Our corp has given out some shares to people who are no longer playing eve. Is it possible to get these back? Can I petition them back?
Does'nt seem right to have our dividends being shared into dead accounts.
If anyone has any thoughts?

We lost shares that way too, seems kinda annoying that you KNOW for sure that the dividends you pay out goes into nothingness.
Would be different if those people were actually there as these shareholders have somehow earned/bought those shares in the first place, but in this particular case we are still in contact with said shareholders and we know that they aren't gonna play anymore.

A shareholder vote to revoke the shares of a particular person would be nice,,,

I dont think voting shares back is the way to do it. Normally shares are bought to help invest in a company to get it going and the dividends are your sort of reward for as long as you care to hold on to your shares.
However in this case we're talking about shares on people that sorta ceased to exist.

You really can't get them back, unfortunately, all you can really do is a large stock split and redistribute to marginalize their holdings. Of course, if you have more members quit after the split, the number of held shares will grow exponentially.
Now, just think of it as your own personal attempt to add additional isk-sinks into the game :) _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony

Simple question, but why you SHOULD vote them back. They get them in a legitimate way. What is the reason to take it from them?

well they do not play the game any more, so it just seems a shame to loose isk (or water it down) to players who are no longer in game.

it'd be rather cool if the shares could have some sort of a buyback clause added to them, that would enable the corporation to get the shares back for the same price they were sold (or given) to the shareholder, if certain requirements are met (like character has not been active for 6 months or something like that)

Just more functionality around shares other than them being "dumb" objects would be nice. Unfortunately their value is determined by players, and at risk of being abused if any reasonable security measures around ISK are put in place. Securities against share scams also raise the same issues and form a massive isk-injector. Please visit your user settings to re-enable images. Improve Market Competition! |

I suppose then, it seems, there is no way to get the shares back from people who no longer subscribe.
It would be great if upon receiving shares you had to agree to some kind of claus. Where a player getting the shares could choose to "auto give back shares" if they do not activate thier account within say 3 months or something? CCP?

What I would like to see is a corp only share that if your in corp you get the share but the second you leave corp you lose the shares (they revert back to the corp) so that you could use them to reward members of your corp and pay members of your corp but the second somone left your corp they reverted back.

That'd be all well and good, but it doesn't solve the issue of shares. I run a public corp, hence my shares are owned by non-corp players. If I want to do an aggressive buyback of those shares for one reason or another (share re-issue maybe), while I wouldn't mind if someone steadfastly refused to part with their shares, it's impossible to do if someone has simply quit the game, and I'm forced to create a new corporation.
