I'm in null space on a 800K alpha toon, in fleet and I am talking smack in local. Trying to get some chemistry. Some red starts crying 'gonna petition you" boo hoo hoo. Pop a hulk, *****a guy for 300 mill? No biggy. Call someone beatch in local though and his feelings are all hurt. Maybe it's just me but if you want to sit in local and call me every name in the book, I can find a block button fast.. just don't blow up my ****.
Some pirates in Eve can be really wierd.
And FTR, it worked. He popped 2 noob ships but never got a pod on me. We didn't get to pop his butt though. On the one chance we had to tackle him, our tackler got disconnected. |

If im reading it correctly, He's saying that people seem to care more about being smached than losing a ship.
And he disagrees with this, on the grounds that he can just block smack but dislikes his **** getting blown up. ----

Ah yeah I feel the same way I don't mind smack really though and don't even block (Only isk sellers get the dreaded BLOCK) because most of the time it isn't serious smack it's more like just joking banter and I give my fair share. I do dislike my ship getting blown up but that's only natural I guess.
So yeah some people just can't help whining and threatening to and writing useless petitions and wasting the GM's time, just ignore those idiots.

That's pretty much my point. We don't get many ISK sellers in 0.0 space because of this 'code' I can't understand, local is dead as well. While it wasn't 'joking banter'. I was trying to fish the guy out. I just can't imagine he would take it personnal. He was red to me because he blew up people ships. Don't take that personnal though..
If Eve PvP is about not getting offended, not socializing, not making it personnal and not working people up, aren't we just having a fittings contest?

I'm not sure how to assess the highs on an Amarr battleship, but where is the T2 in the mids and lows? Most of those modules (maybe all of them) only require level 4 skills before T2 becomes available.

So what you are saying is you started saying bad things to someone and they got offended and now you don't know why???
"So I was walking along and took a bat and smashed in some guys car window and they got ****ed about it. What gives??"
Is this some form of dry humor you are sharing with all of us?
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you and... scouts, logistic ships, people to web you, alts with bonuses, not fitting nice gear, avoiding trafic hubs, etc... easy right?? |

He doesnt realize that smack for smacks sake just doesnt cut it with a lot of people. Specially with a lot of mature adults, specially in 0.0 where a reputation is actually important.
The bottom line is if your a jackass, particularly in Local, people are gonna take note and respond accordingly, and they likely won't forget it if they ever have any dealings with you again.
Of course all this flys right out the window if your talking Goons.

While in local, son't make it flame wars, don't make it personnal, don't talk smack.. here? I guess it's not 0.0 sec here. You can't even follow your own rules. |

Never been a victim of ore thieves but I suppose that would qualify..
I jumped through a gate, he warped to a safe spot. Local: "LOL, you better run beatch. My reaper will own you".
Don't get me wrong. A few have pointed out, I can be a jackass in local. It's true, I can. In terms of it having some detriment on your character? No. That's rubbish. Corps and Alliances I am red to, I will be untill I quit playing. They attack on opportunity and it's mutual. People who are blue to me know I will drop ships in to fleets without hesitation where they are needed. Just because I 'smack talk' in local? They may or may not agree but it isn't an end all be all.

It is one example, sadly enough.
In general, smacktalk is anything that is meant to tease or provoke your opponent. It can be very tongue-in-cheek, especially if both parties have known each other for some time. It can be very funny to witness if you're not on the receiving end, too For example, goading the members of a gatecamp that you just escaped while deep in hull that they "can't keep the broad side of a barn scrambled, ha ha" would be smacktalk.
But then, there are people like the OP, who think that they can define as smacktalk their unrefined insult-slinging and harrassment of whoever else is unfortunate enough to take the bait and reply.
