Yep got my hulk popped in high sec.
For my fellow miners here is how the geekswarm does it.
- They send in a character flying a starter ship such as an ibis to bump you off align.
- They then warp in 5 - 6 Cruisers apparently fitted with smart bombs.
- They then ... blow ya up. say good by to your ship and your pod if your slow on the warp!
How to avoid the geekswarm
- Set standing on all Goons to -10 so you can see em in local and your overview easier.
- If you see a starter ship pop into your belt get aligned and up to speed.
- That starter ship will leave and warp back in close to you. Do not wait, warp to station.
No need to even reply with nonsense I've already canceled my accounts, there are a lot other games out there that are not 100% grief and gankfests.
I hope my suggestions help other miners avoid the lose of their mining ships.

Why would you waste all that time and rl money you invested in the game by quiting over a single ship loss that you could have avoided if you had taken your own advice? This does not compute. --------------------- Q: WTF! Why?! A: Because I can. --------------------- |

No no, we're supposed to feel sorry for ourselves. Multiple accounts means more money lost for CCP and thus a worse game for us!

Hate to see ya go. Normally i'd say the whole "Can I have your stuff" line but I guess I can kind of understand his ****ed-off-ness. I can't even fly a hulk, I bet it'd suck to lose one. --------------------------------------------------

He's actually got a very good point. But I applaud what Goons are doing, because the more they do it, the sooner CCP will hit suicide ganking with the nerf-bat.

Nowhere in Eve is 100% safe, the sooner people realise that, the sooner they accept the game for what it is or move on.
It's a fundemental case of "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen."
Good luck in finding another MMO that comes even close to Eve.

Exactly.
Still it's unfortunate that we're losing good players over these unbalanced game mechanics. ---

We've been kicking around the reason why people are whining so hard about this on SA and someone came up with a pretty good summary of it.
Quote: Really, the actions of JihadSwarm have brought out a lot of whining (hence tag).
These people appear to play EVE despite its pvp focus. Why is that? I think it's because there isn't another good internet spaceship game.
These people want to play internet spaceships, but don't want to PVP. Some of them play EVE and just try to avoid PVP. When they can't, they can't fight back so they whine.
Would be really interesting to see what happens if there's another internet spaceship game that is carebear and not really lousy or minor (like Vendetta Online). Star Trek online might be this but I'd give 97% odds against.

Sure, as soon as concord gets nerfed to faction navy level(the ones you fight in missions), and we can invade empire.

these are most definately not good players in CCP's books. If CCP was in this purely for profit they would've redesigned their game long ago creating a more appealing pve system and trying to appease all players all the time. the fact is they're not. they're establishing the model that will be used for every future fully player run mmorpg and as long as they're employees are happy I doubt they'll be changing anything they see that doesnt add to their dream.
these are not good players because they're not willing to accept the mechanics of CCP's of a fully player run universe.

Hitting suicide ganking with a nerf bat has no sense. The current mechanics were in place for years. Now that one alliance decides to use it to their advantage people cry nerf. I see your points, however the more hard limits are placed on this game the less "EVE" it will become.
Giving counters to miners in forms of more medium slots on barges for electronic warfare modules would be a much better option for example. But that's just first thing that came to my mind.

Maybe some people want to PVP, but have found that the game mechanics are vastly in favor of grief-PVP, while professions like bounty hunter and anti-pirate are not really valid at all. ---

So, are the goonies sitting on some huge pile of minerals they wanna sell in hi sec? or do they just want to get rid of the competition for their macro accounts?
And yes i am making up random reasons as to why there doing it cuz we all know they can't be doing it just for the heck of it right? _______________________________________________________ CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!!

So your quiting because you lost 1 ship?
Weeding out the weak is probably the best public service the goons have ever done. Keep up the good work.

so, does that mean warp scramblers are overrated?
Originally by: Raytian They then warp in 5 - 6 Cruisers apparently fitted with smart bombs.
you didn't have much of a tank on your hulk i take it?
medium T1 smartbombs do 100 dmg... so 6 cruisers using say 4 each is total 2400 dmg with zero resists. a hulk base stats shield+armor is more than that. so with any kind of resists, it could easily tank that for at least 2 cycles. with a 10 sec cycle time, they shouldn't have time for much more than 2 or 3 cycles...
also wouldn't they also damage each other since they would all have to be within 4 km of you to even hit you?
Originally by: Raytian No need to even reply with nonsense I've already canceled my accounts, there are a lot other games out there that are not 100% grief and gankfests.
seriously, a hulk costs less than most battleships these days. are you really quitting for such petty reasons? join a corp, mine in mission areas, try a new region... it's really easy to adapt to crap like this...
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
You spineless grunt...
Spitting your dummy out and quitting the game over the loss of a reletivly inexpencive and easily replaced ship is increadably childish. There are far worse things that can happen you than a goonswarm.
If you read carefully, he's not quitting over his loss, he's quitting over the flawed game mechanics which give players the ability to grief without consequence and without any ability to retaliate. ---
