Edited by: Mahlys on 04/03/2008 21:14:38 Ok, so I have all tier 1 learning skills to 5, and tier 2 to 4. I am thinking of becoming a PvP frigate pilot. So, what should I start learning? I am looking to be spec ops or stealth bomber type...
And as I learn, where should I do missions? I have just returned and am totally lost on what station I should be at.
If someone could at least point a lost person in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
Thanks folks.

See, this is why I tell people to train L4 basics and L3 advanceds only. You've spent more than a month "playing", and you haven't actually played at all. Do you ask people to tell you what to eat soup or salad ? It's your preference, there is no "right answer". Do a little bit of everything, and focus on what you LIKE. If you no longer like that, start searching for something else you might like.

Well, what about your basic (Rank 1/2) Ship Skills like Mechanic, Electronics, Engineering, Hull Upgrades, Shield Management, Shield Operation, Repair Systems (being Gall, you'll be armor tanking, but the basic shield skills gve you a nice buffer so i sugest at least level IV for those)
After that, pick a ship you wanna fly well, find out how/what the best fit is for it that you would enjoy playing, and train the skils needed to fit/maximise that fit. When done, pick another ship, rinse/repeat.
Also, being Gall, you should pump up your drone skills early cause (every?) gall ship has a drone bay that makes a difference

to the OP, OK - now train whatever you wanted to train for in the 1st place... now that you have been doing stuff in rookie ship you should know what you want to train up for ...
to others - doing the learnings to 5/5 [or 5/4] only really makes sense if you are a) going to be playing for 3yrs + b) have another account that you can play with while the learnings are doing c) ... profit - though I would suggest getting science to 3 and cybernetics in fast so you can plug in +3's
personally I tell people to do 4/4 on learnings and do them while they are not doing fast small skills so they can have fun ...

Edited by: You What on 05/03/2008 11:33:52 U need to think about source of income unless you're an alt. As a start I'd suggest go for missions. As you're just starting you can choose a NPC faction/corp to work for, which is good.
Then if u have no specified race u want to fly, choose one. Fact that your char is caldari or gallente doesnt stop you from flying minmatar or amarr ships. My main is caldari and flies gallente, minmatar and caldari ships actively in pvp.
Having a specced char in one subject isnt really that fun unless it's your 2nd+ char imho.
As for PVP frig pilot u have to train: - Skill to fly the ship obviously - Nano II, Overdrive II, 1 MN MWD II, Warp Diruptor II, Webber II, T2 Guns - Support skills (Engineering, Electronics, Cap Skills, Shield Skills, Fitting Skills) - Navigation skills
Those skills are for all ships but with them only u can be effective in a frig. Basically try to train them all at once instead of waiting one of em to hit lvl 5 and then another and another...
U dont need T2 Cruise Launchers to be effective SB pilot u will need however cloaking skills to use t2 cloak
Run missions for less popular corp so u wont be lagged to death in mission hubs. By that I mean do NOT run missions for Caldari Navy, Federal Navy etc.
If u like running missions the path u should choose would be frig -> cruiser -> battlecruiser -> battleship
get into each of em asap. I know some people like a challenge but dying in mission isnt fun too ;p. I even run lvl 3 missions in passive tanked raven with heavy launchers for a week when i switched from ferox. lol
Find a player controlled corp on forum that accept new players and choose one that suits you. It's a multiplayer game and really game itself has nothing to offer in comparsion to what players introduce and bring to the world of EVE. You as a frig pilot can be part of something really big and your game experience will change a lot.
Sry for long post Good luck
edit: Not that long actually ;p

Well, learning skills were so high because I planned on playing for sometime. But it didn't work out that way.
Ok, thank you for your replies folks. Gonna get goin on some training and see what kind of corp I can get into.

You will need to learn to fly a Battlecruiser to earn isk probably. If you want to go for stealth bomber, I suppose you could kill two birds with one stone and train for a Raven. That way you'll have cruise missile skills for the stealth bomber.

I think it it is right to spend a month training skills. The dividends in the long run are substantial. I sat one of my characters in a station & just trained skills until everything other than Charisma was at level 4. You then end up with a Character that can race through any chosen career path particulary if you get Cybernetics to 5 & push in a set of +5 implants. Don't knock this- it is a good strategy- initialy boring as you itch to get into the "real" game but my god you train so much faster. This new character has 26 Will power & 27.5 perception-so he blasts through spaceship based training which ultimately is what EVE is all about.

Ok, so reading and looking at things. Perception and willpower are inportant. Now, my willpower is around 22 or something. But my perception is 17. Granted, I think I am only on lvl 2 cybernetics and training up the rest. So what will max cybernetics get me? 22? Anyway, should I reroll or just deal with a bit longer train times? |

Cybernetics doesn't affect Perception, or any stat for that matter. ---- In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Addams |

Actually, it does, by allowing you to use better implants.
