I want to pick up a Rorqual but I keep hearing they can not pass through high security.....I heard the same for jump-freighters but I see them for sale in 0.4 + all the time....anyone know "for sure" if these vessels are limited to low sec?
thanks

Rorqual cannot get in 0.4+. Jump freighters can get in 0.4+, though they can only use their jumping abilities in low sec or 0.0, which is the only thing their're good for.

These vessels use jump drives, which have to lock onto a Cynosural field to jump. Cynos can only be opened in 0.0-0.4 systems. And they cannot use Stargates. So technically, one can exist in a hisec system, but once it leaves, it cannot return.

Oh dear...the children are on easter break....
On an intellectual note, Vienna worded it wrong(i hope). Rorquals cannot enter ABOVE 0.4, due to them being a capital ship. They cannot use Jump Gates, and as cynos cant be made in high sec, they cannot enter.

Everytime I see or think about seeing a capital camping a gate, I can hear Gandalf yelling "NONE SHALL PASS!" in my head. (Gandalf being the gate, not the capital) ------------------- ნỊs uʍop əpỊsdn Support the introduction of Blaze M crystals for Amarr! |

Last i knew Jump-freighters could still go into high sec areas, they just couldnt 'jump' into them with their jump-drives. (though they were just like normal freighters with the added bonus of the jump-drive.) Though Dreadnaughts cannot jump into high sec (as they cant go threw gates) i think you might still find a few dreads sitting in high sec areas because the were built there (back befor the capital ship array's were implimented and a few dreadnaughts were built in high sec stations.) --------------------------------------------- "Only two great species on this planet take part in massive, organized warfare. you can build them in a high-sec system and then jump them out though. or just leave them in the system you built it in. I have vague recollections of some crazy carebear a while ago building an amarr DN in a 1.0 system and using it to mine veldspar. +++ "Etiquette is for the Dojo. you CANT build them... it was nerfed a very long time ago.
Jump freighters can enter high sec and jump out to low sec or 0.0 through cyno. but they can do it the other way around. they have to use gates.
Rorqual cant enter high sec like other capital ships.
those capital ships (carriers and dreads) that where built in high sec can still be in that system. the ships themselves are not banned from high sec.. but as they cant use cynos they cant move around.
yesterday there was a Revelation camping jita gate in Perimeter :P
seems there is still quite a few out there ---------------------------------- This is Me, fighting stupidity one post at a time. PS: There are no computer BUGs, there is stuff called "Random Features"

Rorquals can not use jump gates, only jump drives. Jump Freighters can use jump gates or they can use jump drives. The only way a Rorqual can get from one solar system to another is by jump drive. To use a jump drive, you need to have a cynosaural field generated at the target solar system. Cynosaural fields cannot be generated in 0.5 sec or above.
Summary: Rorquals cannot travel into systems 0.5 or above. Jump Freighters can travel anywhere via stargates the same way regular freighters can or any other ship that does not depend upon jump drives. Jump Freighters can also use their jump drives to travel from system to system, but only if the target system is 0.4 or less.
Hope this helps.
