This is a slippery slope for EvE Online. They're starting micro transactions. From what I could understand (which can be wrong mind you) in a week, we will be able to purchase ammunition with real money and players will no longer be able to craft ammunition. If you read further into the article they have plans to introduce other options such as, purchasing Tech 2 blue prints for real money. What's next? Instant PVP battleship? Instant POS? This list can go on and on. How do you think this will affect your favorite game? (Good and Bad)

Personally I thought it was a pretty terrible April Fools joke, but at least they'll be having a jolly good laugh at all the people who still managed to fall for it

My favorite is the bit about "NanoAmmo", but "InstaClone", "Dock-O-Matic", and "BlueprintNow" are pretty good too. Please visit your user settings to re-enable images. |

I'm rather disappointed. I don't want the ammo to morph into what I want ... I want the ammo to morph into what causes the my target to pop on the first volley! This is such a ripoff! I'm taking my 200 accounts and leaving if CCP doesn't change it to the way that only benefits me!

Someone must have had a jolly good day at CCP lately. You have to be passing drunk to come up with words like "NanoAmmo".
Also you must be very brave to introduce something like a "Dock-O-Matic" to the EVE community.
CCP Hammer, you have spent too much time with Oveur!

I think "BlueprintNow!" is a brilliant concept. Why, just last week I was wishing there was a button I could press so that I could instantly receive, say, a Nighthawk BPO. With this new system, that dream will become a reality, with the only requirement being a new mortgage to cover the credit card charge! I hope there's an option to have it include research -- for a nominal fee, of course...

Too true. April Fools has gone the way of the stupid. Instead of being intelligent and interesting, plus thought-provoking, it's turned to the outright obvious or too-stupid-to-be-true route.

I'd go with when it wasn't blatantly obvious that it was a joke. Subtlety used to be important, along with wit. There was a time when most people didn't obviously say, "It's April 1st." That BBC bit is pretty good, but the Pythons would have done better: they wanted to make a skit wherein they gradually turned down the volume on the mics until the viewers would have had to max their volume in order to hear anything at all; at that point the Pythons would have restored normal mic volume and blown out the speakers on any viewers' TV. That would have been a good and unexpected joke.
At least Blizzard puts some thought into it and makes their jokes semi-plausible, or at least funny on a certain level. Most people just scream, "LOOK! I'M MAKING AN APRIL FOOL'S JOKE!!!!" It's like it's expected and we can ignore it. Blizzard and a few others accept that their users, for the most part, are gonna realize it's April 1, and they run with it to give a laugh. Others, like Wikipedia, seem to assume that everyone is an idiot and try to make stupid jokes that anyone with half a brain can instantly spot and ignore. That's not funny
