ishtar. Confident in my superiority I locked him down and opened fire while I got pummeled by his T2 drones. But I wasn't prepared for the damage those drones could do, and as my armor tank inched towards hull I started to get worried, so I started typing up an offer of surrender and to negotiate a ransom.
I hit hull, 90%, 80%, 70%. I sent the offer. Just as I did, I saw he was going into hull too but I was certain his advantage over me had me beat. Then a moment later he exploded in a brilliant flash of light and his drones deactivated.
I had a Damage Control on, and he didn't. 50% resists FTW.
Epilogue, I scooped up his T2 drones and gave them back to him when I saw him in station. I felt a little guilty about offering to surrender just as I was popping his ship, and the gesture made me feel a bit better.

Third Alliance Tournament, I think it was, where Edge of Sanity fought Destiny.
It was a fairly drawn-out battle, and it had multiple comebacks from each side.
The fight ended with a single surviving Ishkur happily killing a fully fledged Blasterthron (yes, you're reading that right). And then it flew out of the arena with the Megathron below 10% hull.

Put a Myrm into less than 10% hull before a whole hord of remote repping alts had him back up to 100% armor and totally unbreakable.
Best i had was when i fought a Rax in my Caracal, i had dropped right ontop of him and was getting cut up pretty bad by the blaster DPS, but for some reason he had no MWD and i did, deep into armor i was out of his range and by the time he thought to release drones it was too late. A simple example but a good one i think.

Maybe the megathron vs. a gallente either AF or ceptor, where the ceptor almost finished off the megat alone, as he was out of cap?

Wast testing out my not-complete fitting on my CNR. Went into a belt (note this was right after the torp nerf) spent like 20 minutes staring and wondering why I couldn't do any damage. A vaga warped in on me and started taking me out w/ the help of the rats. After about 1/2 my shield going down I looked at my mods realized my last invul shield wasn't on. Threw it on and started pounding on him till he left.

Happens all the time when ECM is involved.
Soon as a damage dealer becomes non-ecm'd battles can switch very fast as the melty melty begins.
Rather sad that its a random event and in no way to do with what a player did on the battlefield, just some server rolling a dice. --

I was running a mission in .4 and some pirate jumped into my mission area. I warped out cuz I was low on shields, and then I went back because I didnt want him to have all the salvage, and yea, I was bored.
Warped back in and he scrambeled me (we were both in Caracals except mine was fitted for PvE and his PvP) I thought he would have me since I couldnt do anything, so I just locked on him and started firing while he tried to jam me. After a few unlocks and relocks I was actually going into his armor while I was still 40% in shields with a mission cruiser shooting at me. Nonetheless I eventually broke into structure and the pansy ran away I was literally one more volley away from popping him =[.

Gonna take a shot in the dark on this one and say it was the Caracal team VS the drake team where it came down to looking like the Caracals had the fight in the bag only for the drake team to just hold on in the end and take on 3 or 4 of them solo. The sword can only strike one enemy at a time, but tactics can defeat ten thousand men at once. |

A few weeks ago I was in a Hurricane fighting a Harbinger. I was in an injected dual rep setup and he was fielding a rep+plate. He was winning and had me just dipping into structure before I'd rep back up when he suddenly stopped repairing. Turns out he was overheating his rep and didn't watch it closely enough; and it failed. I was eating at his armor, feeling like I was in a good position, when I ran out of cap charges (I had just gotten out of another fight before this one which ha burned most of my charges).
So there we were, me with no cap and him with no repairer, I had a higher percentage armor left but he had more HP than me. It was one of the most tense finishes I've seen to a fight.
He ended up winning at about 20% structure, but I didn't care about the loss of the BC at that point, the fight had been so fun.

I remember taking my vengeance out on a spin once, I got a phone call and warped to a planet at 100, next thing i know ive got a blinky red hurricane spitting out drones The drones get me down to about 2/3 structure before i knew it, I thought i was going to die, his drones just weren't popping fat enough, so i set my autopilot, and got ready to eject.
At about this time i notice hes pulling his drones in, and on the way out i got to pop 2 of em because they no longer had the transversal to avoid my lasers. He redeploys his drones after a quick shield rep, and I get lucky enough to pop 2 more on the way in. Without his drones he a no way of hitting me and the drone that he had on me couldn't break my tank. He tries for another few minutes to break my tank, and then begins to aligning and goes to scoop his drones and i end up popping the remainder of his drones.
After that i was able to throw a point on him and hold him there as i slowly ate away his tank, eventually I popped him Im glad I had my lasers on me that day, anything else would have probably ran out of ammo. (And now my vengeance is a missile boat, and completely useless to me)

I have seen it happen in fights, but it's fairly rare - tipping the balance generally mean the fight has to be fairly balanced in the first place.
And actually, events of this nature do tend to be fairly random - you know what's in your gang, so you usually have a fairly good idea of what's well matched, and your wildcard... you know about, so ... well, you weren't losing you were just baiting.
Seen some quite spectactular stunts pulled off by smartbombing battleships though. One guy I know had a special line in undocking, smartbombing all the tacklers, and warping off laughing.
The most obvious occurance is when the 'balance tip' involves an ambush of some kind - decloaking falcons, or hot dropping carriers can make a significant tilt in the balance of a fight.

i see battles go back and forth all the time, usually small skirmishes, and it usually has to do with ecm or dampers or web ranges.
for example, i attacked a hurricane with my deimos, a mauller and a vaga the other night. the cane has me webbed and is chewing up my deimos pretty bad so i slowly burn out of web range as my armor gets down to about 30%... i'm out and away to 30k or so, but my two buddies can't break his tank and now the hurricane is taking out our mauller. my ecm drones finally bite and the mauller is safe for a bit. i make another mwd run right at the hurricane and the three of us manage to pop him before he can kill any of us.
