Where should I start.
I can begin this by saying that I was specifically told by Senior CCP Staff BH Garik to come to this part of the EVE boards to post about this problem, so deleting this post will not help.
-ANYWAY!-
I bought the full crystal set in order to optimize my future dreadnought, awesome I thought, this will make a fine addition to my uber tank.
A couple of months later I was ready and well trained to properly fly my dreadnought so I undock in order to see my ship stats.
Strangely I notice that there is no boost to the shield booster what-so-ever.
So I file a bug report to the EVE team demanding a course of action for this nonsense because I wasted 2 billion isk or so on the crystal set and ladies and fellas the response I got from them have made me lose my faith in the dev team for this game.
(we had a long discussion before this response but it's the same response each time so I cut that out)
// Unfortunately, we cannot help you. Crystal sets don't apply to capitals, whereas most (if not all) others do, such as Slave. This is not a bug, so please do not continue to reply demanding action that will not happen.
BH Ancamna //
So I replied to them:
If it isn't specifically specified in the description that it does not affect capitals then yes it should be considered a bug.
I demand as a paying customer, the person who is paying for your job, that you forward this complaint to your superior because I will not allow you to play in this manner with my real life time and nerves.
The following reply is the WORST reply I have ever gotten from a game representative let alone a SENIOR LEAD.
"// This has gone far enough. The complaint has been forwarded to a superior and we have verified that it is not a bug. Our decision is based on the rules that we and our superiors have to adhere to. Continuously re-opening this issue and saying the same thing in the manner which you have is not allowed. I suggest you let the issue go and in the future do a little more research before investing your isk, the game isn't easy.
Regards - Senior/Lead BH Garik //"
Wait.. The game isn't easy? THE GAME -IS- -NOT- -EASY-?
Is that the response you get when you have been tricked into buying a bugged item? That the game isn't easy and that I should just swallow the fact that I wasted 2 bil isk that took me 2 years to gather on something I will never use?
It would take them 10 minutes to add that to the item description and save dozens of people from making the same mistake because I can only imagine how many Phoenix pilots that have made the same mistake, but no, the prefer to let this happen and tell the angry CUSTOMERS, (yes folks, we are not doing them a favour, THEY are the ones who should be doing US a favor. WE pay for the game) that
"sorry, you should have researched more before investing your isk, the game isn't easy." -Lead BH Garik.
WoW, Dark age of Camelot, Everquest, -insert mmo of choice here- all specify what class and what is needed and who is excluded from using a certain item in the item description, and I bet my soul on the fact that should you find an item who lacks a text that warns u that this item is only usable by a cleric that was made specifically for a cleric then they would consider it a bug.
Now why shouldn't an item that works for EVERY shield booster in the game but not cap shield boosters? To me it's pure logic that it should be included.
I am not the first, and certainly not the last to run into this problem and I think it's time for CCP to either admit that it's a frickin bug and fix it or reimburse us for lost time because this is not a tier 1 frigate that costs nothing. We're talking about billions here.
Not stating that it does not apply to capital shield boosters in the description is NOT different from adding a new UBER pvp ship that costs 2 bil to the game that requires caldari frigate lvl 1 only to find out that it requires Minmatar Titan lvl 5 once u try to activate the ship.

Given this I'm not really surprised by the emotive response.
You don't pay for their jobs, what you pay a month doesn't even pay for a server. People who talk as if their paltry monthly fee entitles them to their own personal assistant make me laugh.
Maybe if you hadn't been so insolent about the whole affair you could've asked them to remove the implants from your character and give you them in your cargo so you could resell them.

The day you spend 2 billions or 50% of whatever cash assets you posess on something you cannot remove once you activate it, say a rig or whatever then we can talk about this.
But until that day please just dissapear.

On a more serious note, I agree that it should be in the description of the implants that capital SBs are excluded from crystal love.

I'm not asking Garik to become my personal assistant.
I as a customer have the right to ask for help, advice and to be treated like a customer is supposed to be treated no matter how much I spend on the company itself.
Treat ur customers like crap, u will lose business, CCP are just lucky they have monopoly on the space mmo genre atm.

Well then, if thats how i feel ... can i have your stuff?
CCP do a wonderful Job, when you have 35k people online theres bound to be some confusion and some tempers.
The fact that CCP answer most if not all petitions is nothing short of a miracle, and i do empthase regarding 2 bil implants, but as you if your gonna fly a capital ship, you do need to research.
Be happy that you have a high grade crystal, there awesome!!!!

Just because CCP have all players on the same cluster does not mean it's harder to answer all petitions. Rethink your post.
As much as I despise the crappy game WoW, managing 10 million customers, now that's something.

That GM just saved you a dread. If you keep playing with such an ignorance or claim that dreads have a "super tank". You will lose it. Sooner rather than later.
It's the very same ignornace you show by postin on here.
EVE got one of the best customer services I've ever experienced both in my personal and professional life. Not the best, but one of the best.

Do you live in Zimbabwe? Because a company without an open phone line sure isn't on my list of companies with a top of the line support division.

I suggest you let the issue go and in the future do a little more research before investing your isk next time. And with little more research, I do mean through-out research. 2b is a lot of money, this procedure should be common sense. _______

Yes, they should put it in the description.
But, you should have done more research before spending that much isk.
Also your whiney "I demand!" attitude sucks, I think the BH was very polite considering.

You got something against my home country?
Amusing that you spend 2 billion isk (which is half your worth) on something that you have done absolutely no research on.

I absolutely agree with Tivook that it is a bug, because it doesnt say officialy anywhere that this set doesnt work with capital boosters.
If CCP would have good support to the customers, then they could offer to Tivook (and other, who got in the same trouble, because of CCP ingnorance to do proper description) to unplug those implants, so he could sell them and he would not loose money.
Shame that many ppl dont understand this issue.

If he gets his implants unplugged for his mistake then people should get skill training refunded for ships they dont want to fly anymore. Or attribute points redistrubuted. It doesnt say charisma is fairly useless anywhere on the character creation screen either.
Its a mistake he made and didnt research thoroughly into it and either way he hasnt lost a single thing. He got a set of crystal implants and a dread. Fair enough if it said that crystals worked with capital modules and they didnt that would be cause for complaint. But he made an asumption that they would. Tough luck. Either way you have a set of crystals and a dread and thats what you bought.
Need to be more careful with your money in future, i know if i was going to make a big investment like that i wouldnt make it based on assumptions.
YOU made a mistake and have to live with it.

While I agree that the crystal set description should include the problem, making a rectum out of yourself in petitions is not the way to handle things. Nor is this thread any better.
Balance dictates that the crystal set does not apply to cap shield boosters, you have your answer. It ends there.

Edited by: William Alex on 21/02/2008 14:20:47 While I agree with the OP on principle, his petition wasn't handled very well, AND, the description on Crystal Implants really should describe them accurately: I still have to say, you really should look around a bit before spending 2B if it took you "2 Years" to save up.

Actually, that would be the most sensible solution. There is no point penalising customers for not taking unoffical game sorces as 100% fact. It is not reasonable to expect customers to read tens of thousands of pages for every module they buy in case there is something missing.
It is CCP's fault and that is ok, they should just unplug the implants and everyone is happy and nobody gets screwed over CCP bug.

Exactly, not everyone reads out of game sources of information which is why this is CCP's fault and not the customers fault for not reading the boards 10 hours a day.
I even tried searching for "crystal" and it found nothing about the fact that it doesn't apply to capital shield boosters.

Re-Pettition to serior Gm and state that. Ask them to unplug the implants and we could get a happy story out of this at least.
