Wow, I can't believe the hate in here. I would vote for anyone qualified to do the job. For example I hate a lot of the players in BOB or SMASH, but if one of them happened to be the most qualified, I wouldn't hold a grudge against the alliance against the candidate.
As far as who I don't support, I don't support any candidate that's come out to bash another. I think we're all good choices and the fact that there needs to be a majority consensus to get anything done on the council will prevent anyone from pushing their whacked out agenda too far. --------------------------------------------- Noghri ViR for CSM Vote for me here: http://myeve.eve-online.com/council/voting/Vote.asp?c=28

I would not, and did not vote a Goon in to office. While making no assumptions what so ever regarding their intentions, Goonswarm attracts way too much trouble. A day doesn't go by that I don't hear something incriminating about a member of Goonswarm, or the Swarm itself. And I don't think it's reasonable to suggest that it just comes with the territory of being a large alliance. ---

I also would not vote for any goons. I would go more for the small corp/alliance type person but all candidates got looked at but the ones in goons. Never considered or would have considered voting for a goon.

Yes you're right, they don't run, as I've been in 0.0, as I've got a tiny sliver of Blood Raider reputation.
And the 'loathes pvp' is a gross exaggeration too.

I'm told i shouldn't want to vote for Goumindong [whose name i no doubt mangled there] but i can't say the thought has crossed my mind either way.
The only candidate i could not vote for is of course Jade Constantine. For, and i cant believe i'm actually saying this, purely moral reasons. Nothing to do with positions on anything, just not the kind of person i'd want representing the players to CCP.
I do not speak for my corp in this or any matter [esp outside IGS].

serenity - for the information policy that went with the ISS-IPO. public reporting over those <300bil started after his retirement (although those reports lacked aswell, it was still better than nothing at all). besides, "his" strategic maps are being sold along with EON; good contacts to ccp may be considered helpful, but it just makes me doubt he represents the base.
goumindong - for his lack of constructive debating-culture. as you can see in this thread, everything becomes a personal "i said this, you said that" somehow *shrug* master at derailing ship discussions into nitpicking over semantics. - putting the gist back into logistics |

Edited by: Luciela Darkfall on 07/05/2008 03:43:54 I'd rather vote SirMolle than Jade Constantine. Jade's intro was the most preposterous text I've ever seen, and someone who says remote doomsdays are okay is nothing other than a deep danger to the game, whose votes are probably gonna come mostly from people who've never been in the major wars going on recently.
To me Jade is a symbol of the past that we should do good to keep buried, not elected.
Edit: I DEFINITELY wouldn't vote Eva Jobse either, but I believe there should be a carebear like her in the CSM, and someone who's been ruling a major pvp faction like Darius JOHNSON. The BEST thing we can do to the game right now is to maintain balance and every type of player should be represented.
With that said, my vote did go to Darius because he's the only one who I know that is truly concerned about the current state of game mechanics as he is the ruler of 3000 people being affected by it, every kind of player among them. |

That was a tongue in cheek comment. To repeat however a statement I've made earlier... territorial conquest in Eve is a contest of wills. Nobody likes losing. By virtue of winning we're making someone else miserable. That's the game's DESIGN. If you stay in 1.0 without an active war against us, are our ally or are in space that your corporation can sufficiently defend you in you have no need to worry about us "ruining your game experience". Contrary to popular belief aside from myself, Goons are not magical demons.

Yeah, that's a problem. Because I don't think that you should be trying to make people hate EVE... Because that's basically what it surmounts to.
Also, Reasoned1, read up on John Rawls, and you will understand just what I think of 'democracy'. That's what makes Goon so much of an eyesore though. Not the domination tactics or even the bad rep, because all that's to be expected of a massive corporation. The bad stuff originates from the fact that Goon is based off the SomethingAwful forums and therefore does attract the sort of trouble and *******s that can be expected. Because of this and the way their method of approach decreases risks of loss, accountability and responsibility for individual players, and makes it easier to play as a lowlife saboteur or pirate than it actually should be... Well, we do not want EVE to turn into a gaming version of 4chan, now do we? Particularly not the /b/ section...

On the forum banning issue: lets just say that early Eve-online forum rules were very inflexible and afforded the same "weight" of offense for a piddling marginal pixel count infraction on signature size as they did for a full on nasty personal flame.
This was obviously a huge problem which has now been fully addressed by the revamp to forum moderation policies and hiring of a professional forum moderation team and is to the clear benefit of Eve Online.
I'm pretty confident that none of the warnings I received as part of my old forum ban would currently count as an official warning under the new forum rules. And its just as well that everything has been reset as a fresh beginning for everyone.
Added to that I have a clean record on in-game warnings and after five years of high-profile play in a variety of epic conflicts and confrontations I'd say thats something to be proud of.

Regardless of whether it was justified or not you still circumvented the ban using your Jasmine Constantine character, which I believe is grounds for a permanent ban even under the new rules.
I wonder where "she's" been since your ban was lifted. Strange that I haven't seen a single post of "hers" since all the bans were revoked. |

Regarding NBSI... It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the CSM whatsoever. Nor does 4chan which btw EVERYBODY hates, nor does SA really. I never put words in your mouth. I used your manner of speech as a different turn of phrase.
On the point that if you own the space, you make the rules, I agree. And frankly, I would consider applying as a Goon just to make things easier for myself. However, just because you can doesn't mean you should. That is a common thing that most decent parents teach their children. Which makes a lot of Goons the veritable idiot kids who pelt the other kids in your 'sandbox', as you've put it, with rocks. Because they can.
The NBSI rule does have to do with this. As does 4chan, which can easily be compared to your corporation, as a very eclectic gathering of people with plentiful opportunities to do no good. It was an example, a comparison I had thought you would understand.
I do not hate the game. I do not hate the rules. I hate the players, for the reason that in real life, people are accountable individuals, and as such feel a need to be sensible and responsible, instead of merely ruining the environment around them for their own amusement.

Most people are deciding their vote on the issues and expressed manifesto questions rather than murky dirty tricks campaigns. I've certainly got absolutely nothing to be ashamed of in Jade's posting history and I'm presenting a consistent and enthusiastic appreciation for the game of Eve Online from its release to the present day.
I'd suggest you get on with deciding your own vote on the actual issues and perhaps get back to promoting CVA Providence when you're done.
I really don't think this election process is aided by continuing in-character feuds and bias on the selection of ooc candidates for the CSM positions.
Have a nice day now!
