Edited by: Sean Faust on 24/04/2008 13:30:40 I've always thought of blasteranises as kamikaze ships that you shouldn't expect to hold onto for very long, and for that reason I've never put rigs on them. However, I've been seeing a lot of fitting suggestions that suggest aux thruster rigs and such, and I'm wondering if it's worth it. Would it increase my survivability by enough to justify the cost?
My normal taranis fitting is: 3x Light Ion II 1MN MWD II, X5 web, Warp Disruptor II Damage Control II, Overdrive Injector II, Mag Stab II
2x Warrior II
no rigs

That is the almost exact same setup I use. Well, but I use a fleeting/web II and nanofibre II (since using velocity rigs).
I have 2x Aux thrusters on it. only cost me about 18m total and can help me catch some faster ships and get into blaster range.
not sure exactly, but with decent skills and 3% speed implant I think with overload it runs like 6400 with MWD II. almost 8km/s with overload.
Final analysis: It's not worth it. For those aux thrusters you could almost setup another 1.5 taranis'. I don't think the cost justify's the use of rigs on blaster taranis'. They die far too much.

Yeh definitely worth it to get some aux thruster rigs on your blasterranis imo. Its already pretty slow compared to some of the other inties and the extra speed from the rigs + overloading your mids can really help with getting in close to blaster range in inty fights.
Also if you consider how cheap those rigs are (10mil isk each iirc) vs how much u already spent it's, relatively speaking, not that much of an extra expenditure.

Depends on how good you are at picking targets. The Taranis is a ship where you rely on brute strength. You're inside web range which means you have to have the DPS/HP to take out your enemy first.

Isn't a Taranis plus T2 fittings about 17-18M or so? Adding another 20M is quite a bit really.
I mean, it might make sense if you're chasing interceptors and whatnot.. but generally speaking, I wouldn't say it's exactly worth it.

Maybe if they're utterly dirt cheap, but for the most part I'd say no. Taranises have the tendency to explode when someone looks at them funny.

I was thinking the same thing.
Put some fall off rigs or tracking rigs. The ship can't negate speed as well as some of the other ships, might as well make it hit better.
Plus those rigs are too expensive. Miz Stelth Bomerz iz the ****nit.
