Edited by: Lord Evangelian on 19/02/2008 22:17:32 Ship Anchoring Systems! I am talking about those annoying times where you are doing something that doesn't require movement, and you set the modules on. You realize that your ship isn't doing said task anymore and are boggled to why, and then realize that you are 5km away from where you were originally and have to travel back. Annoying if you are in a slow ship, even more annoying if you are in a fast ship becuase you end up out of the grid!
Even if it is not this, how about: -
Navigation System Diactivation You can turn off your ships thrusters so you are static in space
Stasis Drive System You can erect a stasis field around your own ship preventing movement
Auxiliary Thrusters Your ship adapts to potencial movement resulting in a stationary position ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NOTE: Not an idea or feature, just me asking if others agree, I will write a detailed account of a feature for development if people agree...

yes, this would be useful.
no it wont get done. -- it'll get shouted down by people claiming its unneeded, or the devs need to fix other bugs first, then the thread will get noticed by a mod and moved to the feature request forum, promptly buried under other good ideas, and forgotten.
just a heads up.

I know this hense my notice, becuase I have made detailed posts when i have had an Idea, and before long it gets buried and forgotten in that forum, so I thought I would just discuss it generally for for I post there. --------------------

Not the point, yes you can stop ship.
You tell me of an Ocean Liner that doesn't have an anchor so it doesn't drift away.
You tell me of an engine system that doesn't have an off button, where you can shut off the engines.
You tell me...you get the point (^-^) --------------------

Or you could tell your ship to stop and y'know, NOT tell it to move again

Anchoring ships would be interesting but the simple fact is it would get rid of my ability to bump macro miners out of the way!

well sometimes
sometimes
the ship starts to move on is own, or, occasionally, I found out that the ship decided to turn away and move on the opposite direction that was moving some 10 seconds ago.
sometimes I think that the EVE server has actually gained a mind of it's own and gets to giggle at our own cost with stupid pranks like a 8-year old brat.
it's a ****in' skynet with the mind of a 8-year old!
