I came across a website where someone is building a program to automatically change the skill training, featuring a timer and eventually a queue of upto 5 skills. I was wondering, doesnt this go against the terms and conditions of eve. Its due to be released fully on the 1st of May, people say it does work. ----------------------- There is no spoonT ----------------------- |

I have no intention of using it but i just fear it will stop people from playing the game properly. ----------------------- There is no spoonT ----------------------- |

Macro = ban, also AFAIK you need to enter your username/password - never a good idea.
Having said that, if you're so lazy that you need to use a macro tool to log on and off once a day to swicth skills, or so stupid that you can't manage to juggle your skill training to coincide with your online times, you deserve to have your account stolen and/or banned, therefore I'm all in favour of this program.

Firstly I`m not for the use of macro`s....
but I dont see why ccp shouldnt have had this in the first place,, being the ability to cue up a few skills so your not having to work your skill training around your life,,,
think of it if they made it so u could cue up say even just 2 skills at a time,, for example you decide you want to train in another race frigate,, turn on level 1 training, cue up lvl 2 and lvl 3,, hey presto it lets you train what you want to train as opposed to having to train somthing less immediate to your preference simply because you dont want to lose the training time while your asleep or at work,, i think ccp should add this feature into the game imo.

they wont ever put a que in, because at that point in time people WOULD set multiple lvl 5 skills, then cancell their account no que = more real $ for CCP
is this so hard to understand?

As long as skill training stops when the account goes inactive I don't see why CCP wouldn't include a skill queue.

Just disable the queue if accout is inactive. It this so hard to design?

Don't you think this is a bit immature? I guess you never have anything that comes up in your life that might pull your away from the seat in front of your monitor or your laptop?
They have talked about a que for a long time now. Would be nice for those of us who have family emergencies or things that take us away from the PC or Laptop to deal with real world issues. Now if I was still 16, in school, and had no life I wouldn't care. With responsibilities and Eve being a secondary to the major things in life, I would enjoy at least just a que for one skill in backup if not multiple.

Your assuming that it there will either be no limit to the queue, or that the limit will be the number of skills to train. But what if the limit was the training time in the queue ? (meaning that you can place skills till your queue is longer than the limit)
So the longest an account could before it stopped training would be the time limit + the longest single skill training time. Then they reactivate the account, log in a couple of times to add skill books (you can't forget about skill pre-requisites) and change skills.
Consider that when an account is deactivated, the only resources it's using are the storage space, lookups made by other players and the resources needed to keep track of the skills (which can theoretically be left till the account is reactivated).
So how infrequently do you think someone would have to reactivate accounts for their account to become unprofitable for CCP ?
Since the person running a training account has no interest in playing on that account, the account only exists because of the queue. So unless the queue allows him to leave the account inactive for long enough to be unprofitable, the account would be bringing in profit that CCP wouldn't be getting otherwise.
And this is assuming that the queue doesn't halt when the account is cancelled, which is a very questionable assumption.
For anyone wanting to use this argument elsewhere, feel free to copy and paste it. If you want to take the credit for it, please rephrase it a bit. |
