Edited by: Rhatar Khurin on 10/04/2008 11:43:06 Hullo. I am pretty new to doing missions and my combat skills arnt too hot. (but you should see my ability to mine!)
I bought a shiny new Hurricane after finding my trusty stabber getting torn up pretty badly in some level 2 missions and messed around for a while to see what seemed to work best.
Currently the setup is..
High: 6 x 280mm howitzer artys, 2 x Malkuth Assault launchers.
Meds: afterburner, webber, 2 x barton capacitor chargers.
Lows: MAR, 2 x Gyro stabilizer, Energized Thermic membrane, Energized Magnetic membrane, Energized reactive membrane.
It seems to work pretty well and with the armour repairer running it takes an age to run out of capacitor. but i know it could be a lot better.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: I do have skills to use medium guns and other things, but found i couldn't hit the inside of a barn door with them on my missions. _ EVE RELATED CONTENT |

The Cane gets bonus to Medium guns so you must use those. Train up your gunnery support skills and you will hit more.
When using Arties it is best to be either flying directly towards or away from your target to keep transversal velocity to a minimum.
Use a tracking enhancer in the lows if you have to, otherwise the setup looks ok. Train drones and use warrior 2's for the small ships.
Good luck. --------- If the Thorax was a car it would look like this |

thats a good advice but not really the most efficient way to lower transversal (unless you can REALLY outrun the fooqueur).
lowering transversal works like this: "look at" target. position camera behind target. doubleclick the direction the target is going.
if you do it right, you fly parallel to your target.
enable "transversal" or "angular" velocity column on overview (if you want) to see how it drops. with some playign around you can get it to 0.
ofc this doesnt work if youre webbed. thats why you should have some assault launchers / drones / a web to get rid of those frigs that try to web you.
speaking of a web: with motion prediction 3 or 4 i can hit EVERY webbed NPC frigate just fine with 720 arties, if im sitting still.
something else: the cane might not be the best option for lvl TWO missions, which are, iirc, frig heavy. id use a bellicose with some shield extenders, fof assaults and drones. let it auto-mop-up the tiny npcs. lvl2 arent worth the clickwork, once you reached about five skillpoints in combat

First, did you try a rupture? It's far and away better for level 2's than a stabber.
Second, never fit small turrets on a ship that's only bonuses are to medium projectiles.
Third, don't omni-tank a mission ship. Fit at the very least 1 of each of the best hardners for the enemies you're up against in the mission and even then, often times 2x and 1 of the highest and second highest damage type.
For my mission hurricane that I zoomed through level 3's to get to 4's I fit something like:
High: 6x 650mm Medium Gallium Cannon 2x Heavy Missile Launcher
Mids: Afterburner, Web, 2x Tracking Comp
Lows: MAR 2x gyro 3x Mission Specific Hardners(2x highest 1x lowest)
Everything but the highs were t2. It all fit with max skills and only with the absolute hardest missions did I have a problem with my tank. I absolutely cruised through missions with this setup.

Thanks for the advice, it helped me a lot.
Yer, i switched back to medium guns and just maneuvered the ships slightly differently and trying to keep range better and i was having no trouble hitting ships.
I used to fly a rupture, it's ease of fitting was a dream compared to the stabber which uses up nearly all its powergrid just fitting guns on it. but alas i couldn't stand the sight of it. _ EVE RELATED CONTENT |
