Now that Shuttles have been removed, you may think that Trit no longer has a price cap....
WELL YOU'RE WRONG!!!!!
By refining Small Standard Containers, we can generate Trit at a cap of 8.49 isk per unit.
Now that won't ever happen you may say, well thats what CCP said about trit getting to 3.6 and look what happened?
I find it very disturbing that CCP would make such a change only partialy. Please CCP, if your so intent on fixing the market please do it properly!

They'll probably remove that too if/when the price of trit gets close to 8. Until then, its not really an issue and its convenient to have containers around for organization (although i guess you could always buy station cans).

Hell why stop at all of anything? Make all commodities a necessary part of either control tower "fuel" or the fuel of some other thing (holy crap what if you had to feed your ships crew with commodities), and make commodities only available from planet harvesting. Watch as desperate wars are waged over rights to planets. Fire will rain from the sky. Women will mate with women. My car's battery will not require replacing this weekend. The rivers will turn to whiskey for some reason and it won't matter because Eve will be that much more hardcore. (tbh)

Its time to stock up on Trit, just in case. 8.49 Isk/Unit sounds very good.

CCP do everything in small steps. Fix. stop. analayze. write a huge report. file it. retrieve it. bring it with you on the next date. Reanalayze it. Then again act.
Most likely the cap will be removed in time. I guess they will be waiting to see the result of this action first before they desides to feed it to the Vogons.

I'm all for them making everything player made.
The problem with million isk shuttles is you shut out the little guys, at least until they figure out they can buy a bpo for less than that and build their own......
(PS at that price its also much cheaper to use the condor, executioner, slasher and atron as a shuttle).

Of course, 1500 trit gives you 333 units of Veldspar, which then in turn can be refined to 1000 units of Veldspar. Reverse ISK-printing! For real!

Why is it "very disturbing"? What disturbs you about it? Do you suspect one of the devs of supplying fantastic quantities of SSCs to their favoured alliance?
CCP have been gradually removing NPCs from the game economy for as long as I have been playing. If they removed them all at once, the shock would be huge; by removing them more carefully, they limit the effects of transition. Economies are complex, non-linear systems, subject to chaotic emergent behavior.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

If trit goes to 8.5 a unit, T1 battleships will rise into the 120 - 150mil price range, making highsec hulk mining profitable again.

Actually, I really do believe that all manufacturable items should be no longer be sold by NPCs. Also, I do believe that all refineable items should become manufacturable. But not because of the price caps, just "because".

Edited by: Rhatar Khurin on 16/04/2008 12:02:05 So some people actually sit in stations buying up tons of cans and refining them and selling the minerals for cheaper than they paid for the can? That seems rather dodgy tbh. If quite inventive.

It will and if you find out where most of the minerals come from, you will even learn why. --

The latest patch had a change in it where NPCs no longer produce and sell shuttles. By purchasing and refining them you'd get an amount of tritanium, basically introducing an arbitrary cap to trit costs. In other words if trit ever went up over a certain price it'd be cheaper to just buy shuttles and refine them.
The solution was as above; remove shuttles from the market.
Hope that helps.

Except you're wrong.
Insurance defines a hard cap for t1 ships, making it impossible to surpass a given price. If trit were to spike to 8 p/u, other mineral prices would slump to compensate because people will never pay more than the insurance payout+cost.

Don't people already do that with T2 ships? If every battleship was 100-200million ISK, people will still buy them. Didn't some HACs used to cost 15-200mil?

Indeed, insurance is irrelevant in capping the cost of T1 ships, just like it is with T2 ships. Most people are willing to pay 120m for a BS, if that's what the materials to build it cost.
