Hey guys, just have a quick question... i know what AA does (smothes out the edges on 3d models) But i just now actualy looked at the settings on my vid card and under the AA there's 4 options i 'know' what it means.. (aplication controled, none, 2x, and 4x) well there's a fith option which is 8xS... now.. what the heck does the S stand for? and should i realy set it to the max setting? (which im guessing is the 8xS) or just set it to 4x and leave it there?
Thanks for any answers/tips
p.s. Im using a Nvidia XFX 9750 GT pci x-press 16

Edited by: Imperator Jora''h on 11/04/2008 23:17:24 8xS is Antialiasing 8x Supersampled.
Supersampling provides a better image but at the price of lower frame rates. (Essentially the card renders the scene at a higher resolution, antialiases that then downsizes the resolution)

By using a program called NHancer for the NVidia series. Once downloaded and installed either use a preset profile for another game or use a customised profile for the exefile.exe (for Eve).
The customised profile I use is:
Eve Online: Customized Profile
AA: 4x,TranspSS AACompat: 18 AF: 4x SLI: AFR [0x02400001] (predefined) HDR:On
However your mileage may vary, in fact you should be able to use better as I use a 7900 GS.

I think setting like this is good enough:
AA: 4x,TranspSS AACompat: 18 AF: 4x SLI: AFR [0x02400001] (predefined) HDR:On
AA-AF 2x if frame rate is too low. __________________________ River McNamara Trasmissions Admiral & Ambassador |

Err, okay I've set it all, now how to I turn it on? I "activated the profile" if that is what happens, but I restarted EVE and nothing looks different :< |

I'm using this setting in nHancer + HDR enabled in EVE:
AA: 16xQ,Gamma,TranspSS AACompat: 45 AF: 16x VSync: On SLIGraph:Off SLI: AFR [0x02400001] (predefined)
It looks amazing.

Yes. NHancer certainly does the trick. What gfx card do you have by the way?

Do any of the above posters using AA + HDR with an 8800GT or similar get flashing white squares on cloaked ships just after jumping?
I don't get the problem if I turn off HDR or if AA is not forced on; it only happens with this specific combination of settings. I'm using the same compatibility setting in nhancer (45). My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Edited by: Max Torps on 12/04/2008 23:24:33 Open Nhancer Click ADD (under the profile bit) Give it a name like Eve. Next to the executables window, click ADD, navigate to the eve executable called EveFile.exe in the ccp/eve/bin folder.
Now go to the compatability tab, choose 00000045 Oblivion (AA & HDR) Enable HDR further down and choose the various options on the other tabs as detailed in previous posts.
In the options menu at the top click start with windows.
Reboot.
Play Eve.
That should work now.

Does all this work with Eve in windowed mode? I think I heard that it doesn't and I briefly tried nHancer and didn't see any difference.
I'd really like to be able to turn AA on in Eve, but I play in Window mode (but taking up the whole screen via EveMon) so I can ALT+TAB out easily, etc. |

Also, if you're a poor sap like me, there is nothing you can do with the ATI cards.
Even if its a really modern one like a 3850 or a 3870, you need an nvidia card to enjoy eve in its full graphical glory.
Alas not entirely ATI's fault, Eve's screwed up graphical engine is partly to blame people say, either way we need to wait for the dx10 client it seems.

Yeah i was about to ask if there was a way for ATI users to enable both HDR and Anti-Aliasing in EVE, but it seems impossible atm.

in my experience though I no longer use Nhancer do to to many issues involving Nhancer and Ntune colliding (causing several problems).
I found out you need to run the game in full screen mode to be able to see the AA + HDR effects together. --------------------------------------------- Somewhere beyond happyness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness o/ |
