whatever you think this game is about, every time you tell someone "it is a pvp game" or "you're never 100% safe" or "concord provides consequences not protection" just remember that this is not how Eve is advertised.
Can you please tell me where you saw this advertising that says EVE is any different from what it is? The only occasion i've seen that EVE isn't up to it's advertising claims is when they talk about "Massive Fleet Battles".

Quite frankly, there'd be a fraction of the current playerbase if you were told you could be blown up anywhere after a week of play and lose all your stuff for no real loss on the part of your attacker, and that if you petition it, you'll probably get denied a reimbursement after a two week wait for a response and lambasted on forums to boot.
Actually, when I began to play, it was the fact that you were free to blow up whomever you wanted, wherever you wanted, as long as you were prepared to face the consequences that got me interested in the game. The developers wanted to make a MMORPG that actually had consequences when you die, not just a "respawn with everything you had and be forced to walk back to where you died to continue" type of game.
Also, I've had one occasion where I lost a ship due to a bug in the game, which I petitioned. Later the VERY SAME DAY, I recieved a prompt, polite reply from a GM, who had checked over the logs and agreed with my appraisal of the situation, and he'd kindly parked a brand new Cyclone in my hangar for me, fitted with the items that were destroyed along with my ship. I was never "lambasted on the forums" about the issue, as I'm rather lacking in Stupidity (only trained halfway to level 1 tbh), therefore realising that whining and abusing Devs on the forums isn't the way to resolve a problem. That issue specifically is a very important reason for the Petition system, and is the reason I didn't post about it on the afore-mentioned forums.

So next time you decide to break the news about what Eve is really about to someone, just remember Eve isn't exactly what it says on the tin
I have a funny feeling you haven't been playing long enough to actually have a Boxed copy of EVE (I do!!!), therefore I'm gonna give you some trivia about the tin: IT'S A CARDBOARD BOX!!!!!. Also, the "tin" as you put it quite clearly tells you that this danger is an integral part of the gameplay. in case you don't believe me, here's a link to the original back cover of the box: EVE-Online "Tin" Back Cover
Anyway, I hope you take the time to consider the points I've made, and if not, try not to let the door hit your bum on the way out (I dislike cleaning poo off my door) and on the way out, Contract your "Ones and Zeros" to me.

P.S. Thankyou to EVE-Tribune for both existing, and providing me that image, saving me the need to photograph and upload it myself.
