I pickup a frozen body last night, and is in cold storage at the moment :). Why I did it I don't know, but what the @%*& do I do with it? Is it ok to sell it, and how do i do that? Which brings me to my next question. If I die in space. what happens to my character. Do I make a will for the next of kin, do I start all over.

You can make sweet love to the frozen body. That's what we mostly do. Mostly.
Keep an updated clone and you won't lose any skill points (SP) when you die.

If you have the body of someone important someone might pay money for it. But chances are he isn't and you haven't, so it's pointless.
Read 2.11 (and forward) here for more information about how to properly die.

You "die" in two stages:
When your ship is destroyed is the first. When your ship pops there's a random chance it'll take a bunch of your equipment and cargo with it into death. The rest will be left on its wreck to be recovered.
As the ship pops, you are ejected into an escape pod. Your pod will not be targeted by the NPC Police or turrets, so if you've done something wrong you'll be free to go in it. Players, on the other hand, can and will pop your pod if given the chance. When this happens your character dies and a corpse is left in space, much like the one you have found.
When your character dies you respawn inside a clone in a station. As long as you remember to update your clone so it can hold all your skill points you'll be able to continue playing as usual. If you forgot to update the clone you will lose some skill points.

"Lose some skill points"
Im not sure I understand how this works. How can you lose points from skills already trained?
Or does it put you into negative numbers similar to xp debt?

if your current skill points exceed that of your cloned body you will lose some of the skill points in your current most expensive skill.
for example if i die without an up to date clone, i will no longer have battleship V, but ill be about halfway up battleship IV.
Clones are a once only thing, when you die, upgrade your clone before undocking. Its a hard lesson to learn. Save yourself the grief. We come for our people |

The skillpoints lost are not 100% of how many are missing between your clone SP value and your dying SP.
The loss can't be more than half of your highest SP skill.
I remeber the number of SP lost was calculated on a % of what was missing in the clone (anyway, you have the max loss being from your 'biggest skill'), maybe there's some explanation in the knowledgebase? -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

I'm pretty sure there isn't.
But this post explains it very well.

It wasn't my body!!! It was just this body floating out there!!! I don't think I'll be losing any skill points because I scooped it up. I just want to know what to do with it. I'll have shipped to the family!!!! LOL

There's an EVE Graveyard, believe it or not, in the Molea system. Some chick started it by anchoring cargo containers full of corpses outside one of the planets there... I believe that CCP recently moved it so it wouldn't vanish with the new cargo container nerf (cargo cans now expire after 30 days of not being used). But it's still in Molea somewhere. --- I'm looking for a good 0.0 corp to join. |

Ohhhh I got to see this!
By the way, I looked into my clone last night being a noob they are quite expensive.
I noted that evidently I already have a 'default' clone an 'alpha' or something like that. Ill have to read that thread about it. Thanks.

The graveyard operates on donations I think. I'm pretty sure there was a guy recently who was buying corpses for a few mil to increase his corpse collection though the name and the post eludes me :/

The rate at which you lose skill point is:
up to 5% of the difference between your current SP and your current clone's protection level, but not exceeding half of your highest trained skill (highest trained skill is based on the skill's rank and is the skill that took the most SP to obtain).
Clones start cheap - the basic one is free, but only covers 900,000 SP (about enough for your first couple of days).
The next level covers a few more SP (a bit over a million from memory) and is quite cheap.
As you get more SP, you'll need a better clone, but as you do, your income should rise in proportion. I'm currently paying about 2m ISK for a clone to cover over 20m SP. As my skills are good enough, I can earn 2m ISK in about 10 minutes of ratting, missioning or mining (less if I'm actively trading). A relative newbie should be able to make enough to buy a new clone in about the same amount of time.
GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD THAT CLONES ARE EXPENSIVE. They're not and if you get podded and have to spend 3 weeks re-training a skill to fly your shiny new ship, you'll appreciate the small investment. I can't emphasise this enough, if you ever travel any where outside a station, you need to have an updated clone.
As to what to do with the frozen corpse, store it, collect them, contact the owner and see if he wants it, try to find who killed him and see if they want it, dump it in the cemetary, dump it in space, trash it........the list goes on.

Edited by: Kask Aledrought on 30/04/2008 12:40:47 last question... once I buy a clone, say the 1.3m sp version, I dont have to update or 'refresh' it for it to stay current IF I am still under 1.3m sp? Meaning if I learn gallente industrial iv I dont have to stop back to a station and update myself to be saved if I'm still under the clone cap. If I go over 1.3m then I have to buy the next version up.

No, there is no refreshing necessary. RP wise the Pod's life support systems do a brain scan on you just before you die, and upload it to your clone. Then only time you need to mess with your clone is when you surpass its SP value.
NOTE: when you die you are given a new clone free, HOWEVER, it is only the basic alpha grade. You must buy a new one sufficient for your SPs yourself.
