I've tried searching the forums for some Vexor setup's but every thread I find is from like 2005 or 2006. I have about 2.5mil SP, a bit in fitting skills and a lot in drones. Here is what I have been flying recently:
Lows: 1x 1600 Tungsten Plate 1x EANM 1x Reactive Plating (whatever the +explosive armor resist module is called) 1x Small Armor Repper
Mids: 1x 10MN MWD 1x Webber 1x Warp Disruptor
Highs: 2x 200mm Rail 3x Small Nos
Drone Bay: 7x Hammerhead 8x Warrior
I can just BARELY fit this stuff due to powergrid constraints. I realize the 200mm rails are kind of useless since the idea of this build is to MWD close and nos while drones do the dirty work. Would it make any sense to put small blasters in the highs instead of the rails and all the nos? Should I be using a big 1600mm plate? It definitely lowers my agility and speed considerably but I'm not sure how else to keep myself alive while my drones do their work. Should I be using Ogre's or any other heavy drones as a part of my dps? I usually just go with 5x Hammerheads and I have yet to run into a situation where I actually needed the Warriors to catch anything.
Any suggestions are welcome. Please flame my newbiness, I enjoy it.

Take teh 1600mm plate off - it lowers your speed and any BC or BS you happen to encounter will pop you pretty quick anyway. I like the speed tank Vexor myself:
highs: 4 x 150mm rails (named in your case until you get t2)
mids: 10mn mwd (named) 20km warp disruptor (j5b) medium cap battery (t2 if u can)
lows: nanofiber internal structure 3x overdrive injector
however, if you don't like the speed setup, put 4x heavy electron blasters in the highs (if you can't use them, then 4 best named small blasters) ..vexor is a drone boat and gets good drone bonuses, so keep a rack of light drones and medium drones (light for fast frigs/inties and medium for cruisers).

plating it restricts you on what you can engage to frigates, destroyers, and cruisers that don't deal a lot of dps (a well fitted thorax will eat you).. i nano mine, it allows you to engage any turret ships :) i.e. bait a BS or BC at a gate, have them aggress so sentries are on your side, orbit at 20km, drones.
2x NanoII 2x ODII 1x MWD 1x 24km disruptor 1x cap booster 3x 125mm Railgun II 2x remote reps/neuts/etc ----------- D: |

Thanks guys... I'll definitely give the nano setup a try next time. A couple questions though:
(1) Both nano setups suggested se small rails as opposed to medium ones (which the Vexor gets a bonus in damage to). Is it worth it to find a way to fit a couple medium rails to get that bonus damage? Should I stop worrying so much about guns and focus on the fact that drones are the damage?
(2) What sort of drones should I be carrying around? Like I said, I currently use 5 Hammerheads for almost anything and I carry around spare Hammerheads and a set of Warriors just in case I ever need them. Should I be instead carrying around a couple Ogre's and launching things like 2 Ogre's, 2 Hammerheads and 1 Hobgoblin? The Vexor's 75mbit drone bandwidth can support that kind of assortment and I have seen it suggested before for other ships.

Spectre, while the vex does get a bonus to medium hybrid turret damage, it's not worth the sacrifice to fit four medium guns and then have to put in a PDU or RCU, thereby taking away a slot that could be used for a resist or a damange mod (magnetic field stablizer for instance). 150mm rails will have better tracking and ROF and will be able to hit inties and frigs a lot better than medium rails/blasters. IMHO the vex is better at range - staying outside web/scram range and letting your drones chew through your opponent. nano setup is fun :) works well with a tackling gang member (interceptor or some such).
flysafe.

Seconded, although I'd go with a second EANM myself instead of the small rep. With that big armor plate, you'll spend all day fixing armor damage.

Yep, generally stupid to fit a 1600 plate + sar at same time, unless you have no access to a station

I agree that the two are interchangeable, but prefer the SAR for the added self sufficiency. It also means you can mitigate those times you take minor damage when destroying something weaker and don't want to dock, allowing you to continue roaming without having any previous damage. The SAR reps up the armour in under 7 mins, crim flag is 15. If you're stuck SS'ing in a system for 15 mins, itĘs worth prepping for your next encounter. Either way seems fine though.

Try this for an alternative setup.
Low: Medium rep II Medium rep accommodation. EAN II DC II
Mid: Afterburner II Disrupter II Cap booster named with 800`s
High: 3 Heavy electron blasters II 1 Light neutron blaster II 1 Small named Nos
Drones: 2 ogres II 2 Hammerheads II 1 Hogoblin II 5 Wariors II
I have had great fun with this set up, deals close to 500dps, and the tank is great and peoble dont expect it. |

I would feel kind of weird about flying a blaster Vexor (or any blasterboat) without a MWD. It's going to be pretty tough to find a target who will twiddle their thumbs while you slowly float towards them with your AB on to try and kill them.

You get more of a bonus from the thrid overdrive injector than a second interal structure

w00t fame \o/
I sometimes use 280 II artillery to chase off high transversal inties and kill drones, but if you can use light neutron' then the extra damage they do is worth it.
