A recent recruit to the Eve world, I have a suggestion: as it is - when you engage in certain areas (Caldari in my example) of space you soon learn that you must avoid peak times to play the game. CCP - if you address this basic issue - subscription rates will follow - as it is, lag rules, and gameplay follows.
Lag = frustration = loss of interest.
I am a terrifific fan of this game, but a 20+ sec response time on basic command functions is a ship killer and does even worse to interest in continued play.
Cheers!

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 13/04/2008 07:04:59 Jita and Motsu suck. Stay away from those parts of Caldari space and you'll be alright. Mostly. edit: but as a new player you can benefit from Jita's low low prices tbh. It's a paradox I know, but quite frankly I'm in a constant state of anger when I play this game. Embrace your hate and you will succeed in New Eden. DO IT. |

Or you could not do what the majority of the lemmings do and play a different race. Then you won't have this trouble.
Caldari are the "I win" race in Eve for PvEers. It's the easy route. I'm sure most other MMOGs have this same problem. You just need to realize that in Eve you can do anything you want. If you want the ease of Caldari missile boats for PvE, you can do that with any race with a little cross-training (which has no downsides in Eve as it does in some other games). So you can use a Raven in any races' missions. You just either have to move or cross-train for it. It's not that big a deal.
Or you can do what thousands of others have done and use their own races' ships to run missions in their own quiet, lag-free space. |

Indeed -
As a newcomer, and a person who understands the depth and potential of this MMORPG over other alternatives - I simply state that coming into the game I was impressed by the immediate display (perhaps I chose the wrong race to start with) but the congestion was a dissuasion to the intial impression.
Simply stated, this game is amazing - and I only write this post as a warning to those who took the same path as I - The potentials of the contuation ( Low-sec Corp Ops, Pirating, Mercenary Work, Territorial Battles, etc.) are not apparent when confronted w/ the congestion in the starting zones.
So take heed CCP!!
Cheers!

Just because Caldari trade hubs happen to be the most populated doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Players who start as Caldari are not at any inherent disadvantage.
Also CCP is aware of the overpopulation/lag issue. At the moment the hamsters are running as fast as they can to keep the lagging systems working. |

Seriously, CCP is trying to do something about the lag; the problem is that when for instance Jita can handle more before it lags, more players will move there until it lags again...

No need to choose another race. just move. The nice thing about caldari is their ability to choose damage types with their missile boats.
Moreso as a starter, there is no need to go to one of those tipple lvl 4 q 20 agent hubs. If you want to do yourself a favor, do NOT choose to run missions for Caldari Navy.
