No worries Zaltor. Commentator dialog doesn't cause ships to explode, and in the end.. that's all it comes down to.
I think more people should simply enjoy the tourney. There are some great players out here giving their all. How often does EVE give you the opportunity of evenly balanced fights against some of its best and brightest? Pretty darn rarely. Revel in them.

The crap talking does spoil it, if its an alliance they are buddy buddy with or someone they fear on TQ they don't say anything except "Oh well that didn't work out but it was a solid attempt and setup" but some of the smaller alliances its all snarky and smart arsed comments.
Comments are inevitable but compared to the last tournament the crap talk has gotten absurd and I think CCP should question having player based commentary and panels in future tournaments.
Just to add I'm not referring to the EVE TV regular staff as they act in what can be described as a professional manner and don't take the p*ss despite what personal opinions they may have. ========================================= A Man chooses, a slave obeys. |

Funnily IAC and KIA are two groups we have slapped around a bit in Stain, funny that :)'
think you got dis-respected, try being a crimson pilot!
we try something diff on first fight, got slatted and made out to be noobs with no clue, second fight, we go with a game plan and smack iac around and all we get is 'iac lost that as they warped in wrong' not 'well done crimson, good call' third time, we go for a dps set-up against cosa (who went for same) and we get made out to be noobs again!
this is our first tourny and to of beaten one of the 'toruny favourites' was def a good thing for us.
the only good thing that has been said about us is by calmdown apoligizing for saying we had no chance before the second match.
mind you watching thyraxx try and avoid talking about his loss last night was highly amusing, but big respect to his pimp hat!
so please next friday spiral and gang, some nice words if you please?? then if we die call us noobs!
TYRRAX AVOID TALKING ABOUT TYRRAX ? WTF ARE YOU SMOKING ? LOL.

The smack was present since last tourney as well due to commentators forgetting that they SHOULD be commenting on MATCHES and not putting their personal opinion or biases due to in-game affiliations.
Also imo the selection of ppl is just wrong , like why pick someone who doesn't even play or someone who run website what ever or some celebrity ?!! Those are not grounds to mean that this person will provide good commentary , on the other hand it just loads more smack or extremely poor hearing. I think CCP is mixing up between celebrity style talk show and match commentary and those 2 are not even closely related , first option its fine to express the persons view biases or what not but in second option no one realy cares or want to listen to it.

Couldn't agree more, criticism is par for the course and some of the teams have earned criticism but this panel and the commentators keep crossing the line into smacking and its driven by personal opinions.
I also think this handbags at dawn business between two of the panel members further illustrates how far the smacking and personal bias has gone this year. ========================================= A Man chooses, a slave obeys. |

Actually Tyrrax you were a bit hard to understand but if you dont know how well mics pick up voices thats understandable. What bothered me is you rarely looked up.... it appeared you were constantly looking at your hands or your junk or Spiral's junk. /me cares not to comment
For all your*****iness on the forums you didn't show it as much as say Stavros who appears*****y on both forums and eve-tv.
{edit} even though it looks like 5 letters were blocked by filter it was actually a 4 letter word that may refer to a rooster

I'm sure there's a way to strike a balance between a proper match commentary and something that's entertaining with the right amount of humor and off the cuff randomness. Regarding the commentary portion, there is a limitation to the tools they're using such that they're not always able to get in and see the action properly to give a good solid point of view on the action. Hopefully that's something they can rectify.
All I know is that the balance I mention isn't there, and I agree right now there's an inordinate amount of ego flaunting and smack. I'm not saying eliminate that altogether, the panel and commentary folks have their distinct personalities which need to come through to make things enjoyable for everyone involved. But don't let it overshadow their real purpose for being there. They're there to service the tournament and the viewers, not have a party. This can be accomplished while still having fun.
I'm not saying it's all bad, there's certainly some great examples of how to do it right. NinjaTurtle, in my opinion, is a real standout here, and I wish he wasn't constantly being lost in the noise. He seems to at have put some decent thought and effort into being there.
