Marauders - Really, its tractor beam bonus is the best bonus.
Seriously, its best use is a salvage ship. I mean for the cost, its abilities in battle really aren't much to write home about give their turret/launcher hard caps. But as a primary salvage ship it will save you loads of times from flying around all the cruisers/battships that could be as much 100 KM apart from each other (50 KM orbiting radius).
Right now, if I owned a Marauder, it would be fitted with Salvage Tackles not CCCs or ANPs.

Is this a troll post? 100% bonus to laser damage means 4 guns = 8 guns... I must be missing something...

Edited by: Mykpilot on 13/03/2008 18:32:27 The 100% bonus would be great if you could fit more than 4 turrets or 4 launchers on the ship.
I'm just saying that its ability to salvage and loot a mission is a far great upgrade compared to its ability to clear a mission in comparison to what your using now to clear missions and loot missions.

Edited by: Pantaloon McPants on 13/03/2008 19:05:49 Its a one stop pve shop. its got the lot! (tm)
i cant speak about the other marauders, but the golem is a god send for me, it tanks like a beast, with officer gear its beyond words (i have marauder 5) huge tasty cargo bay + long tractor beam range = salvage entire room while clearing it at the same time, with ONE account. AND to top it off with 4 launchers you save ammo but do more damage then a regular god dam pos raven. You would be a spaz not to use it as it was intended and that is a one stop PVE SHOP, because its got the lot! and im not talking about macdonalds latest burger.

I only bought mine because of the salvage bonus. It just makes salvaging that little bit more pleasant. I'm continuing to run missions in my NH and I don't see that changing. -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran)

Funnily enough, your right to an extent, and thats why it's better than faction ships for missions tbh.
Golem for example, 4 torps and 3 tractors, kill everything, tractor it all into one big salvagable ball of fun while your doing the mission. Bookmark, go back and finish mission, come back in a salvaging thrasher. Loot and salvage to your hearts content.
Fast, efficent, makes you lot of money. But don't fit salvage tackles to the ship, fit weapon enhancing rigs to augment that 100% damage bonus. My Golem has a missle flight time and velocity rig, makes Javelin torps fly out to 60km. Very effective. ----- Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.

I don't know about the other races ships but the Paladin is by far the greatest Amarrian mission runner there is.
The reason is simple... CAP STABLE TACHS WITH TANK!!!
With tachs optimal is a bit more than 30km with MFs. The long falloff means I'm hitting up to about 50km with my hardest hitting ammo. No more ABing to wards rats to get withing 20km. Add a tracking comp and a dom Webber and the frigs and cruisers that get too close are dead too. The damage seems higher too. 3-4 vollies takes out an average BS.
Guristas mission are a whole lot easier too. Those jerks like to missile spam at long range and long range crystals dont do enough thermal damage to kill them. With tachs they are no problem at all.
And hey a Navy repper on a Paladin repps like an officer repper. I guess an officer repper would repp like a GM cheat code.

Yeah, the tractor beam bonus looks nice.
Though it would be preferable if they had SOME ship with a tractor bonus that wouldn't take me FOUR solid months of skilling to get.
CCP is great at adding solutions to help the high end runners, but this is so far out of reach to the lower end people (or the part time runners like myself) that it is worthless.
A cruiser or bs sized salvager would be worth far more even.

Since i got the golem my CNR is parked althought it would kill things faster. With faction ammo golem has around same kill power then CNR with normal charges and saves a lot of ammo if i was using them on CNR.
Before i never salvaged and only looted what was within the 20k range. Now i loot almost everything while i kill and when running against angels which i go up against a lot it¦s wonderfull. 1 tractor and 2 salvagers and no BS wreck left behind. Missions like worlds collide or vengeance which have many BS are great since i end up with a bunch of trit bars, armor plates and burned circuits.
Since patch now i can even loot while going at full speed which didn¦t worked before.

I like the palladin with tech 2 megapulse. Cannot comment on tachs / cap stability (not tried it), but I do know that with MP's I need waaaaaay fewer cap mods leaving more room for tank or gank or both.
Marauders do salvage well, but is no way their only use.

Yes, I have endless wet dreams about a dedicated salvaging ship, kinda like the Osprey, except with a bonus to tractor beam range. -- Salpad |

The point of Marauders is to have a salvage capable ship allong with your fleet in 0.0 ops. That way you can collect the player wreaks and provide the supply of T2 salvage needed for T2 rigs.
The 100% damage bonus allows the Marauder to do equal damage to targets as a standard BS but still maintian a salvage capibality. The question is do you want to spend the time and ISK to fly a janitor in Fleet ops...

I would say, most certainly not. Especially if your name starts with B.

Edited by: Mykpilot on 16/03/2008 01:42:48 I assumed the Marauder class battleships weren't ever supposed to see the light of day for PvP due to the fact that they have such a low sensor strength in comparison the T1 battleships. Also, the Abaddon is a fleet role provided a cheaper a better solution (more tank, same gank) and now the Apocalypse complete outshines the Paladin in a fleet fole. The Golem actual puts out less DPS than a Raven, I haven't checked but I'm going to take a guess that similar comparisons can be found with other racial T2 battleships.

Once i finish AWU I'm jumping in a Kronos.
For missions I presume its 4x425mm IIs (plus small drones) For pvp I would presume MWD / 4 x Neutron IIs

I guess then that along with the 100% damage increase one still gets the added benefits from trained skills and faction mods?
