the log
ccp... could you find a way to... fix that?
if you want some idea... go look on the IRC... that protocol exist since 1988 and they fond a huge amount of way to fix these type of problems!
I mean... it is pretty easy to fix
on IRC if you send too much msg in X seconds, you lose connection... why not muting the user on EVE for X seconds/minutes?
CCP, could you PLEASE split GTC and character forum?
thanks! |

These threads appear everyday.
Seems so easy to stop, or at least heavily reduce the spamming by just putting some filters/chat limitations in place. It's a serious issue that plagues the newer players, I wonder why CCP are taking so long...

You want to know a game that does an excellent job of stopping currency-spam websites?

You want to know a game that does an even better job of stopping currency-spam websites?
Everquest II.
CCP, I'll PAY for one of your devs to get an EQ2 account and see first-hand how it's done right.

1st question: Did you petition it?
2nd question: How do you determine a regular player talking in a channel, from a spammer? Hmm? Code in place that auto logs the previous message from the same user into memory and then pattern matches each new text sent from the player?
Yeah that sounds easy.

Spammer websites are simply filtered out, and I believe spam keywords are filtered also by the heuristics of their anti-spam system. Only once in the last year have I recieved an actual private-message that was spam, otherwise all I see is: "Spam message recieved from <insert spammer name>, click here to read.". It automagically catches them incoming, and does a fantastic job of it. Same with their private mail (evemail) system, there's an inbox, and outbox, and a spambox. Spam gets routed right to the box and gets deleted automatically over time. You may know that you get it, but you never have to actually see it unless you want to, either in real-time or in mail.
CCP seriously needs to get a real-time and evemail filter, quickly.

I shouldn't have to petition it. I am a mere human player, the spammers are tireless bots.
In every other part of the internet, filters take on bots. That's all we're asking for.

They really need to start blocking those URLs. (and variations of them)
Yes, I know the spammers can just set up another domain, but which takes longer: Adding a URL to a block list or registering and setting up a new internet domain?
Hell, I'd be happy to monitor some channels myself...
