... the more time they spend in trade hubs, the more immune you become to real life advertising? You get so used to automatically switching out of Local or ignoring it that you start swopping out of streamed adverts and muting them. Then you start muting TV adverts, then you are disabling plug ins for your browser so that animations and flash only run when you specifically chose them.
Find that when you see some 0% interest or "2 for 1" sales pitch that you find yourself thinking "scam" or even "Heh, old scam is old." ?
I have even hit the point that if adverts somehow do get through to me and I remember a brand - I immediately boycott them. I won't even tell people which brands I am boycotting because that advertises them.
So, anyone else got a story about how their online life is changing how they see or operate in the real world? Ideas & stuff EVE - the game of sand castles, either building them or kicking them down. -á Status: Taking a break |

I habitually ignored adverts before I started EVE. That hasn't changed much. Working retail, however, has made me completely ignore all advertising. |

I've never fallen for a scam, advert or anything where you can just look at it and go.. Nice try. |

Only thing I did was not pay attention when buying what I thought was a T1 module and turned out to be some fancy one. Basic EM something resist. That was off the market at its normal price so not scammed. Ideas & stuff EVE - the game of sand castles, either building them or kicking them down. -á Status: Taking a break |

There was this one guy I met on the street who said he was giving up on life and said if I gave him $50 he'd double it.
Thank goodness for Eve or I might have fallen for that one!

The only reason to blink off of local is if you are in a wormhole.
There is no reason to read local in a hub, as every contract is already listed in the database.
