Edited by: Lebastor on 05/03/2008 11:53:49 Can anyone confirm that the patching on Tuesday the 11th will bring the long waited Mac-client stability patch? I have done testing on the SiSi and at least some of most annoying bugs seems to have been fixed and generally things seem to run more smoothly (no lags in SiSi :) and less taxing on the prosessors. One odd thing I did notice. The settings panel is missing some screen sizes (widescreen modes). I hope they will be back in TQ release. But great expectations for this patch therefore!

Hi. We're in the final stages of testing the Mac aspects of Trinity 1.1 so I can't release patch notes yet as things can change on a daily basis, but there will be many fixes addressing stability issues. Some issues do require driver updates from third parties and we are trying to put as much pressure as we can on them, but overall this patch should see a great improvement in client stability for Mac users.

would one of the 3rd parties be nvidia? I just switch from a first gen MBP with a ATI 1900 (256MB ram) video card to the new MBP with the nvidia GeForce 8600M (512 MB ram) and I am having all sortsa issues now that I didn't have on my old system.

The patch notes are being prepared by QA at the moment. There is a ton of stuff being fixed and adjusted in this patch and preparation of comprehensive patch notes is taking a little longer than usual as a result. If it looks like the big patch notes are not going to be posted by close of business today, I will try to create a thread here with the Mac specific patch notes.
Third parties include Apple and the graphics card manufacturers. As a result we have no direct control over how and when the issues we report will be addressed, and it turns into a waiting game. We always try to find workarounds in order to offer an interim solution, but sometimes that is not possible without breaking other aspects of the game.

Just so long as there is really a problem with the drivers and not hacks specific for Transgaming/CCP Code...I can understand why Apple/ATI/nVidia would be hesitant to make changes for a specific application after the 10.4.9 (or was it 10.4.10? I'm going on memory here...) graphics update for FinalCut Pro which ended up causing other graphics issues as a side effect.
Anyway, if the new patch fixes the big errors (crash to desktop, F10 map garbled, fitting screen garbled, the "spastic clock" bug, and the entertaining "use random bits of my desktop instead of the nebula texture"), I'll be very happy (and from the little I've seen on SiSi, this is true...)

I have about zero "stablity issues" so I am more concerned with getting the premium video package.
