They need fixed
- Allow them to operate with covert ops device OR
- Allow them to fire missiles then cloak after yet still having the missiles do dmg (all enamy have atleast 4 seconds to see the bombers position and send fast ships into its direction)
Being able to warp cloacked means i can get into position withough every frig and his mum seing me... and the missiles hiting when i cloak means that its simply not a case of a sniper bs locking and 1 hit poping me in fleet battles.. means they actualy have to see my location and send in some fast frigs to counter.
sb's are currently frig killers.. thats what their made for but it looks to be that any1 with half a clue regardless of ship is a sb killer..

And what use would that be considering tech 1 frigates is pretty much the only thing you can one-volley?

Get a gang of them going together, with interceptors and an interdictor for support and they are an anything killer.

They had ALOT more ships than on there. And btw isnt boasting just showing can do what they are ment for.
You can uncloak fire cloak. They travel for around 30k, you gotta be quite close to your target and its really fun xD.

Someone apparently doens't understand the concept of "lie and wait". The stealth bomber is supposed to already "be" in position waiting for hostiles. It isn't supposed to be getting into position after the fact.
You selectively pick targets at the appropriate time and capacity that gives you the upper hand. This is the capacity for which they were designed and when flown according to this role and strategy they work great. Stealth Bombers are anti-frig/small cruiser ships. At that they only function as mega alpha damage ships to single stray figs and cruisers. They aren't gate camp busters.
If you want something with more maneuverability and damage, fly a recon.
Stealth Bombers are fine. ------------------------------------------------- **** You're out of your mind!

If you are positioned within about 5 seconds of flight time away from your target, you can already do what you suggest. Decloak, lock, fire, cloak, pop. It's a pretty neat trick actually.

Load up three/four bombs and that would be about ...
8000 shield damage and 12000 armor damage ...!
SB's rock the game at the mo ... are great for hunting frigs and shuttles in 0.0 carrying them all too vakluable bp's late at night .. im working on an inty killing sb... I know its out there somewhere any help would be an idea.
I got 120 k missiles (great for uncloaking and joinning gate battle .. great also for drone killing etc etc. But inties are sneaky.
So heres my set up for anti inties.
Fat boy
Three cruise - one gun improved (driving me mad not being able to fit the last high slot.)
sensor boost 2 with speed lock scripts/ range cap boost (trying to squeeze a webber on here - mwd)
halycon stab ballistic control tech two (playing with the halycon stab for micro generator)
Implementing a small warp bubble and stopping the inty dead for a little while and shooting at 9 k might allow you in some way to enable (specially if you have proj tech twos on so maybe a hound. a decent one shot kill to inties. That SB wont take much damage from them inties without popping.
Armor Rigs may be the answer.
Im getting close I think though ..

I've been using stealth bombers a few months ago..
With this T2 frigate u can never make a solo kill when ur not attaking some others frig's (t1 or t2) cause the dmg u do with a volley cannot surpass 2K unless u use T2 cruise missiles.
It's nice to be able to launch volleys at 170Km+ but only as support dmg, and not very appreciated by the tacklers who risk their ships for u. And then u can uncloack to let ur missiles hit the target almost atm u let next wave on the way.
The bomb launcher role, the thing that really makes the stealth bomber worthy, is not good for it's cost. But thanks to CCP the prices will be less, so then we'll have to see how it works. When u are in a bomb launcher squad, only one by SB, u can launch bombs at 15-17km from the enemy fleet and then pray to keep alive until it explodes. The really interesting matter about bombs is the effect area because it's fine for enemies who are taken through a bubble in their warp (not so good in gates); today it's something that cant be done in engage's.
Another interesting role related with the SB is it's PW supperiority making it capable of running a cynosural field generator without taking any launchers out. It's cargo lets it take some ammo (400 of each dmg). I dont know very well about others but when ur seeing a big gang who's waiting to engage in a gate. Wouldnt be interesting opening a cyno at 150km+ to let some nice comrades come and show them no mercy? (Not thinking about a titan comming that way.. would be mad to engage that way
Until u have enogh skill (lvl V in: Cover Ops & Navigation) it's not possible to fly faster than a cover ops while cloak (when u use an improved cloaking device). Then u have 400m/s to move around when and be aligned if someone see's u.

a SB when used correcly will bug the HELL out of a hostile gate camp. you simply warp in, cloak and then take potshots at any small ships. Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi". |

They need to fix the fact that if you recloak before missiles land they perform 0 damage. Considering that a Stealth Bomber is paper thin and cannot tank anything it needs to recloak A.S.A.P.

I am getting SO sick of these "Boost SB Threads".
Stealth bombers do not need ANY kind of boost. They are fine as they are. Stealth Bombers are a very "Niche" kind of ship. VERY specialized. If you can't figure out how to run them right then go fly something else.
Are they worth using in highsec? Not really, they are somewhat useful when at war, it might be fun to can-bait someone...
Are they worth using in lowsec? Again...not really. You'll need very good skills to shoot someone far off the gate without getting shot at by the guns, even if you shoot at someone with GCC they will have plenty of time to warp off before you hit them depending on your range.
Are they worth using in 0.0? BINGO! Whatever systems you plan on flying in, setup a lot of BookMarks. BM's are your best friend in a SB. Set up the BM about 400-500km from the gate/celestial object. Anytime you get someone you want to try and kill there, you warp the that BM, then come down on them and IF "you know what you are doing" you will get yourself some good kills provided the circumstances are just right.
SB's arn't meant to be solo pwn mobiles. If you stick a cov ops cloak on them...they would be overpowering. Regular Cov Ops would be practically obsolete with the exception of their scan bonus.
Hit and run tactics, and well coordinated attacks with other SB's and tacklers are what the SB's are meant to be used. And they excell at it.
This is how you use a stealth bomber.
The only "boost" that should be "given" to SB's if any, would be a ridiculous increase to Missile Velocity, and a Nerf to Missile Duration. If done right, the range would not change, and the missiles would hit their targets much much much faster than normally.
As is, they are perfectly fine, and I can live with them the way they are. Finish my sentence please...
Adapt and...
*EDIT* Shooting missiles while cloaked would be overpowering as well. Being able to lock while cloaked MIGHT work...I think that may take a lot of research to see if that is truly overpowering or not...

Everyone else has already really taken care of this thread. Niche ship, it can actually do some of what you suggest already, ect. I just want to bring up the fact that if you caldari navy pimp it you can break 300dps with a frigate that can cloak, and operate from range.
Bombers are one of the most interesting t2 ship classes as far as i'm concerned. They make good scouts, they work well at scaring off support/non inty tacklers. And unless you warped into a gate that has 50+ fighters on it, they are fairly survivable ships. Cost is about the same as a t2 fit t1 cruiser. My puri is way more fun than my omen, or lolz maller. Though the maller and I would have the same dps =P

Stealth bombers are actually quite a bit of fun. When deployed correctly, a SB can run the spectrum, starting at annoying as hell all the way up to downright lethal. And depending on your agenda, aggrivating can be every bit as much of a victory as an actual killmail. Of course, if you're just randomly ganking lone shuttles and frigs, you'll want the kill, but if your goal is to disrupt a competitor, you can succeed without getting a single mail. Well piloted SBs can be a huge source of frustration.
I haven't flown one recently, not since the massive missile buffs and bombs, but back in the day (when they sucked), I managed to have a blast with mine on a daily basis.
They're a specialty ship, and require certain ... conditions for everything to come together properly, but luckily for you, you're cloaked, so you can pick and choose your targets. A good SB pilot will keep his ship for a very long time.
To the I-wish-I-could-uncloak-fire-and-recloak crowd, I have good news. You can! You can do exactly what you want already. The rub is, you need to be within 30 km of your target. Grow a pair and take some risks (acceptable risks). master this technique and you'll get alot of kills.
If this trick were possible at max range, SBs would be completely overpowered. Suppose you do this to someone from 130 km. You uncloak, passive target, and put missiles in the air. As soon as you fire, you'll flash red on your target's OV, but since you're cloaking immediately, the flashing stops after a moment and as far as anybody else knows, they're alone. Then 20 seconds later, they see a missile splash and wonder wtf just happened. Sorry, as fun as that might be, it's not fair play.
to the they-should-get-covert ops-cloak! crowd ... wrong again. Way too overpowered. The whole concept of stealth bombers is a lie and wait attack. You pick a nice cozy spot, and you wait. Then you wait and you wait and you wait some more. If you pick your spot wisely, you'll see plenty of action.
Making what I like to call "sneak" bookmarks will help you, as well. Make bookmarks just offgrid of a favorite spot. Then, if there's already activity, you can warp to this bookmark, cloak, and slowboat it in, completely concealed and ready to surprise somebody.
Stealth bombers are actually in pretty good shape the way they are. Most of them have more launchers now and they all have double the dmg bonus they used to. Combined with the exp. radius bonus they've always had, they can be dangerous.
But they do take some time to learn the proper deployment. Bombers don't need boosts. Bomber pilots just need to refine their techniques.

the recloak thing is not true. the missile will still hit the target over 2,5 seconds after you recloak
And thus, if you uncloak, fire, then recloak within about 30-40km of your target, the missiles will hit after you are cloaked. It takes practice to do all that quickly and in the right order, but it does work.
Your only other defense is being outside of their range.

theirs a 0.0 gate camp that has 3 cruisers 1 interceptor and 1 sniper battle ship (not a great setup but bare with me) my obvius target is the interceptor... so i get into 30 of him unkloak missiles away and cloak. If im lucky the sniper was slacking and didnt even atempt to lock me.. and the interceptor dies.. now im sure the 3 cruisers have seen me so they all steam role into my last seen direction and are doing 1-2k it will take them no longer than 10-15 seconds to close the gap and be ontop of me. Ofc ill be aligned whilst cloked at this point and then uncloking to warp out but the sniper bs is well aware of my presence and is waiting to alpha me with a full rack of arty.
Dunno if thats the way it would go down.. please tell me otherwise ;[

I'm sorry, but there is no other ship in the game that you have to sit there and wait for the "circumstances to be just right". This ship needs a covert cloak, plain and simple. How would it be overpowered? If you have solid reasoning, explain away. Because I'll be able to pop frigs? Woop di ****in do. Reasons, not "because it would be overpowering".

In regard to your first point here, that will be answered above. As for the second point: It would not make covert ops obsolete at all. Atm covert ops are used for scouting enemy movements and scanning out loggers / safespotters. Even if you give the stealthbomber covert cloak, just hack apart its warp speed. This will keep covert ops as king in the scouting dept.

Stealth bombers would get no extra DPS from a covert cloak. They'd still need tacklers and other SB's to get anything done. Think before you immediately start screaming.

Lower the amount of damage stealth bombers do then you can give them the cover ops cloak.
My mind is just cackling at the things I would be able to do, that I can not do right now, if I could warp while cloaked (especially with 4+ other bombers with me).
I had a huge post written with scenarios but figured...it's not worth it. Just sit and think about what you can and can't do right now and then think about what you would be able to do.
People underestimate how much damage these little things really do. ---
