Wingman program offering a additional 14 days of game play, it sounds to good to be true - LOL. How about at least a 1-3 month time-code. 14 days might cover the down time associated with the updates and fixes of those updates. Get a new promotion.

I would like to express my agreement with the posters above me (except the OP) but I am too tired and lazy to formulate a unique response.
Therefore this will have to suffice.

Considering the amount of blithering and enraged demands for reimbursement we get whenever downtime is extended by 20 minutes, two free weeks seems like a lot. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Edited by: Doc Fury on 19/03/2008 15:27:48 It seems like very bad timing (at least to me) that CCP would want to get a bunch of new uninitiated players at a time when their game is suffering from lag, node crashes and extended downtimes much more frequently then usual.
Personally, given the current FPS problem, the last thing I would want to do is invite someone I consider a friend to have their sweet gaming rig reduced to a slide show. 14 free days is a very tempting bribe to some I guess.

Oh Tar, I am honored to have such an expedient and quick witted reply from none other than EVE's biggest name in wasted time.
but lets be serious for a minute here; Some of you are too young in EVE to realize that we already had a wingman program, but instead of free time to a rather substandard and buggy game, they offered a plethora of different prizes. Three usually, offered to subscribers in a raffle that had sent a buddy access pass and had that friend sign up.
The last raffle held was in August, sometime before Trinity was deployed, prior to that it had been every month or every few months they'd give out awesome prizes like "Your Dream Battleship Fitting", second prize a "Dream Cruiser Fitting" and third prize a "Dream Frigate Fitting"
These were actually cool and imaginative prizes, and worth more to players than 14 days of gametime which is what? 7$ at the most? For getting them a subscription based client? Sounds a bit ****ty to me. You already always got 14 days to start, what is another 14 days? Your learning skills? Sounds pretty pointless to me.
So what you don't realize, is there already was a program. It was better than the current program, but CCP discontinued it in an effort to stuff more players in an already crowded world.
Yep, you guys are either too young to realize or are indeed just fanbois.

Mahir Telum - > dumb Riho -> Huh? drama An Anarchyyt -> free time? sorry tiger I pay a premium to play. Joshua Foiritain -> maybe, but the servers don't work properly with the small load as is. Col Terror-> likely. stahmul-> apparently some players can think for themselves Tsanse Kinske -> 2 weeks won't cover a year of regular downtime, not including updates/issues etc. Just an observation not to be taking in any other way AsfALT -> dumb Doc Fury -> I agree. In addition, if Eve want to keep adding bells and whistles go for it, but most true pvper/gamers would trade the fluff for a better pvp experience. Niccolado Starwalker -> not sure what your saying, but people today are getting dumb and dumber.
thanks for the replies

Sorry, I don't buy into the whole. "Don't ***** because you're getting it free" argument. You're not getting it for free, it's a reward for getting CCP a new customer to add to their already overtaxed game environment. When Radioshack convinces someone to sign a new contract with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc. They recieve a bounty from that company from doing so which they sort-of, split with you in order to give you your "free" phone.
Aside from this. I would want to know why on earth I would want any of my friends to play EVE now at perhaps it's worst point in it's history.
-Desynch still isn't fixed -A new form of desynch is appearing in the form of not being able to target people as they warp away from gates or in many other cirumstances as well. -The trend of nerfs towards taking away any sort of sandbox mentality with EVE. What's a sandbox if you can only build castles or moats? -CCP Zulupark; I would never ask one of my friends to come play a game that is being balanced by someone who thinks dictors are meant to bubble and die immediately after.
The trend here is like what's happening with Comcast. Company gets too big and stops giving a **** about it's customers. There isn't any excuse why noone knows how to work with the code associated with the billboards anymore. There's no excuse that desynch still happens even after more than a year of being worked on (and no excuse that it's getting worse now)
and even if there was an excuse for all of that, there would never be an excuse for cramming more people into a game they already are having difficulties handling on a very basic level.
I've brought quite a few people to this game who even now play more than I do, but they didn't grow accustomed to the EVE I did. When they were in game desynch was a normal thing (and still is, and is even expanding it's reach on the game)
When I did, I did so through the buddy program, and got nothing- and was rather happy with that, I was asking them to come play because I enjoyed the game and wanted them to come enjoy it with me. There were also many other raffle prizes that are much better than 28 free days between two accounts; For example one of the second or third place prizes was a lifetime subscription to EVE. Which I'd much rather have a chance at than 14 pithy days on my already paid accounts. Many of these were given out, it was cool, interesting, and didn't drive the world to become immensely more populated.
Lets say you get a person to join EVE for a year- 12 months, at the standard what? 15$ rate per month? You're making CCP 180$ per year in straight income. They're willing to share 7$ of that with you for getting them a new customer, that's 25.7 times less than they'd make off of your friend. This costs them nothing too, because they run the game, the time is free to them as long as the other subscribers are still generating a profit for them.
Now think of how many friends you'd have to introduce to be equivalent to a lifetime subscription to EVE, or one of the former third place raffle prizes. Much less the worth of the second or first prizes. That seemed like it was appropriate. If CCP gets 1,000 new accounts out of this, then they only pay out 7,000$ for them. Sounds like pretty damn cheap advertising to me.
but okay, whatever; You're more than entitled to be happy for getting pretty much nothing, and that's fine.
but seriously, **** all of you who think you're "right" that the OP shouldn't be *****ing. You don't know what you're talking about, and noone has even tried to spell it out half as well as I have. So go on basking in your ignorance, you'll have a chance to get fourteen more days to do it, and I won't be joining you in rejoicing for recieving a five cent prize for being good at the dentist's office.

I disagree. The old system rewards a handful of players very well, and the rest who attracted new players got nothing.
The wingman program is much fairer.
