It may be the 5th AT, but its stream performance is worse than the first one.

Hi guys, I have been speaking with our streaming provider, and they have suggested the following steps to troubleshoot any streaming issues you may have:
"Users experiencing stuttering, buffering, or poor stream performance should verify their download speed prior to sending in requests to support. Browse to test sites such as www.speedtest.net and test their speed from several locations. You should have over 600 kbps download speed."
For those having issues connecting at all - are you able to click on this link to get the stream working?
If that does not work - can you paste "http://ccpgames.total-stream.net/CCPGames" into "File -> Open URL" in windows media player, and try and access it that way?

Hmm, could you ask them to set up a 2nd, lower bw [bitrate/fps/res] stream for lamers out in 3rd world countries with 384kbps etc. Since the mms stream has a method to detect the max bitrate stream that you can use and manual swapping is possible.

Still having issues. my bandwidth is fine. I have broadband, satellite broadband, and 3g (160KB/s) and all 3 go buffering badly.
Satellite is on german ip, the others are irish.
But I have a little hack.. I found it annoying when during the fighting the stream cuts out, if you uncheck "Drop late frames" option on VLC the steam will do its best to continue playing it may be juttery but at least you will be able to finish watching the fight.. the audio will drop when this happens but its better than nothing.
Something other than FAQ answers would be better when it affects so many people.

When you run that test - are you testing to a very close location, or to far away?
If you can - try and run tests to speedtest servers in the following locations:
San Jose, CA
Chicago, IL
Washington DC
London UK
These are the locations of the streaming servers today.

Cool, I used a US public proxy server and got onto a US stream server. Performance is much much much better.
What seems to be happening, from what VLC is showing, is the the downstream is constant from the UK server, but despite that, the video/audio stream itself breaks down. Could mean a problem feeding the UK stream server? But for now .. I am happily watching the US stream..

7176kbps download result from speedtest, but it still keeps re-buffering, freezing all sorts :(

This is exactly what i'm getting too, was fine first hour or so (just like yesterday) then the stream pretty much breaks down and I get to see or hear (rarely both) a minute here and there..

Streamign is far worse than last championship. THen i had a 600 k conenction and could wathc it smooth. Now i have a 4 MB conenction, and I just ested am able to download at more than 400 KBytes/s from an UK site. And today its completely unwatchable. 90% of time buffering.
Horrible service. CCP dump those guys you hired for this

I couldnt find a washington DC server on speed test BUT the other 3 I have run a speed test on whilst also streaming the eve tourny at the same time so bear i mind that was taking up some of my bandwidth

I get 27000 kbps down and 2600 kbps up to london, yet I still get one frame every ten seconds of the stream, and stuttering audio. How about you post the direct links to all the different geographical streams, so we can try others instead of being forced onto the London one?

If you are continuing to experience streaming issues, despite having good results reported by speedtests - it would be a good idea to mail your IP to [email protected], so that they can further investigate.
If you could include "EVETV" in the subject, it will get to the right people who are looking into this.

Im playing it on WIndows media player (the only option that works for me) and the video looks like there is a thick layer of white film over it. everything is whiter, and it is extremely hard to distinguish the ships during the battles. Is there anyway to fix this?

Streaming issues here too.
Running a 6 mbit connection in germany :
First day : unable to watch anything at all
Second day : Got provided with another stream link from totalstream support . Was able to watch yesterdays stream perfectly .
Today : Used same stream link as on second day . Was fine until around match 2 where it started to lag and finally stoped . Restarting the stream worked for around 5-10 secs all the time .

Just an idea for CCP - I'm not sure about a legality of the software or of the process itself, but there are programs for P2P video streaming, like Sopcast, TVAnts etc. It distributes the load among many computers and there's no need to have a dedicated super server for the broadcasting. Of course, may be the amount of ppl interested in the tournament is not enough to support the stream, and this will make this idea irrelevant.

Hm i think you can forget the stream in Germany at all.
All my corpmates who tried to watch it could not do so because of
- buffering all 20 seconds
- getting one image all 30 seconds or having the "radio" experience.
I think we represent the majority of locations in Germany and almost all known providers here.
Are you sure this has not to do with your end of the side?
As someone already said here these problems started after the 2nd match or so. It looks like the stream is too weak for all the watching people.

Poland here, the stream works most of the time horribly, i got to reconect every 5 mins to get a slideshow and voice, after ~5 minuts , it dies tottaly. On a 2 MB ADSL.
And compared to others my Eve gameplay is usually less laged then my friends so i was surprised the stream was so bad...

The problem seems to be on your side. Dont have the time to send a report to totalstream.net but thats your job anyway.

We are working closely with totalstream to help viewers identify where their issues are, however in most cases it is a bandwidth issue between the viewer and the server that they connect to. I have confirmed with totalstream that the feed from our studio to them, and their internal backbone between streaming servers are all working correctly.
As such, contacting the totalstream support department will be very useful, as it helps them build a picture of where potential bottlenecks are occuring, and they may be able to provide assistance in getting things working for you.

Is there a list of all available proxies? The main issue for most ppl is the connection between their ISP to the proxy, nearly everyone has enough raw speed to run this video stream flawlessly.

I had no Problems on Friday and yesterday.
From today on when I start the stream after like 5-10 sec it freeze, picture and sound! It dont start over only if I manually start my VLC Player.
Media Player dont work for me either

It's the worst quality ever for me. Constant rebuffering, audio only stream or buffer is being dropped sometimes. It's not my connection as I was watching Bloomberg TV without any buffering at all. I'm very disappointed with the stream quality, unfortunately, stream providers are not getting better from tourney to tourney, cheaper may be, but not better.

Been trying to watch since the beginning, had the freezing problem the first week (still happens with VLC) but this week it's just major buffering using WMP, so much so it sometimes re-buffers even before the first buffering sesh finishes.
Contacted the stream provider and they managed to get me about an hours worth of "alright-ish" streaming last week but it didn't last. I was totally hooked on the last tournament and the streaming was more than adequate, this is just unwatchable and a waste of time for anyone that's affected.
I'll be trying again every so often, but no doubt I'll have little to no success.

Please read what Mindstar said. I was having the same problems and sent them my IP address. They identified a problem on my route and gave me a new address within about 20 minutes and it has been fine since.

I've got a stable connection in the Netherlands atm ( 8th 15:50 )
But Friday ( 7th ) when I tried to restart the stream after the pause and after the Ushra'Khan match to watch the commentary it wouldnt come on.

its always like this on weekends. friday the stream was fine but due to the amount of people trying to watch it atm the streaming sever is struggling. best thing i can say for you guys who are having problems is to wait and watch it when it gets uploaded tomorrow

Really bad for me today, was bad yesterday, much worse today. Every 5 secs, video locks up, then audio goes too after a while. Gutted

As before - I would strongly advise those having issues with the stream to contact [email protected]. They are more than willing to help troubleshoot connection issues that may be causing problems viewing the stream.

I think some people gave up and disconnected, coz I haven't done anything but it's better than it was 20 minutes ago, but it's still a bit choppy.

OK, the support guys responded very quickly, advised me to try another stream and so far, so good- very stable...

It's terrible again now after 3-4 minutes with pretty good feed. I'm back in bufferville now.

Just a quick FYI - if totalstream send you a link, it is generally one that is going to work specifically for you from your own connection. Posting direct links to their servers really messes with load balancing and stream optimisation.

Yet again another ballsed up performance by CCP. Nice ideas. Cr*p execution.
Having the media player pick the bandwith itself is a huge c*ck-up. It seems to pick the nominal bandwith for the client, and then tries to send the stream that matches that bandwidth, but then of course the CCP server can't keep up with it's own selected bandwith and the result is a completely useless stream that is just a pain in the you-know-what to watch! LET PEOPLE PICK THEIR OWN BANDWIDTH for christ sake!!!!
How difficult can that be??????

I emailed Total Stream with my IP, my speedtest.net results, my location and what media players I' ve tried in. They got back to me within five minutes and have supplied a link that is current running flawlessly (touch wood).
To those that are having trouble still and haven't emailed Total Stream, I recommend doing so as it has worked wonders and was a very quick service.

Media Player, Winamp, an firefox seem to be having serious issues opening the file. But the VLC player you can find Here will open it. it's not exactly straight forward though. You'll want to open a network stream, select the HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS option an enter this mms://ccpgames.total-stream.net/CCPGames into the field and then open it. This should make the stream work for those that can't connect at all.
