I need a new gaming mice, the old one will be more confortable in the trash can.
I'd like to spend 60Ç more or less (46 pounds) in a new mouse.
I went to a gaming competition in my university and noticed that some people used a Razer Copperhead mouse.
Is that mouse good enought? Any suggestions about another "tools"?

I too have heard good things about that mouse. I use the fatal1ty mouse by creative which I like although it takes some getting used to, best points are interchangable weights, on the fly sensitivity control (3 quick change modes) and the shape which although stubby and quite large does promote better hand posture for reaction times (good for FPS). This mouse should also come under your price category and may be worth looking at. |

Edited by: Meiyang Lee on 14/03/2008 16:36:56 I use a Logitech G5 Laser Mouse myself, although an older model than show on the link. It is slightly over budget though at 55 pounds.
Similar to the fatal1ty one with adjustable weights and on the fly resolution changing (up to 2000 dpi). Has the option to create button layout profiles for individual applications (quite useful), these profiles also include dpi-stepping (up to 5 settings), so that each app can have its own resolution settings.

I've got one of these myself. Really nice mouse. Oh, and they're going for much cheaper at Ebuyer than the price you quoted.

I just used the Logitech homepage because i'm not from the UK, so wouldn't know any good UK based online stores.

I use a Logitech MX 518 mouse. It has some cool features like the ability to change the sensitivity with a click of a button on the mouse. you can also swap between programs by pressing another button on it. It's also very comfortable to hold and fits nicely into your hand. The price is under your budget too.

I wont ever buy Logitech as they suxorz more than a $50 thai ho

Edited by: Ryysa on 14/03/2008 18:25:51 Because all you will get here are subjective comparisons, I would like you to present with an objective one.
Feel free to read the entire article, however I linked only the ending graph.
Here is the link with the Razer Deathadder mouse added in.
As you can see, all the logitech Gx mice are the suck. Laser mice are the suck for gaming in general. Intellimouse is one of the worst mice ever made. MX518 is ok, but 2x worse than MX500 and MX300 at 1000hz.
Currently, the best mouse you can buy is the Razer Deathadder. It looks good, feels good, and has excellent characteristics.
I still have my MX500 @ 1000hz on my icemat, and I will not let go of it until something breaks - but after 6 years of heavy abuse, it's still there (considering I used to do progaming for 3 years 6 years ago.)
So there - objective graph with proof, on what you should buy, along with the subjective opinion of someone who used to be at the top of europe in FPS for 3 years.

I would like to point out that my mouse is not on that graph.

Personally, I think a lot of these gaming peripherals are waaaay over the top. Kinda like headphones that advertise their awesome frequency range and precision that extends beyond what a human can hear. I use some low-end logitech mouse (basic, wired, 2 button + click-able wheel) and it has served me well for years of gaming. Cost me something like $20 and I like it nearly as much as my $60 mouse (wireless with a couple extra buttons).

Yes, they are, unless you are very serious about gaming, and I mean very serious - money involved etc. The casual user would not notice a difference, and for EvE any mouse will do.

Uhm - personal taste taunt me all you like.
Your mouse is a laser mouse. It has great DPI, but it sucks for anything where you have to make fast movements. I would not play FPS on a pro level with your mouse.
The OP asked for a gaming mouse, I provided the best gaming mouse currently on market with ample proof and personal experience to back it up. All logitech mice after MX510 have been fail. And using laser technology in gaming is pretty much fail (perhaps useful for RTS) - It's just a marketing trick, and so many people fall for it, proven by this very thread.
But it's ok, no one will admit they spent a ton of money on a less than impressive mouse. All that DPI on the logitech mouse will never be put to use, not to mention the fact that 1800 DPI is more than you will ever use.
There was a long discussion about DPI on these boards, too and how much is feasible. Anything over 1000 is over the top already actually.

Amazingly all i play is RTS basically, but i assure you it does not suck at anything where fast movements are needed.

Look at the charts. It uses very similar technology compared to the other G mice. Meaning, you can never move it faster than 1.5m/s.
While that may seem like a lot, I bet you have never seen anyone play FPS with a really low sensitivity. Your mouse is /not/ sufficient for that. If you look at it's specifications, that's exactly what it says 45-65 inches/sec (and those are usually overrated).
Again, that is not enough for a lowsens FPS player. So please - you have no in-depth experience on this matter. You just try to defend that you bought a less than impressive mouse for 100$. It's ok, next time you will be smarter.
OP asked for best gaming mouse for 60 eur, that's exactly what the deathadder is. The best mouse on the market for 60 eur. Your mouse completely pales in comparison to the DeathAdder and is above the OP's budget. I don't see what else there is to discuss.

I like my MX500's ergonomics too.
However, Habu/Deathadder are pretty comfy.

I've had an MX510 for a few years now, got like 3 people to buy the same mouse, best mouse I have ever used.
Anything that follows on from the MX510 (MX518, G5..) is the best mouse you will ever get too :)
I recommend you have a soft laser mousemat too though, I have a steelseries icemat version 2 which is yarr!
