Eve works great on my laptop...i can run 2 accounts on it quite nicely. Graphics card is:
--------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5100 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce FX Go5100 DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_032D&SUBSYS_FF001179&REV_A1 Display Memory: 32.0 MB Current Mode: 1280 x 800 (32 bit) (60Hz)
A few of my corpmates have tried running eve on ATI laptops but there are some odd gfx errors...characters go bald ect.
Thank gods my laptop is using nvidia. (they paid me to say that i swear it)

Playing EVE on an Acer 1356CLi. Allow me to play in school during boring lectures
Graphics card is ATI Mobile Radeon 9200 (have a friend with 9000), and it works just fine. When I alt+tab out of game, though, and later click on someones picture I've not loaded before, that picture is generated without any lights (to fix this you have to delete all of this characters pictures in the EVE folder and try again)
The only thing I find lacking is that I have to play in 1024x768, although my graphics card can cope with as high as 1600x(whatever it was). The comp's screen is the limiting factor. --

Edited by: Rikon on 13/04/2004 16:26:17 Runs well on my toshiba P10 laptop 3ghz with 1GB ram.
Laptop has a 5600go video card (64mb), but eve runs fairly well (15 to 30 fps) and is clear at 1900x1200x32 resolution.
Just wish my desktop monitor would run at that resolution as well.

Sucks for me a lowly Compaq Presario 2100 owner. Eve blue screens as soon as I attempt to enter the game from the character selection screen. It's a driver problem and sorry ass Compaq doesn't feel a need to update video drivers on this series of laptop it appears. 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

Had a quick look, think that uses an ATI radeon mobility, if so there is a workaround. Had to use it on my old laptop a while back.
If you look at the Radeon mobility forum here
http://www.rage3d.com/
You will find a program to modify the Catalyst drivers to work on the mobility chipsets or alternativly you may find a link to a set of the omega drivers, that are tweaked and usually modded to work on mobility chipsets.

I run it on my Pentium 1.6M with an ATi 9000 gfx card.
Works well when not in "Powersave" mode - but obviously chews up the battery. In powersave mode it's OK for mining/hauling, no use for combat.

I'm running Eve on a Dell Inspiron 8600, with a nvidia GeForce Fx Go5650.
It's acceptable, however the following problems are common:
* Switching from full-screen to windowed mode except at the character selection screen results in an unplayable game. (The game is still running, but no graphics updates occur).
* The entire machine sometimes locks upon 'tuning into subspace frequency' after leaving a station. This probably occurs once every 1-2 hours, and only ever on the subspace-frequency message. Unfortunately it's an entire machine lockup, not just the application dying.
* Audio hardware acceleration is not available. This sometimes results in stutter.

Maybe then someone would be able to help me out... I am trying to launch EVE on Acer TM533i, with Intel 82852/85855 GME Graphics Controller. I have downloaded and installed the latest driver available from Intel, and still, I cannot launch the game. I can get through the character creation, though the picture of the character is very dark, but when attempting to activate the character, a screen saying "Tuning on subspace frequency" appears, and when the progress bar reaches the end, the program quits to Windows with a C++ error, "Runtime error", "Runtime has been requested to terminate the program in an abnormal way".

GeForce was nice to me In my Toshiba satellite 1415, but I get about 5 frames per second on my HP ze4240 (ze4200)with Radeon 320m video - and that is bad... its playable - but only if you are not planning to do battle.

Yet another victim of Intel's crappy graphics chip sets.
Sorry mate, but the Intel 3D chipset sucks big time and is missing some features that Eve needs. I believe someone is working on a driver that gets around the issue but I don't know how far they've got.
I also think Eve is a bit excessively pedandtic and sensitive in its demands sometimes but this is a good enough excuse to lambast Intel once again
My advice to everyone and anyone is to boycott the Intel graphics chipsets. Most of them don't even seem to support 2D bitblting! My Dad's machine has a four month-old motherboard with an Intel chip set and he has to turn off solid drag in Windows because it looks so crap. Luckily for him he doesn't play games so it doesn't matter but how ****e can a graphics chipset be not to support bitblt?
When buying a laptop there are two things to avoid:
* Intel chipsets * Shared video RAM
Unfortunately it would appear that all Centrino based laptops use the Intel chips - probably because it's sold to the OEM as a package.
Shared video RAM is a cost cutting exercise and means that the RAM will not be as closely coupled to the graphics chip resulting in slower access times. It might even be single port RAM which makes things even worse. In effect the graphics chip has to reach across to main memory all the time which is less efficient. If it's single port RAM then only one access at a time is possible (so the GPU has to wait if the video renderer is generating the image). The GPU might even have to wait for the CPU under some circumstances.
There are good gaming laptops around but you have to choose carefully. Look for ones that have dedicated RAM and ATI or NVidia chips sets. Unfortunately the latter are becoming rare but they do exist. -- (Battle hardened miner)

Running EVE smoothly on my Amilo D1840 Widescreen, with ATI Mobility 9600/128mb, 3GHz cpu and 1Gig ram. And no stretching of the graphics, at 1280x800.
And Catalyst v4.4 drivers

Damn, but that's good to know. It looks like I never will upgrade my desktop and probably never use it much so laptops are where I'll be going. I'd hate to think it meant fighting the Intel horror.
Now all I need to know is what can I do with a spare room that used to house a computer? -- (Battle hardened miner)

dell inspiron 600m, ati radeon mobility.
works like a charm though i have the graphic glitches like some characters being bald. other than that. eve is very playable. npc hunting, mining exploring is great.. though due to lag i wouldnt use it at times in PvP or when trying to break a baricade so switch to my desktop for that.

I use this one and it runs EVE great. No problems what so ever. Mobile Radeon 9600 128MB, with a Pentium M 1.6 GHz and 512MB ram. Resolution is 1400*1050 and it looks and feels good. =)

Maxze, in the middle of your screenshot there is a slider named "Pixel Alignment". Have you tried using it to fix your problem? _________________________________________________________
