I've been doing some system surveys of GW and Curse the last two weeks.
Curse seems to be, for lack of a better term, an entry system into 0.0, even though it is 0.0. The relative security of each curse system seems to be near or around 0.0, whereas many of the GW systems are much lower security - and bountiful of goodies.
I guess the angels & dominations, being the largest cartel in the game has a greater presence in Curse with far more stations than other NPC locations. For example, Venal only has about 5 outposts in the entire region, whereas Curse has that many in one system alone.
I wonder if someone can shed some more context on the Curse region.
Thanks,

Curse region is probably the most active 0.0 space.

That's probably true. There's also only one entrance from lowsec, so the chokepoint can be camped quite easily unfortunately. Most of the activity is European though, so Americans should have an easier time making a living out in Curse. GW frankly I don't know much about.

Back when I was living in the Drone Regions, the Great Wildland was empty. You could autopilot the 17 or so jumps between N-RAEL and the Drone Regions. That said, N-RAEL and Konora were constantly camped. The usual suspects are Talionis and Ultima Ratio.

Out of all the things CCP has done, naming that region the way they didnt couldn't possibly describe the state of affairs in that locale. Never have I been anywhere in this galaxy as aweful as curse. The systems suck, its 1 giagantic pipe to everyone' and their mothers backyard. Definitely not the place to eek out a living, avoid at all costs.

Edited by: Finanche on 14/02/2008 21:38:51 Matrixcvd - I agree, it's not the best region, but compared with the drone regions (which I call the ghetto), it's at least interesting.
...and now for something completely different -- Not that I ever disagree with my corp-mates (not!), but your POS Update thread post vs. my corp mate Pricess Jodi (PJ we call him) was spot on - totally on pt.
The interesting dynamic however was that when we hit those Querious POS's with gunners on them (and active), we would simply go around them.
I know on one such occasion that the gunner would disrupt, scram, and then target the battleship and it would die (fast). We would warp out, lose one.. figuring this would go on forever, we would go around the POS. sounds like a good plan to me? I think those who lay down POS's just don't get the fact that you need to feed and take care of the Monkey.
I personlly have starbase def to 5 - just in case. --

For that reason, it's a great training ground for a corp that wants to make an entry into 0.0.
If you can survive and thrive in Cruse, you're like some kind of EvE-Fremen.

curse AND syndicate.
either are fine for first steps into 0.0 and learning the ropes of PvP. Hell, my usual advice for any noob that wants to learn to pvp is "stash some isk, jump to a clone with no implants, and buy some cheap frigates and go to syndicate and cause some havoc." ---

thanks for the kind words. My goal is to get people to stop themselves from saying, "its lag, it sucks, deal with it" as this truley limits the immense game play and oppertunities. I am for more fights, constant fights and a free flowing exisitence of constant combat in 0.0. All i get at is the fact the game breaks down, and when the grid doesn't load on warp in to a POS, the PDM gets free shots, can do whatever he/she likes and basically rap3s support cause he never needs a scram or web as ships just ram into the shields during de synch... i just want the mechanics to be level for everyone and allow smaller people a chance to experience the vast universe of tools and play styles that ARE IN THIS GAME. which make it great, but simple things are what hold back people from truley enjoying the magesty of internet space ship combat on the grandest scale, and the most amazing stage... i can only hope for the future....
Using curse as an example, because of the NPC nature of the majority of the systems, you really are in a difficult position. I would never suggest bringing new people out to 0.0 in curse, its just too brutal with no pay off and too many hosties runnin around. If you learn in curse about 0.0, god bless, you are truley a warrior...

Curse is by FAR the most bloody 0.0 region. Only delve could surpass it today I guess
I've had my alt in there for a couple of months, man you won't believe how many people I had to dodge.
Doing 3j trips anywhere in curse solo, in anything but a covops, was literally a flip of a coin. Hell, I once went idle for 2 hours for escaping the stationcamp I was docked at, only to jump out of the system and land in another blob that proceeded to spank me really hard.

Curse is great fun, almost all of the best fights I've had in Eve have been in Curse especially in the lower curse area (Doril, Jorrund, Hemin and Utopia systems). Only whacky thing is it tends to flip from Blue to red at the drop of a hat.
