Edited by: flammkuchen on 27/02/2008 19:23:33 I now have this Bug the second time. The first Time I lost a Catalyst only, Today I lost my Brandnew Brutix. I'm really sad about the situation and I want to see CCP moving on this Issue. It's related to Targets, the Target-Focus, Ingame Hotkeys to launch Drones (I have SHIFT + D), NPC, the Target-Focus on an NPC, the Pressing of a Hotkey, the Kill of the Target-Focused-NPC in the moment the Launch-Drones-Hotkey is pressed and the Target-Focus-Jump from the NPC-Target to a Wreck-Target.
It happens the following:
- Target of a Wreck
- Put the Focus on the Target of the Wreck by clicking that Target.
- Start to Salvage of that Wreck
- Target an NPC
- Put the Focus on the Target of that NPC by clicking that Target.
- Launch Drones via Hotkey (SHIFT+D in my Case)
- The Moment you press the Hotkey, the NPC is being destroyed
- The Target-Focus jumps from the NPC to the Wreck.
- Your Drones start to fight the Wreck without (!) being asked first if you like to continue with a hostile act.
- Instead the question is written in the gamelog only.
- Your security Status is lowered
- You get concorded
That's how it goes. I lost two ships because of that Bug. I name it Focus-Jump-While-Hotkey-Pressed. The Security Warning (Yes/No-Question-Dialog) is not displayed in that case. Normally you would press No instead of pressing Yes and saying: Yes, please Concord me.
I want to use Hotkeys ingame with no obligations like I use the mouse. Are there any Plans to fix that Bug? Does this game truly ensure the security warning is properly shown? How Do I get my Ship and Stuff back? I'd like to continue to play the game but I don't want to write Petitions only because I use Hotkeys. Any more Ideas, Hints, Feedbacks? Any official Comments by GM, CCP-Coders, the Marketing or Help?

If the wrecks are your own, Concord leaves you alone
Just don`t use drones around other people`s wrecks....

I lol'd @ 'Yes, please Concord me.'
I'm not sure this is necessarily a 'bug' per-se as it is a bad way to manage drones. There really shouldn't be a reason drones should be attacking a wreck anyway; and unless anyone has any objections, the part of their AI that allows for aggression against wrecks should probably be removed. However, since you can't count on that, you're best to probably solo-salvage with your drones back in the bay, or experiment with your hotkeys and the drone aggression settings in a cheaper ship (a throw away t1 ship w/ 1 drone will do nicely).
Dunno if that helps much, but It's better than experimentation w/ a BC

I fail to see the bug. Works as intented to me.
Falls in the category: "Lock a player in empire and accidently activat a gun instead of a ship scanner." or
"Lock another player and your own jetisoned container. Blow up your can with F1, F2, F3, F.... oops."
In short: be more careful for crying out loud!

Aint a bug m8, this is how drone aggression works.
If you don't want this to happen set your drones to passive and they wont do anything you do actually tell them which, honestly, is the smart thing to do in empire. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

In any of theses cases you should get a security warning. But it's the security warning that does not appear which is the bug.
It has nothing to do with not being carefully. The Security Warning Dialog is the Instanace where you can act responsible and in a secure matter. Unfourtionatly beacause of the Bug I can not take the precautions I'd like to and me as a player is aware of and dealing with.

Achoura, this has nothing to do with drone agression. Infact, I have a passive Drone Setting.

I think I see what you've got going on here. Your drones are set to passive and you have a wreck targeted on the one instance and a target on the other, right?
At the top of your screen, You'll have 4 spinning arrows over your highlighted (selected) target. Regardless of the highlighted target in your overview, that is the currently selected target. When you start messing around with things in your fov, you can inadvertently take your selection off of what your overview has highlighted and what is actually your 'target'.
I guess the question is: is that really necessarily a 'bug'? Since this is the way it's always been, I would have to say NO because I'm used to clicking things in my overview a few times to assure that i have the correct target. Unfortunately, I've been either Concorded or gotten myself into trouble a few times to teach me how to do that. I don't think it's a bug, it's just part of the games' function. On the other hand, it's not a very efficient way of streamlining how the Overview interacts with the rest of your environmental changes and how they react to real time in the HUD.
Kind of iffy. I'd almost like to see this changed too, but I'm so used to the way it is now, it would take me ages to adapt to that.

Enkilil, thanks for your detailed comment but what I miss is the discussion about the security warning that does not pop up. Shouldn't it pop up when you begin a hostile act like sending drones to attack a foreign wreck?

Not sure if there's a way to reset that warning message.
The closest in the game menu would be:
Reset Settings tab Reset Suppress Message Settings
"Confirm attacking of an innocent player in Empire Space"
I'd say if that doesn't bring the warning window back, you've got an unfixable situation, ie: a bug.

get a cheap ship with a drone bay. I think the ibis can field a single light drone, iirc
make sure all pop-ups are activated
find someones wreck. target wreck
activate turret on wreck. did you get a pop-up? if yes, then say no, i dont want to get concorded
launch drone, and tell drone to attack. did you get a pop-up?
if not, then the real bug is no aggression warning dialogs on drone actions. The drone is prolly getting the dialog, not you :)
Basically what IM trying to say is all the steps in your path might be un-needed, and creating confusion about what you are describing. There are other various holes in which you should get a dialog but dont, we just need to verify whats the deal with this one.
Originally by: Meridius Dex I could actually fit a Thorax WITH LASERS and get better DPS, better speed, better tank and - wait for it - better cap stability

I had something similar happen only I was trying to shoot an ore thief. I had the hauler locked and was waiting for him to steal, only a noob in an ibis stole the ore into his own can for the hauler to take without flagging. I activated guns on the ibis just as it went into warp, so instead of shooting the criminal, the guns automatically shot the hauler instead and brought on concord.
There should be an option to NOT auto focus on the next available target when the one with focus is lost.

There is: Set Auto Target Back to zero
It doesn`t solve the whole problem
Btw, ref the warning pop-up window: I know it can be annoyimg, but DO NOT disable it, or it won`t re-appear next time

Gaogan, only to clarify: so in your case you would have normally got the warning dialog (yes/no to click) but in this case there it was not?

And it happened again. The Petition keeps unanswered since days and I'm really ****** up with the sit that each time you recover and start to have a more pacefull ingame action i'm stopped by CONCORD and being acused as a criminal. That really sucks! For what do I pay the money?

I wanted to try this out myself, but I couldn't find a hotkey from the list to launch drones; I thought you had to do that manually from overview?

Ladyah, you made a quote but just the posting before yours states the following:

You shouldn't bet when it's clear you lost already the bet. And I always said: I triple checked my Settings. And Warnings are on. So any here saying the opposite I'll ignore now.

You need to setup a Hotkey inside Preferences for this first. I have taken SHIFT+CTRL+D.
@all:
I made a Bugreport now: Security Warning does not Show up. (ID: 53845)
Description: When you have Security Warnings enabled, under specific circumstances they do not appear. Under these circumstances you will then accidently commit a hostile act, your security status is lowered and you're concorded.
Hotfix: Available (see below) Happened: 3 Times in 4 Days Reproduceable: Yes Petition: 1022589 GM: Hocopor Forum-Thread: 714460
Hotfix: Disable Hotkeys for hostile Acts (Engage Drones in the reported case). This does not happen while using the mouse.
Reproduction Steps: 1) Enable Security Warnings 2) Target a foreign Wreck, Shot at it with your guns by Mouse. 3) A Security Warning appears, Press the NO Button. If the Warning does not appear please Check Steps 1) to 3) 4) Setup SHIFT+CTRL+D as Hotkey for the Action that says "Drones engage Target". 5) Target a NPC. 6) Press SHIFT+CTRL+D. Your Drones should attack the NPC, if not please Check Steps 4) to 6) 7) Target a Foreign Wreck. 8) Press SHIFT+CTRL+D 9) A Security Warning should appear. If not this is already a Bug. If it appears press NO and continue to reproduce. If it does not Appear, please report back to the Bugreporter. 10) A more specific Situation needs to created now after setting up the tested global environment. This Situation is Named "Situation A". It consists of the following properties:
A-1) Clear all Targets A-2) Target a foreign Wreck A-3) Target an NPC A-5) Focus that NPC-Target A-6) Ensure that the NPC constantly goes down with Hitpoints. A-7) Take a Location for this with little Lag A-8) The moment the NPC will become disappearing but still is there, press SHIFT+CTRL+D to engage the near-dead NPC-Target with your drones. A-9) The moment you press SHIFT+CTRL+D the NPC MUST disappear. This is a property of Situation A that needs to be ensured. A-10) The Focus jumps to the left wreck target. A-11) Your drones will now attack the wreck.
Please Note: A-11) is a Hostile Act that will lower your security status. 9) has shown that a warning should appear under these circumstances. But it does not.
Not surprised enough? Check your gamelogs and you'll see that the game writes down, that a question has been asked.
I'm interested in your Feedback, If you have any more questions, please let me know.

I had a similar problem. I went missioning with my freind and after the battle there were like 30 cans lying around. So i decided to loot the good ones and destroy the bad ones (I do this so I don't get confused about which cans I already looted and so forth - and it's fun ). Of course I use drones and a hotkey. Looted 2 cans and destroyed them, I tell my drones to engage the 3rd one, and all of a sudden I see a sec hit and then concord slaps me into oblivion. No warning at all, not even in my gamelog. It was a freinds can, but no warning told me that I'll be concorded if I try to destroy the can (we were ganged so all the cans were white to me). And I know I didn't disable the warning. I lost around 100mil (my first battleship )
I know shooting other players cans is a no-no, but having no warning really stinks.

For the moment I can only suggest to not use Hotkeys for Engage Drones. Maybe other Hotkey'ed actions are without security messages as well, I do not clearly know.
The good news: I got a (little) Comment from a Bughunter because of my Bugreport. It's a Bug and it is fixed in Version 1.1 of the client. I do not know if it means it really is fixed in 1.1 or it is planned to be fixed in 1.1.
So in case you want to get your stuff back because of this bug, file a petition telling that the message did not appear and send the Bug-ID: 53845. The GAs who handle the petitions need to have a "certified" bug before they really shake their buddy. Looks like it takes 4 days right now before you get an answer.

Well this Gamesupport really sucks. Now they say, they can not see anything in their logs. I just replied, I'd like to see the logs to make me an image on my own.
I could talk that "techni-clear" as well as long as long I'm shure that every stupid user never has the chance to even argue with me. What do those GMs think who they are? What does CCP think what their job is? No-One told them they should develop an online game playable over the internet. And now? What can they stand?
At least I asked only to correct my security status. No ISK, no Items, no Stuff. Just the sec status. IT IS A CONFIRMED BUG I REPORTED. IS THAT THE WAY YOU TREAT YOUR GOOD WILLING CUSTOMERS? WHERE IS THE MANAGEMENT?
