Try installing python-gtk2 package as it looks like you don't have the GTK bindings for python installed.

thank you for your reply, it was usefull to solve the problem, but now i got a new error message =(
it says: There was a problem granting group read and write permissions on /media/external_drive/eve for the group cedega. You might wish to try again with a single-user install.
(i'm installing it on an external drive of course)
if i try a single-user install (as the error message says) then it says that i got no admin privileges ._.
i'm so sad =( and hope someone will be able to help me :)
ps i did chmod 777 on the destination folder, but nothing changed

by the way, i'm now reading that i need cedega??? but when i go to register it ask my billing information, have i to pay to download it???
No, a version of Cedega is bundled with the package.
As for the permissions error, what happens if you manually chgrp the destination to the cedega group?
Personally, I've never had the Cedega client working, but run very nicely using Wine, so if you still have no luck you might want to consider that. |

Looks like you're not root when you try to change group. Maybe it's not necessary though, don't know about Xandros. How did you install EVE? As root or via sudo? What gives 'ls -la eve'?

just a piece of warning, remember that the graphics card in the eee pc is not supported by the linux client. This could mean some funky stuff will happen with the graphics but it might actually run.
You should also take a look at http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=379 and make sure you have all the dependencies installed.

Hi Mate,
I have a triple-eee and was having trouble too, i abandoned the idea when I realised I could use VNC to log into my home computer and then the graphics could be done by that machine so less lag. First off the chgrp thing wont work unless you type "sudo chgrp [groupname] dir", on the eee it wont prompt you for a password.
But another thing is that media is actually a virtual mount point on the triple E. You will have trouble using it as a typed reference point. Your better to try the XandrosMntDir address or the /dev/sda? address. Also have you read the stuff at www.eee-user.com about how to set up your external media to be executable from linux?? If you havent formatted it to ext2 or 3 (i forget which) you will never have privileges to execute anything on the media disk without root priveledges.
Let me know how you get on, I might reattempt installing eve on mine. I whine alot :( |
