Currently experiencing huge memory usage by eve clients. I have started running with classic gfx and no cache and yet can still end up with eve client running at 300,000k and even 500,000k on one occasion.
I have a e6850 (i think!) dual core, 8800gtx gfx card and 2 gig of ram. Yet 2 eve clients and eve mon means my comp lags and freezes and uses up loads of the page file from the hd thats used as ram.
Never had this problem before the last patch but obv i am exploring other reasons than eve for the overall high memory usage of pc. The size of eve client usage tho still bothers me.
Anyone else had similar??

I believe that 300-400MB is about the expected memory usage for the client - I only have vague memories of a dev post to back that up, though, as well as my own experience with the Premium client with classic graphics.

On 27th of march, i think, i started having BSOD problems, huge ones, after no hardware/software changes on the PC. After 2 clean Windows XP installs and countless troubleshooting here's part of the problem:
Eve gives the blue screen of death after a failed interaction with the nvidia display driver. On a fresh install, with drivers i used for months and were stable, nothing extra and without the premium eve content installed at all.
#1st problem: Was in the character selection screen, i clicked the character portrait and i was entering the game.
Event viewer entry: Application popup: Windows - Display Driver Stopped Responding : The nv4_disp display driver has stopped working normally.
The driver nv4_disp for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly.
#2nd problem
BSOD in the character selection screen as it was loading the faces (i didn't get the chance to press any button), nothing else to do but to reset. Blue screen message was also related to the nv4_disp file.
Managed to enter the game and sat in a station for 1 hour, on default settings with no other crash.
The following days i'll test some more, with premium graphics enabled, but to put it short, it seems the EVE client causes some serious problems lately. Starting with the middle of last week i got so many blue screens that i haven't seen in all my life, all while playing EVE and all without installing nothing new (drivers or hardware) on my PC.
PC Config: XP SP2 CPU: Barton 2500 (1833MHz) MB: NForce2 Ultra 400 MCP Mem: Standard speed DDR400 2x512 in dual channel working at 333MHz, 1:1 syncronization with CPU's FSB VGA: GeForce 6800GS on AGP, driver version 6.14.11.6218 (the 162.18 drivers, latter versions for the 6th generation - 163.75 and 169.21 - proved to cause problems to me) Sound: Creative's Audigy2 ZS Driver version: 5.12.4.1196

Some DED sites, or DED agents in space, apparently show up on multispectral probes as "unknown" sites, which is highly confusing, since they cannot be found using probes.
This is backed purely by empirical evidence, and the general opinion of the Exploration channel. Examples (supposedly) include Gicodel and Lirsautton in Everyshore region.
If this is the case, two good fixed would be to either not have them show up on multispectrals, or to make them show up on regular probes. That is, either make them probe-able (probable?) or non-probe-able.

Going to ice belts repeatedly, will result in a memory usage of around 1 gig, at which point your client will eventually crash, regardless how much memory you have. Under WinXP this can be by prevented by switching to windowed mode (hit Alt + Enter) minimizing the client, maximizing it and switching back to fullscreen mode. This will reset memory usage to around 200-300 MB. Unfortunately this will not work under vista. Interestingly until Trinity 1.1 Vista never had this problem... _________________________________________________

Attempting to create a new character on this account.
The client stays at the "Fetching Data" load bar between the portrait generation and naming screens indefinitely. Scroll bar moves all the way to the right, then nothing else happens. The client is still functioning according to windows. i.e it's not a crash. Any thoughts?

[Edit] On a sidenote, as of Trinity 1.1 quiting EvE often results in Windows terminating the client by reporting that Exefile.exe has caused a problem.
i also have this Problem But I run 1 GB of ddr2 it seems to only happen when the number of players in system reaches a critical mass. I've lost a Golem that was reumbursed due to this. my other ship was lost due to the same problem But hasen't as of yet. If you have this bug please file a detailed Bug report as this seems to be a serious 'LEAK' Issue. and it can get Very Costly Very Quickly. and yes I do Know 3 others just in my aliance that have the same problem. |

prior to the patch I was able to do info on skills I have yet to train. wether they are skills I can train or skills I lack the prerequiste to train.
Since patch i can no longer rightclick a untrained skill and get info on it. But I have to opent he market and type in the skillname there to get the info.
Why was this changed? Seems like a step backwards to me.
