I'm making an alt and wondering what to do with it. Besides being a hauler/salvager. Would logistics be a good idea?

I sometimes fly one with my friend fitted out for max damage and little tank. But 90% of the time two people with damage based ships work better. Unless youÆre doing lvl5Æs or complexÆs.
logistics is usefull and it works just not many people seem to want it. They perfew a 2nd fighting ship. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

If you want to use your alt with other players to aid in their missions, it can be worthwhile. The problem is that boredom sets in from time to time, I help a corpmate with level 4 missions in a guardian. We warp in, I take 60 - 70km distance from him, set "keep at range" to current and I'm free to walk the dog, feed the baby and clean the entire house with 3 large reppers and a energy transfer array on perma-run.
At the end of the mission, I help him mop up with salvaging and looting and that's about it. Not a real shiny job, but nevertheless very helpful and rewarding in praise and thank.

Under a specific set of circumstances a logistics alt is the best thing to do presuming you want to worry about having to "combat" two ships at once.
Those circumstances include, but are not limited to: Lvl 4 or 5 missions safer area of space-relatively free of mission probing wanna be pirates. computer capable of handling two clients at once you don't mind running on lower graphic settings
A lot of money can be made with an alt just boosting you, cause you just bring in the tank, get aggro, alt gets brought in and starts boosting, and then you go back to the combat guy and go to town. Alternatively (and cheaper ISK and SP wise) you could have your alt just speed tank or command ship tank everything while your combat alt goes to town again.

Well, my plan is to run two accounts at the same time. One in a Golem and the other in a logistic. I will be running lvl 4 missions. The objective is to finish them as quick as possible. Would making a logistic or drake be more beneficial for this?

I didn't read this, but command ships are good tanks? I've never been into the alt business so I'll state my objectives again.
Right now I am having no trouble running level 4s in my Raven. Missions take 5 minutes to 30 minutes to clear. I would like to speed up that time somehow and am wondering what is the best way to do this with an alt. I suppose I should change the topic title..

A domi can do the same then a logistics, have a solid tank and kill stuff. There is no reason for a logistics in missions. --
There are countless games in the world. There are at least as many ppl that dont like one or more rules of said games. That never stopped smart game designers from creating good games.

Yeah um...that doesn't really help? My Golem can tank and kill stuff too. I want to speed up missions.

Edited by: Rialtor on 11/03/2008 21:37:34 I don't see how a logistics ship would really improve much on a good setup. Maybe it let's you remove a LAR, but you you still want a 3-4 slot resistance tank. The rest would be damage mods, in the case of an abaddon you already use 3 Heatsinks, the 4th doesn't add much. An Abaddon has no issues running missions.
If you want to run missions faster bring another Battleship geared to run the mission. All you're doing with logistics is making your job more difficult imo.
Also by removing the LAR you're losing the versatility you would have had on missions with respawns. What if the logistics takes aggro?
Even something like a destroyer for killing frigs would be better than logistics imo.

Edited by: Vincent Lionhart on 11/03/2008 23:33:24 Ok, in that case. Seeing as how I HATE multitasking. What's the best AFK ship there is? Because right now the only thing I can think of is Drake.

Looking at a level 5 character in EFT:
Abaddon deals 844 DPS with T2 8xMPLII. 5x Medium Drones + 125 DPS Megathron deals 861 DPS with T2 7xNBC II + 1xCMLI. 5x Heavy Drones + 250 DPS Raven deals 559 DPS with 6x CMLII + 2x 1400mm Artillery. 5x Medium Drones + 125 DPS Maelstorm deals 700 DPS with 8x 800mm RAII. 4x Heavy Drones + 250 DPS Dominix deals 717 DPS 6xNBC II. 5x Sentry Drones + 538 DPS
Each ship will use Invunerability field II's in the mid slots. The second Ship is a dominix and will protect the DPS ship with shield transfers. It will have no DPS in the high slots and with use 5x Heavy Drones set to guard the primary. This way you won't every have to go back the 2nd client.
To me the best setup looks to be running two Dominix's.

Best AFK ship is probably the Ishtar. Domi is good too, but I like the faster, more maneuverable HAC. I passive shield tank it against Guristas/Serps: aggro the room, launch drones and warp in an alt with a Munin or Hurricane (Typhoon soon). No idea if it's faster than a Golem, but I can always safely leave the Ishtar to finish the mission if I'm interupted by RL.

You should be able to use a pair of rigged sentry domis and salvage the mission as you go. This seems the fastest to me.

I use a raven and a drone boat to loot salvage with. The raven is primary and with the drones from the BC or BS guarding, then use second to salvage/loot.

Edited by: Ban Shui on 13/03/2008 06:27:07 IMO there are three main setups for running level 4 missions with two ships (I'm sure someone will be able to point out others):
Max damage: e.g. two ravens, two abaddons This situation has the highest overal damage. Both ships might need to be tanked if there is a danger of respawns. For missile ships you have a problem of low damage against cruisers. This can be fixed by fitting painters and compensating for the lost tank by using shield transfers or nos. Turret ships can stand apart to minimise tracking.
BS killer / cruiser killer e.g. raven and nighthawk/drake This setup has lower dps, but is good for missile ships because the bs kills bs quickly, and the other ship kills the cruisers quickly.
Logistics setup e.g. Raven and a Basalisk This setup does the least dps, but has a lower workload than the other two, also you can fit the damage ship for maximum damage, e.g. a raven with 2 painters and 3-4 BCS.
It is really a question of what you want to do, the logistics setup is easiest to run for one person. The other two are really a matter of taste and finding a good combination of ships.
