I am always trying to improve myself as a player. I feel it is the CEO's duty to provide intersting gameplay through his vision and goals. I feel that CEO's should build a working structuree that provides the service of employment to its employees and products/services to the greater EVE community. But that is my opinion. Is there other things I may be overlooking as a CEO? Any replies would be appreciated.
Because when it is all said and done, it is about who has the most isk. |

It would be selfish to speak for myself really (oh hi, I'm a CEO!).
Endless dedication, having to keep the troops updated and coming up with refreshing news/reports/activities every now and again. Being able to broker deals with other entities, being charismatic enough to secure such deals. Think ahead, plot plans in stages, each with a set timeframe and measurable degree of success (resource allocation, recruitment numbers, pvp statistics) and so on, and so on. ---

A good ceo is the driving force behind his/her corporation and is a major player in whatever alliance they happen to be in. A good ceo can handle diplomacy and politics, can make decisions fast, isn't overwhelmed by a given situation, and most important: Can swallow his pride and admit he was wrong.
I consider myself a good ceo. Now I just need something to be ceo of.

Modesty, discipline, maturity, charm, acumen, and gravitas sprinkled with a dash of good humour is a fine start.
And you're wrong when to expect so much of a CEO. They are just playing the game for fun too, and are not unpaid jesters there to entertain you (and the corp).
A good CEO will outlay the vision, but its upto the members to buy in and do the hard work of making that vision a reality.
So says me.... A 'failed' CEO of 2.5 years.

1. Find the best people you can, make them directors. 2. Be willing to admit your NOT the best. 3. NEVER, EVER, ever, ever think being CEO is going to make you ISK. Never take ISK from corp for personal anything. 4. Be willing to listen to others ideas, when you use those ideas give the author credit. 5. Admit when you **** up. 6. Don't pick sides, when forced to make a difficult choice, tell the effected party why you had to make that choice. Takes a few moments but usually keeps feathers from being ruffled. 7. Realize that people will want to tell you about their deeds, actions and/or real life. Be prepared to listen. 8. A compliment or a 'Thank you' to a member is never a bad thing. 9. Treat members how you want to be treated. So keep your temper/ego in check. 10. If you expect your members to do something, you better be willing to do that thing yourself.

Marko I miss u.
Possible the best ceo I could ever have (I preffer a small corp and close knit, or lots of nitts and very close). As a few also comment, I will only back up that ur CEO must be part of ur fighting, if u do anything towards pvping. If u have a ceo that pen pushes when ur in conflict he wont be "in touch" with many things important.
Large allainces will need not just a good ceo, but a good command structure. How ur ceo goes about this and making sure things stay true to the grand design are key. I do not know how Marko would have done as a big allaince leader but for the kind of stuff he got us up to I can tell the good points. Sence of humer and cunning, both go hand in hand. Is on the frontline leading stuff, bonus points for being a good FC since u can directly motivate people from the battle front. Knows how eve works behind the scenes and good contacts with other ceo's. Does not break his word. Has a clear and decent goal to keep things ticking over. Likes to use comments such as " get him pritties " Knows when to step in and say, U **** up, drop and give me 20 And top most, a massive amount of forsight and sheer geneius cunning that u could be named mr fox, of fox hill, cunning lane, ebbil town, sherwood ect ect, Being more " well if they do that, then u do this" rather then "dock, Hide cower" ect ect.
All alliances with ceos that recomend to there members to dock and do nothing are doomed in the long run, I meen unless u only want to carebear it up. U wont be living/breathing pvp if ur docked (bar poss gunners). If they tell u to "dork" up... find a better ceo/allaiance.
Marko was all of these things, its easier to get more personal with smaller numbers, but even in a huge allaince if ur ceo can't take a beer with the grunts he/she will loose respect.
make sure ur ceo has a cat that u can hear on TS aswell, if u think im joking? take a look at the one bond film, inspector gadget, even "danger mouse" and ull understand how important it really is.

Time and no life are essential but that's just the start I mean there are plenty of TNL people playing eve and suck at it. In my humble opinion you need a few added spices if you will to make a great CEO.
1 Angry - bad marriage molested as a child ect ect 2 PAIN - some sort of physical impediment, wants to make other pay for his pain 3 HATE - the all consuming type and the ability to channel it into action 4 Charisma - some needed to make people want to follow you at first 5 Jealousy - The need to take what others have
Added bonus features:
Bipolar Clinically Depressed kicked out of anger management classes
If you get that combination in the correct amounts you have a CEO that can win eve.
edit: a terminal disease might make him win it in record time.
