So, I ususaly have around 60 FPS depending on the system.
But if I open my second account, everything drops to 5-10 FPS for both clients. What exactly gives?
Both uses the premium graphics with shadow quality High and bloom Low.
My specs: E6750, 2 Gb Ram Corsair 800mhz, 8600 GTS 256mb on Win XP. _________________________________

Did you try it first on the 'old school' settings? It could be that you're just trying to squeeze juice out of a stone (i.e. Your computer can't handle it).
Edit - Read it again, shadows on high? Generally whenever I hear "my fps is teh suck" and "hay I put shadows on PWNZOR" I tend to link the two together ;). Tweak that down a little and see if it's more bearable. |

Premium graphics on more than one client == no FPS. Most multi account players just disable premium on all clients.

My guess is that it's this:

The premium graphics are a lot more intensive than the old models and textures. Have you tried turning one down to classic and comparing the result? Or perhaps turning off shadows which is pretty intense on the CPU?

I have a similar build, and I can't stand the low rates I get with bloom and shadows at your levels. Bloom works most of the time, while anything but "low/normal" shadows kills the client to lower than 20 fps regardless. Turn down the shadows, remember that EvE really looks the same even on the premium graphics settings, provided you are playing correctly.

Edited by: Messerschmitt facility on 24/04/2008 03:34:49 heh I just set my client with no premium graphics (for first time on this machine) and I pretty much got at least double the FPS.
Also on premium graphics on, with only 1 client, I do get occasional freeze-ups (when for example opening P&P or when there is a fight).
I am pretty sure my system can handle a lot more FPS than the client currently spits with premium on, and as far as I read CCP is still working to optimize the premium graphics.
Also anyone else is having small spikes in FPS when using Ctrl+F on premium graphics? _________________________________

Nope, no spikes with CTRL-F.
CCP's most recent patch allowed CCP to start recording video card information for optimization (I assume), so I think you are on track. -----

Its simple.. Dumb down your rig.. I cut all my graphics way way down. turn every thing down or off. Any thing u can turn off turn it off. Then try to Dual boot. I do it and i have to reboot my PC 50% of the time. Boo CCP!!!!

If you have to reboot your system, then basic maintenance, or hardware is failing. Turning the clients to "Classic", or even turning off the shadows should be sufficient. -----

Ive been running dual accounts on an 8500gt (yes, that's a 5 in there, replacement 8800gts arrives tomorrow) on premium on both clients with no issues and very respecable FPS, even while frapsing @ 25fps. Each client is at 24bit color, 1280x960 res. I run each client off a seperate HD, and fraps to a third, with 4gb and core2 3ghz (e6850) on XP. Keeping your drive(s) defragmented helps a lot it seems, and I like to think running on seperate HD's speeds up loading. shadow quality off, hdr disabled, all effects on.
The only problem I can report is that sometimes I cannot start a second client after I've closed one of the two, e.g. to switch chars on one account. No random crashes or low fps or whatever. *shrug*

I run 3 accounts with premium and stay at around 60 fps in station, 50 or so in space. however I keep my shadows on normal. If I boost the shadows things get bad RQ. -=^=-

Edited by: starvoid on 24/04/2008 05:17:32 I have E8400 oc'ed to 3.6GHz, 2Gb ram, and 8800GT.
I have 2 premium clients running at 60 fps, and 15-20% cpu use.
Basically, dual EVE instances running at same time dont even tickle this monster. Oh, and im running a TV window at same time too
Havent bothered with changing shadows or HDR from default.
Hope this helps.

System: E6600 @ 3,6 Ghz, 4GB ram and a 8800GT
I run 2x premium clients in 1280*1024 window mode with no HDR,24+8bit color depth and medium shadows.
I get around 60-80 FPS in space.
I tried clocking the CPU back to 2,4 Ghz and then I actually noticed quite a bit of lag on a mission where i had 50 drones on me (lvl 3 new frontiers)
But if i stay @ 3,6 I haven't noticed any lag with 2 clients. (in the setup i run)

Running 2 clients, my FPS isn't the problem. However the memory leak IS, after a while 1 client will take up 1-1.5GB of mem+swapfile. I've increased the swapfile for now but that's obviously not the way to go.

Three clients with two premium graphics clieents at 1280x1024 on an 8800GTS combined with a classic client on a 8400GS to support a third screen. No problems whatsoever. The only time it goes south is if there are a lot of things going on (read battles) in all three clients of if I try to run the third client on the 8400GS with premium content.
OP, could you possibly have a piece of hardware that is proving to be a bottleneck or is malfunctioning? Like a defective or low-end motherboard pr two extremely high-res clients on the 8600? Such things can affect gameplay and graphics. .

I run 2 clients, both with premium graphics. FPS are about 30 for the client in focus and about 10 for the one not in focus.
Settings are probably a bit low and I run both clients in window mode.

I get 30 FPS when running 2 clients, but the interface feels laggy, like the mouse moves half second later... When running only one client it's perfect. Maybe it is because I have Vista 32bit or can be the 256MB video card the cause?

Go Quad or Dual Core on ur cpus and get either SLI or a dual core graphics card. You will be able to run both clients with no change in fps.

SLI graphics cards are a waste of time. I routinely run 3 copies of premium on a q6600/8800gts (>512 video card ram, i forget the exact #). I had issues up until a couple weeks ago because I was using year old drivers. After updating I haven't had any problems.

Turn shadows down to low or off and turn bloom off. FPS shud go straight up. Altho i dunno why ure having problems i can run twin premium clients and fps isnt hit so harshly (GeForce 7600GT + Athlon 64 X2 4800+ + 2gb XMS2 667MHz) --------------------------- The Cake is a lie... Reduce settings AND Update drivers (sound too, might also consider motherboard) OR Get a better video card, like a GTX OR Get a second PC OR Don't log both in at the same time --- COMRADE MINERS - FORWARD THE REVOLUTION!!!
