Dear players, today's Downtime will be extended further due to deployment taking a bit longer than originally announced. We expect to have Tranquility up and open for business at about 15.00 GMT.
Translation: We really don't care about your *Insert Favourite ***** Word* on our forums. In an hour, we might hit the power button to the server and let you play. Until then, shut the **** up
Sincerely,
CCP

Edited by: seany1212 on 14/03/2008 14:06:35 stop whining, its a hotfix, its untested, if everyone jumps on the server now and something is wrong then there will be further complaints, they'd rather have some people whining about it being an extra hour DT than have everyone whining because there clients are crashing or something
EDIT: Agreed craig

Really.. when do these ******s EVER bring a server back when they say they will? It's gonna be another hour, and then 15 min promises at a time for 1.5 hours. You must be new here. lol

This.
The handy little square, that showed up around the center of your ship when pressing Alt is gone as well. Makes narrowing down targets with the scanner more difficult, especially if you're cloaked.

Edited by: Cole Nightfight on 14/03/2008 14:12:05 i appreciate how this was posted AFTER god knows how many people where asleep / heading to bed (including myself) expecting to log on in the morning able to change their skills that would be completed in the morning (such as my own skill). perhaps more than 8hrs notice is a better idea when telling people the server is going down for a prolonged period of time. now what am i going to do about the lost training time?
ie. im personally losing between 11-13hours of training due to this DT. 15:00 game time = im @ work and unable to change skills until i get home so where some people might lose a couple hours im losing half a day of training. not cool..

I would be worried more if they were reading this forum instead of fixing the problems they have atm.
I am happy they dont read this forum.
Please fix 9.999 bugs but keep the servers online. -> What are we thinking ?

Some people have no clue tbh and they make the biggest whines. The best posters of issues are those that are succinct, identifying what the issue is and how it manifests / how to reproduce.
Adding a whine is unnecessary, there are humans the other side reading. Treat them like so and less like your slaves.
If QA controlled when software was ready for release, there would be NO SOFTWARE released.
Software is ALWAYS released with bugs, bug free software doesn't exist. QA Can't be on top of every issue, they are shown changes, they test changes.
When new things happen as part of those changes, they are more than likely flagged during QA, but released with the expectation its not a show stopper and will be released 'real soon'.
The windows moving all over the place is old and needs fixing. Clearly, its not a priority but I can't believe CCP people don't frown everytime it happens to them.
Loss of bookmarks and settings is easily fixed. Just move your cache folder before upgrades.
As for other issues, I believe there are work arounds for those also.
I too would like CCP to spend the next 6months on stability issues only and no changes to anything, but I'm just a customer and not their product manager who has a damned better vision of the game than we do.
So, yes, do report issues and do feel free to type pages of whiny qq'ing. But do us all a favor and delete that part before you post.

Keep up the good work and fix it quickly pls ;)

CCP recommends you choose a LONG skill to train prior to the downtime. It is not their fault you choose one that should end JUST as the servers should be starting up.

He's an idiot because he's basically making the devs look like they do this intentionally. Most people have such a narrow mind that they don't realise how much it takes to maintain such a large game and supercomputer.

After reading 6 pages of pure whining (few posts excluded) i have a feeling my head is going to explode People are trying to fix the game so you might get a more enjoyable experiance, so try being supportive for a change. Sure, we all want our daily fix of EVE, but have some patience for the love of whatever you believe in...
That being said, hope the patching'll be done soon
you acctualy read all 6 pages? :) if i wanted to hear that much moaning id tell the gf im going out with the lads tonight
Ok, i lied, i read 7x% in hope of finding out something useful. Noone could take all 100% of that crap :D
Haha, I actually read 100% of this forum. All 6 pages. At first I started agreeing with all of the ppl who are asking for compensation for the downtime. Then the issue of the eula is a open and shut case. No compensation. OK, I signed it, so be it. I do actually have a r/l.
Then I paid attention to those who have significant errors after the patch. My advice to you, from a software engineer developing for a client-intensive, live system is, file a bug report. Be detailed, be specific, and test it thoroughly to make sure it could not possibly be on your side.
This is not uncommon. I'm not asking you to "do CCP's job". I'm asking you to be a good customer and inform the company, in a professional manner, what isn't working in their product.
Trust me, a software engineer who sees a bug that says, "Alt-tab doesn't work anymore." is going to look at it and immediately disregard it. He'll say, "It works on the 12 machines here, I need more information."
Provide your system specs. Hardware/OS version/video driver version/etc. All these things will help them narrow down exactly what is causing the errors. If you can, also provide the settings you are currently using.
If this is a visual problem, i.e. graphics, include screenshots. If it is an error message, Include, verbatim, the error message, or a screenshot of it.
All I'm saying is more detail is better.
I'm not saying that none of you have any right to complain. You do. But complain in a productive, professional manner, and someone might actually appreciate it. It's called "Constructive Criticism."
Hopefully someone found this helpful.

I totally agree with the training que... surely that would stop everyone complaining when we lose playing time, safe in the knowledge at least our char is still getting trained (however god damn sloow that process is)? Is there some reason CCP have for not bringing this in?
or have we all gone completely mad?
