Go away.
If you think the game is pathetic, perhaps you shouldn't be spending $14.95 a month on a product whose quality you find so poor?

Edited by: Ombey on 28/03/2008 21:13:58 Yep, he is probably referring to the 49-U fight. Here's my experience- takes ages to load the grid, then I am taking damage in my BS from an Incursus. Launch drones... oh "the item is busy". The Incursus singlehandedly chews through my shields while all my modules and drones are "busy". I try to lock targets, nothing doing.
So I just float, shields gone, into armour, activate repper... ah, that's not responding either. So, I log off- better that then just sitting there like a lemon. Trying to log back in now, sigh.
Nothing new, but it doesn't make any the less frustrating. -- 2d EveMaps My blog

Correct Ombey. Died to an invisible ship. But naturally there will be no server lag and the fanbois in empire will just carry on with their mining or whatever. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "In the wake of DDaisy's Megathron"

Well, although you've edited your post I know what's going on here.
And you're right. CCP won't bother reading it, because they've already read the 20,000 other threads on the same subject. The only thing you're wrong about is that they won't do anything. Because they are doing something. In fact, what they're doing is re-writing a load of their server code so that it supports infiniband, which will hopefully reduce the lag a great deal.
CCP spend lots of time and money on trying to sort out lag, and have said what they are doing to solve it. What they can't do, however, is make the process take less time.

Sorry to hear about your loss DDaisy. Unfortunatly it seems that fleet combat is going to be one of the last things fixed by the gist of the dev blogs. Infiniband will help overall loading especially in places like Jita and Motsu but will not have much effect on fleet lag. Moar servers so that whole regions don't share one node would help but that takes lotsa rl ISK and that means attracting lotsa moar newbs(steam) happily inhabiting safe empire paying thier subs. I think like every other big issue fleet lag will be overcome but its gonna be one of those Soon(tm) events. --------------------- Q: WTF! Why?! A: Because I can. --------------------- |

I'm not being a fanboi. I am loathe to employ "love it or leave it arguments." That is to say, everyone who plays eve has the right to critique CCP and suggest improvements towards the betterment of the game for the entire community.
Your post, however, was entirely devoid of any constructive criticism. Instead, you merely call the entire game "pathetic" and suggest that CCP shut down the server.
The insinuation is that you think eve-online is a piece of **** that doesn't deserve to be an on-line and active MMO. If you felt otherwise you wouldn't have used loaded terms like "pathetic" and you would have offered something other than "your game sucks shut it down."
Given that, I am well within reason to revert to an argument that suggests in the end, eve-online is a product produced by a capitalist entity. You've made clear you hate the product, and don't think it should be sold.
Given that its a pay-to-play service (the program itself is free) that you can cancel at will, I suggest you do it.

Well to give the op some credit he did almost immediatly edit his original poast. Loosing an exspensive ship to fleet lag can only be a bad experiance after all.

Karlemge I take on board what you say, however like you I pay every month to play this game. If you hired a vehicle from a garage that constantly stopped for extended periods of time and did not do what it was supposed to do. Would you be happy? If your satellite television regularly froze for 10-20 mins do you think that would be acceptable?
No it would not. CCP provide a service that we pay a substantial amount for each per month and consistently they fail to deliver. That is a shocking breach of any service agreement. Yes they might be trying to fix it but this game has been around along time. I know, I have been here for most of it, yet this is consistenly the single most complained about aspect of the service.
If your satellite television provider delivered that level of service for 4 years do you think they would still be in business? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "In the wake of DDaisy's Megathron"

Not to be crass but the people effected by fleet lag make up roughly 17% of the total active paying playerbase. This means that things that fix issues to thier gameplay style have to take a backseat to the issues that keep the lights on in the server room. If I was you I'd be trying to get all the new people you can to join up so that CCP can afford to dedicate moar stuff for the 0.0 minority of the playerbase. Business is Business after all. --------------------- Q: WTF! Why?! A: Because I can. --------------------- |

No, and in that case I wouldn't use it. That's the point.
People play EVE because they understand why MMO's in general have the issues they do. They change at a very rapid pace all the time; the users interact directly with the product in ways that are impossible to predict and control. Lets also consider that MMOs are competitive environments, so it is not out of the question that people exploit problems to gain an advantage.
MMOs are also relatively immature. EVE especially is, and it faces problems unique in the MMO industry. Those problems all have to be delt with as they arise for the first time. Eventually MMOs will mature to a stage where problems like the ones we face in EVE are non-existent, but until that time we have to understand that we are playing a game in a genre that is still being developed as a whole. You don't have to accept that though, you can always opt-out.
I'd also argue that cars and satellite TV aren't comparable to running an MMO, but I can't be bothered really.

Whilst it's always amusing to see the, "Can I have your stuff" "Bye bye" posts. They are actually even less constructive than my supposedly non constructive post.
In response to them? Nope you can't and sorry not going yet. If I do? Nope you can't it will get trashed with my 5 accounts.
No I don't have a suggestion either. I don't have expertise in the matter and shouldn't have to as a paying customer. Why have a dog and bark yourself and all that.........
As to Eve being a more junior member of the MMO community. It is actually quite the opposite. It is one of the longest standing. It's fleet warfare has actually got worse not better. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "In the wake of DDaisy's Megathron"

It's gotten worse because there are more people using the server, but the servers haven't changed much to accommodate them. That's what CCP are trying to fix.
Also, I never said EVE was a junior member of the MMO community, I said it faced unique problems in the MMO community, and that the MMO community as a whole was still quite young, especially in it's current form.

Whilst I'm usually one of the aforementioned fanbois, I agree with your summation of the game's ability to handle fleet-fights. Whilst I know that CCP like the game to be a sandbox and therefore allow you to do as you wish (400 v 400 and the like), I'm starting to come to the opinion that fleet fights of this magnitude shouldn't be allowed because of the simple fact that the game/server/whatever is unable to handle it.
How you impose such a restriction in such an open-ended world? No idea.
