i originally posted this in the idea lab, just tought u may read it here more likely, so sorry for the double post ;)
Wonder noone complained abt this yet ;)
WE NEED AN EXTERNAL EVE-ASSISTANT, that can provide us with various in-game information, while we r not in the game.
I hereby offer my assistance in creating this tool along with a few friends of mine. You just have to provide us with the interface, to access: - contact list - local/corp/public/private chat
pros: - ability to manage your in-game life, while u dont necessarily have to be in-game for that.
I spend 75% of my day online, yet again only 15% of that in eve, simply coz i'm at work during the rest. With a tool like this, i would be able to keep in touch with my corp mates, business contacts, recruits, etc...
cons: - none that i could think. I do not want to create a bot for eve, nor do i want to get information that could be used for market exploits and such. All i want to do, is to bring the game closer at times i'm not able to play it actively.
For those questioning my offer ;)
I'm a professional developer (a busy one i have to admit), so im well able to do what i offered, still with the interface provided, many would also start to create a tool like this, which we all would benefit from.
I'm asking the devs to consider the above suggestion. The tool would be made under your terms of course.
thanks in advance for any assistance,

I was thinking the same thing. I spend most of my day infront of a pc and on the net too. I wouldn't mind being able to communicate with the corp to keep up on current events, important info and business contacts. Unfortunatly, I'm not a developer:( But I could build em one hellofa network =) Lookin for a deal on Caldari ships and other goods??? Excellent Idea. I would add an enhancement request to that: Access to EVE Mail while out of game.
Then you would know when your skills were trained! | Join eve-webring.com to promote your site. |

Or an option to send in game emails to an external realworld mailbox of the users choosing.

I agree that it would be nice to open up the in game chat to people not logged into the game.
I've been working on a number of ingame website ideas, for which i would really like my webserver to be able to get info from the EVE cluster, like corp financial trasactions etc.
The possibilities are huge... but CCP are understandably reluctant to allow 3rd parties any kind of interface to ingame data. It could be done safely, by providing sum kind of webservices API, like google or amazon do, but i dont think CCP can spare the development time needed to create this functionality.
I would be happy if they could just extend the browser with a table renderer, but as i understand it, even development of the ingame browser is on hold atm, I guess there are just too many other bugs to be fixed.
Don't hold your breath

Yup, some nice exposed XML files (read only of course) would be great for making sites more part of the eve-universe.

Anarchy online has a ingame chat server you can log onto while not "loged in" there should be some way we can log into our chat channels and eve-mail ----------------------------------------------- What doesn't kill you makes you injured.

I'd like to see an assistant like this - again, because I spend most of my time online, but not half as much is able to be spent within Eve. The other feature that I'd request for this would be a means to check the status of your training, and preferably also to update which skill you're training.
