I hope I've not missed a previous post regarding this topic but I just did not see anything on this time honored method of messing with your enemies mind.
Decoys in POS proximity. Decoy labs. Decoy Guns. Cheaper to purchase. Only minerals to manufacture. One mod that can generate a signature that shows them as being in an 'online' status that is powered by fuel blocks and looks like a lab it'self.
What would you use this for? Trap? To take up space? To fool an enemy of superior numbers or strength?
Please be thoughtful before you trash the notion. This is a time honored tactic and certainly within the realm of possible tactics and equipment in the current EvE Universe.
This could lead to mods that can generate a field that makes a frigate look like a battleship to displays as well if only for a minute or two before the mod burns out and has to recharge

I like the idea, just give it enough hitpoints to withstand a few bombs and it should be great. |

Say 10% of the structure in points? Enough armor to stand maybe one good volley from any BS? Just enough shield to make it look like it has a shield when it's locked on? Not even that much! Just a big hollow structure that looks good on the postcard picture. Anyone taking the time to really investigate should be able to see thru the ruse. Unless CCP is willing to run with the idea and produce a new line of electronics for this kind of warfare and deception. Now that would make the idea and concept useful I think. |

I sincerely hope a dev takes the time to look all these ideas over instead of just having a space here to shove player ideas instead of listening to them |

depends on what the decoy modules actually are.
Stick -- > ehh, maybe Labs/[S/M/L]SAA/etc (i.e. everything inside the bubble) --> no real point here... why would you want to make your POS look like more of a loot pinata than it is? Guns/Ewar --> OH GOD YES. Missiles --> lol, who uses them anyway? |

How about to mislead your enemy into wasting time and energy in attacking a hollow chocolate bunny instead of the cash cow a few systems away? Or to just take up space in a already crowded system? Not the first time a POS was used for useless clutter...some might fancy more useless clutter around the useless clutter for the sake of appearance!
Wouldn't need to be labs...could be guns, ewar, hardeners or even scrams...the point is that the decoy is a time honored method of wasting your opponents resources by wasting yours first. Should be an opportunity here somewhere to do just that. |

Which was kind of my point . I'm not sure on the "decoy stick" idea (maybe LS only?) ...
As for decoy labs (or, anything that lives in the bubble except hardeners ... forgot about them at first), it's pointless in a "not decoy" POS -- you're making it look shinier than it is, and that's just bad. So, maybe have them only allowed to be anchored within the bubble of a decoy stick?
Guns/ewar/everything else that goes outside should definitely get a decoy variant. |

IIRC, you can't anchor more than one on a stick. so... one POS has the jammer, and the others have decoys...
granted the last time I was dealing with Sov was when it was "whoever has the most large towers owns the system" |

The idea of a for real POS with decoy aspects to help protect it's genuine assets.
I imagine guns and other modules could also be mixed together with their decoys, making an enemy waste time and ammo trying to find and eliminate the things actually shooting at him. |

I like the idea of having decoy modules, but having decoy towers would clog up the moons pretty fast and then nobody would be able to put up new POS's without blowing up the decoys.
I can see a problem with this though. As far as active weapons and EWAR modules go, the effects would give away which ones were real, wouldn't they? I dunno, it's been a while since I've done a POS bash (and I've done only one successful one anyway) so I don't really know how the systems work. Support showing T2 and faction frequency crystal damage in the info window! |

small time alliance and need to hide a handful of ships?...half a dozen POS's and a plethora of hangars that aren't real while your fleet sits in a different system cloaked (told you it was just a shameless bump) |

Oh god YES! Especially ship decoys would be usefull! You deploy a decoy cruiser at a safespot, rename it, laugh while everyone think your bomber/recon/black ops is a vexor. No need to remove local when you can feed them false intel.
Also won't be overpowered as you'd have to decloak to deploy/scoop. |
