Edited by: Hylinn on 04/03/2008 20:29:06 I have been playing EVE for about 2 weeks and have been flying a cormorant for a majority of that time. Recently I have been training skills that make me better at railguns and turret use. For my stats you can hit up inEve.
Here is what I currently have installed on my cormorant:
High Slots: 4x 150mm Carbide Railgun I 3x 125mm Carbide Railgun I
Medium Slots: Small Neutron Saturation Injector I Small F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Low Slot: Local Power Plant Manager: Diagnostic System I
What I want to know is: How could I make this even better for PvE? I currently am running level 1 missions. I don't plan on running level 2 until I get my cruiser in a few days. I am under a budget because I am saving up for a Moa. What changes could I make that would improve my build even slightly for a reasonable amount of ISK. -------------------------------------------------- I choose not to use abbreviations. Each post should contain sentences and should be noob friendly. Grammar and spelling errors are not acceptable. |

If you really would want to kill things a bit easier use a Stasis Webifier (X5 or if you're really poor, langour drive disruptor) instead of one of the shield modules. Use Antimatter charges in high slots as they provide hefty damage.

I would suggest you use 125's all around, to free up grid and cpu for more tank. Once you get energy upgrades IV, shield upgrades IV, and engineering V (it seems like a long ways off, but they're useful through out your eve career).
Assuming you're fighting Guristas...
Low: Power Diagnostic II
Mids: 1MN Named Afterburner 2x Passive Racial Shield Resistance Amps (2 kinetic 1 thermal) Small Shield Booster II (use as necessary - learning how to cycle the shield booster will help you in the long run)
Highs: 7x 125mm railgun (tech 2 for my fit - allows you to use spike ammo and antimatter) Salvager
Use antimatter for enemies within ~15km, lead ~25km, iron will get you ~40km. Training towards tech 2 small hybrids will allow you to use spike ammo for a little more range and a lot more damage than iron. Damage output is low - but sufficient for level 1's and 2's. Train for salvagers so you can salvage as you run your missions for extra loot.
People are going to tell you to use a Caracal for missions till you're ready for a Drake then a Raven. Well that's boring, and requires you to specialize in missiles.
If you're like me and you like guns instead of missiles and you want to stay Caldari. The Cormorant - Moa - Ferox - Rokh path is fine for Guristas/Serpentis PVE.
For ratting I would suggest...
Low: Magnetic Field Stabilizer
Mid: 1MN Microwarp Drive x5 webifier Passive Resist Amp Small Shield Booster II
Highs: 6x light ion blasters II light electron blaster II Salvager
More than 2x the damage of rails, you zip around and you can salvage easily!

You don't love your Destroyer. You love the Moa. The destroyer deserves level2 missions but you don't love it enough. You hate the Cormorant, it is only doing level1 missions. Poor Cormorant.

Edited by: Hylinn on 05/03/2008 00:25:09 The only reason I'm content with doing level 2 missions for know is because I got a wicked bad mission once. It was for the Caldari Navy and was the first of a three parter. I went in to do some recon like they asked and got my *** handed to me. Lost two cormorants because of that. -- I am for noob friendly posts. And I am against stupidity.

I took the exact same path when I first started playing Eve. I suggest you cancel your plan of getting a moa if you really like turrets, and get a thorax. Well moa might be ok post patch, but I still recommend you get a thorax instead.

You're supposed to fly through 'recon' in a fast ship without engaging anything.
And you might want to get your destroyers level a bit higher for increased performance. |

The first 2 stages of recon are easily done in a shuttle. Just head for the gates and warp out when the mission completed message comes up. It's quick and easy isk.
The third part takes either a really fast ship or a good tank.

Recon 1/3 for a Level 2 can be lots of fun and profit...if you go in tanked to hell and back. If you've got friends, bring them. Recon 1 is not designed to be battled through though. The last room is....harsh.
Simply put, run through fast, warp-gate to the last room, run home to collect cash. No killing necessary.
Come to think of it, the Recon series doesn't require a single ship kill.
Check out EVE-Survival.org for a nice list of missions and walkthroughs. It's saved me a few Myrmidons already. (L4s in a Myrmidon takes just a little planning...) _______________________________
