I updated to 0.9.59 and premium graphics look pretty bad. I had to rollback to 0.9.58. Anybody else had this issue?

Wine-0.9.59 is being listed as having problems with EVE texture rendering. 0.9.56 thru 0.9.58 seem to be safe bets at the moment. |

Thanks, quick rollback howto for Ubuntu 7.10 users: - In synaptic remove Wine-0.9.59 - Download 0.9.58 from winehq if you don't have it in cache - Close Synaptic, navigate to 0.9.58 deb and install package - go wtfpwn somebody

I tried a similar roll back with .deb packages and 8.04 but with no success I'll try this method later today. |

I just confirmed this. Premium content renders correctly (on nvidia 8800) with wine 0.9.58, using Ubuntu 7.10 x64

I think it may be related to Nvidia drivers bug in combination with some new fetures from wine 0.9.58 in 3D subsytem.
Lights and other tranparet object/textures render ok on my system ( Geforce 7600GT, 2Gb RAM, C2D 2,2 Ghz, Gentoo) with wine 0.9.58,59 and 60, with "OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo" or "backbuffer" (no diference regarding rendering).
What nvidia driver do u use ? i still use 100.14.19 because 169.04 to 171.06 have bad 2D performance and the rendering corruption with textures compressed using the DXT5 compression algorithm (visible in ut2004 for example); 173.08 fixed DXT5 compression algorithm bug but the 2D performance is even worst.
Can anyone try 100.14.19 or 173.08 with wine 0.9.59 and see if lights render in opaque black or not ? it may be a nvidia driver bug (probably the DXT5 compression algorithm bug because on UT2004 only the transparent textures are affected ).

I tried wine 0.9.60 and reinstalled Eve no problem. Except now I'm stuck at the EULA prompt with no way around it. Can't even scroll to accept. -.-

Now with Ubuntu 8.04, i tested wine 0.9.61 and it has exactly the same problem, switched back to wine 0.9.58 and the lights look right.
There is another graphics issue with Ubuntu 8.04 i solved, please read this post for the solution.

Just downgraded from wine 0.59 to 0.58, this time w/o deleting the .wine folder. Works perfectly, no need to reinstall EVE (including registry tweaks and all configs) each time you change your wine version. This probably also goes for upgrading wine, just give it a try. If it works it'll spare you a lot of time!
As a sidenote, this downgrade doesn't fix the known broken outdoor rendering situation for GF 7xxx cards. Just the intro screen with premium looks a bit more 'correctly'. At least the big moving letters are shown while the planet rendering is still broken.
