o/ was wondering if it's possible for one dread to kill one carrier say a 1v1 fight?
minmatar dread for example. vs a minny carrier. |

I think it'd basically come down to who ran out of strontium first in a 1v1 situation.
You'd get a good few hours before anything happened. |

Triage Carriers can generally tank a Dread, playing around on Sisi, a Triage Thanny was easily able to tank max Skilled Moros, said Moros capped very quickly with a single Heavy neut.
A triage chimera was a similar story, and an Archon presumably the same story as its tank is superior to either, it also worth noting that a Chimera (And presumably the other Carriers) can P-Much out track a Moros at under 7k Range
So yes, in triage, a chimera Tanked a single Moros siege cycle out of Triage barely, but it was entering half armour when the siege ended, however, the Moros was almost capped out, so again, agruably the Chimera could have came out alive at the end. |

What Danny said. It will come down to some particularities of range and fit. Having said that...the real question is once you kill the carrier/once the carrier caps you out/once you both run out of fuel...
What do you do about the 15-20 guys roaming in Nano-Shield BCs that saw a carrier and dread aggroing each other? |

Correct me if I am wrong...but a max skilled dread vs max skilled carrier...would the dread be dead in as long as it took for the carrier's fighters to chew through its armor? I mean for a dread to do real damage it needs to enter siege mode...which means its tracking is gonna suck. The carrier (staying out of triage mode) could just orbit at top speed (or out of range) and let its fighters rip the dread to pieces. Also carriers can pack more goodies in the highs (neuts, extra fighters, etc) where dreads pretty much just have their guns. AmIright? |

carriers top out around 1k dps, dreads can tank that easily. |

The idea that capital ships can orbit tank or speed tank eachothers dps is just .... laughable.
Its like supertankers speedtanking a modern warship ^^ |

In a fight that pits a carrier against dred... my money is on the carrier.
Why? Simply put... the carrier's damage output is not dependent on capacitor or tracking. And unlike the dred, the carrier can fit energy neutralizers to cap out its adversary... thus killing the dred's tank and ability to shoot (sans the Nalfagar and Phoenix).
Beyond that... the carrier can carry extra fuel in it's corp hanger to do some extra Triage cycles. Now granted... dred DPS is a fair bit higher than the carrier's local tank... but it isn't high enough to melt a carrier unless the dred is doing some "Leeroy lol-DPS fit." Assuming the carrier was not triaged it would come down to wether the carrier coud;
A: Get close enough to out track the majority of the dreads output, or get far away enough to simply warp off.
B: Weather the dread could be capped out (Again, Sans Pheonix/Nag) before the carriers combined buffer/rep ran down.
However, the carrier would probably never kill the dread, as even out of Siege the dread can easily tank the relatively low Deeps of a carrier (like 1200 on a Maxed out Thanny as far as i remember(lol carebear carrier bonus), or like 1000 for the rest). |

To put it simply the carrier would easily live. carriers can fit more goodies in the highs and as soon as the dred is capped the 1k cpd from the fighters would chew through the shield/armor of said dred. |
