So which one? I can fly both to the same degree skill wise. It will mostly be used is small 0.0 roaming gangs so i need an mwd but not a sensor booster. Which has the best tank and can you list some suitable setups inc rigs?
Not being lazy here, just want some opinions.

Id say broadsword the phobos is the worst hic imho. IT tanks the least and these ships are not meant for Dps they are meant to hold a target down. But if you want a fast inta locking ship phobos. But again The dps tanking ability goes like this From best to worst. 1.Broadsword 2.Onyx 3.Devoter 4.Phobos. And yes it is pink

no the phobos does not tank better than the devoter at all. 600dps tank is great but the role for these ships is to mainly be able to tackle a cap ship. So i would assume you would need to last longer than a minute, so the devoter setup i get has over 800dps tank and puting out 200+ dps. The phobos is hands down way worse than the devoter. while it may be slower how many caps you seen that go over 230ms?

I've found the Phobos to be a reliable ship to bring to fleet battles while I use my Onyx for small gang ops. I can't account for other ships tanking ability as I do not fly them but for the most part the tank on both these vessels have taken a pounding and I've found the Phobos to be more reliable thanks to the available low slots and the necessity to meet fitting requirements.

I just bought a broadsword based on what was said here, pity Munnin hasn't got this slot layout.
Set up is so far.
220mm II x 5, 1 disp field
10mn MWD II, 4 Large Ext II ,Invul II
4 Shield Relay Ii
Kinetic rig and purger.
Anything better?

Edited by: Aram Gishno on 19/03/2008 14:47:20 It really depends on what you are looking to do. Personally, I have two different setups depending on what kind of op I'm going to do. IMHO I would drop the MWD as the penalty is not worth the benefit. I've found that the majority of the ships you are going to encounter will far outclass you in speed.
As I'm at work and am unsure of the base resists of the Broadsword so I cannot question yet the validity of extending your shield. Though I would think upping the resists past the solitary Invulnerability II would be advisable.

Your cap is toast the instant you fire up the MWD and WDFG. Do you really need the MWD?
**EDIT**By its nature the HIC should either have targets come to it (sitting on gate) or you are being provided a good warp-in to the target. Let the tacklers serve your dinner. Think about what you will use the ship for and fit appropriately bearing in mind you are flying a ship that is very susceptible to neuts.

Your right about cap, which i knew would be a problem. I think i will switch out to another invul as i am likely to be static most of the time on gates. Currently i have 16k shield, 250 sec regen and 70+ resists.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Edit: i realised some peeple might not get me. shield tanked HICs for holding down caps. Armour tanked HICs for gatecamping.

I <3 my Phobos and wouldn't trade it in for a Devoter if you paid me, and yes, I can fly both. My supertank setup:
[Phobos, tank preferred] True Sansha Medium Armor Repairer True Sansha Medium Armor Repairer Armor Explosive Hardener II Amarr Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Amarr Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Damage Control II 10MN MicroWarpdrive II Medium Capacitor Booster II,Cap Booster 800 Stasis Webifier II Sensor Booster II,Targeting Speed Heavy Ion Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster II,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Warp Disruption Field Generator I,Focused Warp Disruption Auxiliary Nano Pump I Nanobot Accelerator I
Not cheap, but not grossly expensive. I also drop one of the reps in favour of a magstab II if I need a little extra DPS.
Resists with my skills (all armour comp skills at V) are 86.2/88.7/94.4/83.6 and each rep heals 434.7 armour per 7.65 second cycle with my skills and implants (Numon -7% duration and Noble +5% amount).
It's important to remember that I don't tackle any cap ships in this, as I'm an Empire *****, but dropping a rep for a plate or something similar would probably suit this purpose, especially with trimarks and slave implants.
DPS is low-ish (266 without magstab, 327 with) but hey, it was never gong to win any awards.. Almost killed a passive tanked bait Ferox the other night before his support arrived to kill me, so it's not that bad, and I managed to tank him and his 5 mates for long enough to de-aggro and dock.
I wouldn't swap this bad boy for anything. Plus it looks more like a***** than it ever did.

Edited by: Johncrab on 20/03/2008 18:11:59 Toying with the Broadsword myself... think I would fit it like this for mostly solo or small gang camps:
Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Signal Amplifier II LADAR Backup Array II
Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II Invulnerability Field II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II
Warp Disruption Field Generator I, Focused Warp Disruption 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Barrage M
Core Defence Field Extender I Core Defence Field Extender I
Could change the lowslots for shield power relays but, this way, you'll boost your dps, have ew counter mesures in place and increase your locking time. The tank is just insane, all resists about 80% and close to 21k shield, without gang bonuses (with heavy dictor at lvl 4) |

You're all negating the 50% bonus to l33tness that flying a pink thorax gives you.
Now all we need is a pink iteron.

For lowsec camping go Devoter or Phobos. The Phobos has the advantage of being able to fit a web or dual sensor boosters. While the Devoter can pack more range DPS and a bigger tank.

IMO, atleast for gatecamping:
Devoter > Phobos > Broadsword > Onyx
Atm I'm using the Phobos myself with the following for solo/small gang gatecamps:
5x 425mm AC II 1x WDFG w/ Script
1x Domination Web 2x SB II w/ Targeting Speed 1x Large Cap Battery II
1x Corpum A-Type Med Rep 2x Amarr Navy EANM 1x Exp Hard II 1x DCU II 1x DB CPR
2x Aux Nano Pump
Locks pretty fast, can pin down a target nicely and can take some beating. Only reason I would prefer the Devoter over this is that the Devoter can 100% permarun this and has about 150 more Scan Resolution so a faster lock. --- Teeheee! mematar's Video Archive |

I use two purgers and no Invuln II. DCU II and 3 SPR. Your mids are fine. Sometimes you want to have two WDFG, one with script and one without. In that case you also probably want a sensor booster in the mid.
A cloak is also a very handy for this ship, for lying in wait on a gate. -- The Theorem Theorem: If If, Then Then. -- |

Changed it up a bit now i got.
4-5 x 220mm II 1 x WthDFG (maybe fit a cloak) 1 x Invul II 4 x Large Ext II 1 x Shield Recharger 4 x Shield Relay II
Kinetic and Purger rig
2 invuls wont run for any length of time so i dropped 1 and stuck a shield recharger in instead. Cap seems to be ok even after a few long warps. Could do with maybe fitting a cap relay or Cap recharger for any fight thats gonna last a while/warping about a lot. I will probably get a phobos when this dies. Pink***** shaped ships at least get noticed.
