Over this weekends EVETV, I have constantly seen many alliances who are lesser known, or in groups where they probably won't make it though consistently bullied.
My Alliance, Destiny, has been called bottom of the barrel, so 2007, and boring, with setups which have been fielded by the bigger alliances who are more well known, yet, those Alliances get nothing but good feedback...
Ive enjoyed EVETV over the past tournaments, but this time it just feels like the so called Experts only want the big, well known teams to be there, theres litrally no respect for smaller, or lesser known alliances in this tournament.
I think the biggest Eve Bully has to be Eddz, who has probably not said a good thing about any of the smaller and lesser known alliances this whole tournament, has slagged of multiple setups, of which his own alliance has fielded since!
I would hope that EVETV begins to respect those alliances who maybe they dont know much about, and begins to restore a level of profesionalism to next weeks matches, because if the poorness of these experts continues, next tournament altho we will enter i will certainly not be watching, along with several others who feel the same way!

Likewise.
The Church are pretty small but we have been lavished with praise and confidence in our abilities...
A bit of smack, and brutally honest comment is all good. This isnt politically correct, sanitised sports commentary- its supposed to be fun!

It's a simple system. We have people who offer their opinions on what they see. Do well, and hear praise. Do badly, and hear criticism. Be in KIA, and hear mocking (but only because we love Eddz, KIA are great competitors). _

This falls under the "you cannot please all of the people all of the time" category and selective memory will be in your corner also.
As pointed out there have been many instances of hoping the underdog will do well.
MC get a right good kicking, "doing an MC".
IAC get it the neck as do KIA, pretty much coz the leaders are sitting in the studio at the time and its a lot more sport picking on a target that can fight back.
BOB never stop getting it in the neck for bringing the same setup (and they are not even in it this year).
The list does go on.
People are criticised for bringing boring setups and then the crew reminds people, they are not in the tournie to be entertaining, they are in it too win.
I'd say the criticism this year is less than previous, the difference is your one of the teams in the limelight this year, and kudos to you for being so.

The whole weekend only one person gave us a good comment, that was CCP Mindstar...
Even after beating a team on day 2 who was expected to be a contender to get into the top 16... Nothing...
We get a TotalHellDeath, and all we get is our setup called boring...
Given were apparantly a 'bottom of the barrel' alliance, currently sitting in Second place in our group, with a chance of making top 16.
Theres several other alliances who have been exactly the same, outperforming expectations, and still being torn a new one...

Come and join ATUK 5n4keyes. The corp was founded on the principles of showing respect and courtesy to the wider eve population. I must admit I agree with you, I think it is apauling that the Eve TV presenters say what they do about alliances that field absolutely terrible setups.
If I was an Eve TV panel member I would try and make it as un-controversial as possible and VERY serious business. This way no ones feelings would be hurt and every one would be happy in the knowledge that the setup they fielded didnt loose because it sucked, but more because God wanted it that way. ______________________________

Thats just the way it is. SMall alliances have to earn a name first. The big alliances are expected to do well by default.
This is our 3rd tourney and I remember very well all the commentators saying we were going to lose in the previous tourneys most of the time. Now after having played 2 tourney pretty well they have more confidence in us. Again...Its just the way it is.

Nebula Rasa have been a respected team for the past 3 tournements. The Church wouldn't have the credability they have with the panel if it wasn't for INFOD (3>).
The new guys are being shat on by the evetv team in a way. The reason being that the unknown teams are just that, unknown. They can't help it, it's like a 4th division team playing with premier league giants. A bit of respect would be in order but its so easy to ***** a joke and have a laugh, the panel are talking about pixels, not real life sports on real tv.
I suggested ages ago to have some sort of divisional tournament so the smaller guys would have a chance to earn their place fighting against the bigger alliances. Unfortunately no-one will spare the effort or resources to run such a thing.

I think that initial performance is what really determines the commentators opinions on the unknowns. We are after all unknown so you have to make a good first impression. They seem to love us :) But I do see how they are somewhat unfair on the losing teams.
as in all things, respect has to be earned.

It's a double edged sword to be honest. Last time around Star Fraction received very little in the way of respect, along with RP groups in general, up until we beat BoB. Suddenly after that we come into this tournament as "one of the big boys" with a whole ~150 members, and when we flop our first match against Molotov it's an enormous upset.
Personally, while I did get quite irked with the amount of disrespect for RPers in the last tournament, it gave us something to prove and helped us quite a bit I think. Take it in stride and enjoy being the underdog. Nobody expects much from the underdog, including your opponents. ____________________ GM Sunshine > oops Neurotica > Hate to see a GM in your gang say 'oops'

I think our **** poor performance in the 2nd and 3rd tournements probably had a lot to do with RP alliances having a bad rep.
I was a bit annoyed at eddz for the "we slaughtered ushra'khan in our war" jibe before our match, that was a bit of a stretch. However when we spanked his team I felt a whole lot better!
On the whole though, I think the eveTV have been equal opportunity bullies and taken a shot at everyone that deserved it.

I think it's a question of a lot of big egos coming into this and not everyone can get the highest of praise. Myself I'd rather let them correct themselves as time go by and we've proven ourselves in the field.

They don't give us all that much love either :P
Honestly though.. Just come in, and show them what you got. Thats the best that can be done.
The commentators are biased, and thats to be expected. The best any of us can do is show them that just because our alliance is a bit smaller, it doesn't make us a non-entity :)

The reason they pick on us is because they've never heard of us. We aren't a big force or involved in 0.0 politics, we also don't come on the forums and beat our chest or start flame wars or anything like that.
And as far as being bottom of the barrel, it very much seemed that way after our first match. Though you guys did a great job in our second and third Snake.

To be fair mate, KIA has been ripped mercilessly by the commentators, probably more than any other Alliance and Eddz has taken it all in good humour. It's mostly just tounge in cheek banter and it shouldn't be taken too seriously.

You're basically right, though I'd say there's more emphasis on trashtalking any group that loses.
That's pretty much the risk of 'color' commentators. If they say nothing at all that's contentious then they end up being dull.

Eddie I don't remember U'K taking part in the 3rd tournament. It was the 1st and 2nd and the 1st was not a bad showing if I recall. U'K didn't get very far but there were no group matches in the 1st, it was just a knockout table all the way.

can't help but disagree here. well I I agree and I don't.
I think the pressue on well known allainces is wrost. Like MC, if you lose 1 match suddenly it's really really bad.
while a smaller allaince can lose a match and have things like "well it's wasn't a bad set up it's to bad it didn't work"
